Vaughn Edward Rogers
(1919 - 2007)

COLDWATER, Mich. - Vaughn Edward Rogers, 87, of Coldwater, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Laurels of Coldwater.
Born Oct. 27, 1919, at Charlotte, to Blanche M. (Ely) and William M. Rogers, he married Mildred A. "Sally" McGill on Sept. 23, 1950, and she survives.
A graduate of Charlotte High School, he had served in the U.S. Army Airborne during World War II. He retired from Aeroquip Corporation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Janet Marie) McBride of Bryan, Ohio, and Mrs. William (Suzi K.) Stephenson of Belle Center, Ohio; two sons, Larry E. (and wife, Sandy) Rogers of Jerome and Gary (Janet) Rogers of Grand Rapids; two stepsons, Dean Ruger of Coldwater and Robert (Linda) Ruger of Round Lake, Ill.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 12 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Theo and Ray Rogers; and a stepson, Doug Ruger.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the George White Funeral Home, Quincy, with Brothers Robert Lawton and Eric Dryer to officiate.
Memorials may be made to Mrs. Rogers.

William Ray Harris
(1925 - 2007)

William Ray Harris, 81, of Bryan, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan, where he was a patient.
Born July 1, 1925, at Roseville, to Anna (Turner) and Philip Harris, he married Floss Irene Reeves on July 2, 1948, at New Lexington, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2006.
He was a maintenance man at Spangler Candy Company from 1950 to 1963 and then with Bryan Metals until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie No. 2233 and the Eagles golf league.
Surviving are a son, Gene (and wife, Shirley) Harris of Bryan; three daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Ruth) Stein of Edon, Mrs. Mike (Kathy) Prokop of Cleveland Heights and Brenda Cogswell of Bryan; a son - in - law, Dean Blosser of Bryan; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen Blosser; three brothers, Philip, Fred and Kent Harris; and two sisters, Gertrude Pace and Mary Tokie.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Shiffler cemetery, rural Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Patrick L. Treer
(1970 - 2007)

MONTPELIER - Patrick L. Treer, 36, of Montpelier, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, March 17, 2007, at his home.
Born Oct. 19, 1970, at Montpelier, to Kay L. (Lattanner) and Howard James Treer, he was a lifelong Montpelier resident.
A graduate of Montpelier High School, he was employed as an assembler at Tru - Fast Corporation in Bryan. Previously, he was a longtime employee of the Ramada Inn near Montpelier. Surviving are his father, of Montpelier; a brother, Brian L. Treer of Montpelier; grandmother, Glema Treer of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, on Aug. 6, 2002; and grandparents, John and Martha Lattanner and Robert E. Treer.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Wilson - Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Vandeman to officiate. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the Montpelier Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.

Larry E. Seals
(1946 - 2007)

MONTPELIER - Larry E. Seals, 60, of Montpelier, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, March 17, 2007, at his home.
Born Dec. 7, 1946, at Osceola, Ark., to Gertrude (Kemp) and Eugene Victor Seals, he was a former Coldwater, Mich., area resident and had been a Montpelier resident since 1983.
A graduate of Litchfield, Mich., High School, he had attended Jackson Community College.
He was a long - time tool and die maker with ARO Corporation of Bryan, and was a member of the Montpelier Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Aaron E. Seals of Montpelier and Shawn Riley of Indiana; a daughter, Dawn Seals of Bryan; the mother of his children, Susan Carey of Bryan; two brothers, Bob (and wife, Donna) Seals and Roger Seals, both of Quincy, Mich.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Linda Shonk; and an infant brother, Billy Seals. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Don Harris to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Kenneth L. Nofziger
(1932 - 2007)

ARCHBOLD - Kenneth L. Nofziger, 74, of Archbold, died early Saturday morning, March 17, 2007, at his home, following a battle with cancer.
Born Dec. 28, 1932, near Archbold, to Arminda (Short) and Amandus Nofziger, he married Marlene Fether on Dec. 24, 1955, and she survives.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he worked at the A&P Grocery Store and Elmira Block and Tile, was part owner of the Banner Store, and then owned and operated Ken's Home Restaurant.
He retired after 20 years as head of the grounds, buildings, and buses of the Archbold Area Schools.
Mr. Nofziger had served in the U.S. Coast Guard and had run 33 marathons in 17 states. A member of St. John's Christian Church in Archbold, he was an honorary member of the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311 in Archbold.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, LaMonte (and wife, Josette) Nofziger of Archbold; three daughters, Cindy Lienau of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Rick (Teresa) Short of Toledo, and Kim Nofziger of Archbold; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Chauncey Nofziger, Dale A. Nofziger, Harold S. Nofziger, Donald J. Nofziger and an infant, Clifford; and a sister, Marguerite Zaerr. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 - 9 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Christian Church with the Rev. Erich Christman to officiate. Interment will precede at 10 a.m. in the Archbold cemetery with military graveside services by the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties or St. John's Christian Church.

Madonna M. Hahn
(1925 - 2007)

MONTPELIER - Madonna M. Hahn, 82, of Montpelier and formerly of Defiance, died Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2007, at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Bryan.
Born March 10, 1925, in Defiance County, to Catherine (Wood) and Isadore James Mack, she married Warren Edward Phillips on May 7, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1950. She then married Harry Earl Hahn on Feb. 14, 1953, and he survives in Montpelier.
She had worked at Murphy's Department Store and the Zeller Corporation in Defiance. In 1975, she graduated from the Bowling Green School of Nursing with her licensed practical nursing degree. She then worked at the Defiance Hospital and various nursing homes in the area, retiring in 1990.
A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier, she was formerly a member of St. John Catholic Church, Defiance.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Warren Edward (and wife, Jane) Phillips Jr. of Toledo, Gregory M. (Kathy) Phillips of Defiance and Harry Joseph (Terry) Hahn of Petersburg, Mich.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Carolyn) Mack of Defiance; and a sister, Ilene (Paul Darwood) Hohenberger of Defiance.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband; a brother, Paul Mack; and an infant sister, Mary Mack.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Fred Duschl to officiate. Burial will follow at the Forest Home cemetery, Hicksville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dolores Jean Mock

Dolores Jean Mock, 77, of Bryan, died late Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Van Crest Healthcare of Van Wert.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.

Velma L. Bigger
(1940 - 2007)

EDGERTON - Velma L. Bigger, 67, of Edgerton, died Friday evening, March 9, 2007, at her home following an extended illness.
Born Feb. 5, 1940, at Edgerton, to Goldie (Young) and Walter C. Goebel, she married Clarence O. 'Jim' Bigger on June 14, 1958, at Edgerton, and he survives.
She had retired from Air Way Manufacturing in Edgerton with more than 10 years of service. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Christina) Terrill of Hicksville, Mrs. Keith (Sandra) Thompson and Mrs. Leslie (Dawn) Thompson, both of Edgerton; a son, Clarence O. (and wife, Connie) Bigger Jr. of Edgerton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Juarez of Edgerton, Mrs. Max (Laura Belle) Ish of Hicksville and Mrs. Dale (Rozella) Gerber of Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly, in 1969, and a brother, Robert Goebel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's cemetery, Edgerton, with Pastor Byron Adams to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Lottie Katherine 'Kate' Jenkins
(1919 - 2007)

FREMONT, Ind. - Lottie Katherine "Kate" Jenkins, 87, of Fremont, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born May 23, 1919, at Bryan, Ohio, to Nora (Billow) and Glen Zigler, she married Blon Jenkins on May 14, 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1973.
Retired from Crotty Co. in Montgomery, Mich., she was a member of the Montgomery American Legion Post No. 156.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Noretta "Jo") Kurtz of Camden, Mich.; a daughter - in - law, Dorotha Jenkins of Florida; sons, Charles Jenkins of Pittsford, Mich., Dale (and wife, Sandy) Jenkins, Yale (Sandra) Jenkins and Dave (Luann) Jenkins, all of Camden; sisters, Margaret Rigelman of Montgomery, Mich. and Mrs. Richard (Irene) Messenger of Niles, Mich.; a sister - in - law, Beth Luke of Montpelier, Ohio; brothers, Olan (Jean) Zigler of Bryan, Ohio, and Clarence (Bernice) Whirledge of Middlebury; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jim; a granddaughter, Carrie Lockwood; a great-grandson, Justin Jenkins; three sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be today from 6 - 8 p.m. in the George White Funeral Home, Reading, Mich.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Alan Fenstermaker to officiate. Interment will follow in Woodbridge cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harry R. Barker
(1920 - 2007)

DEFIANCE - Harry R. Barker, 86, of Defiance, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at The Laurels.
Born May 20, 1920, at Defiance, to Bessie (Howell) and John Barker, he married Florence E. Pocock in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1983.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from Oct. 15, 1940, to Nov. 5, 1945. He had served in the Ohio National Guard from April 25, 1937 to Oct. 15, 1940.
An associate metalurgist, he had been employed at Lynch from 1939 - 1955 and at G.M. Powertrain from 1955 - 1981. He was a sheriff's special deputy from 1961 - 1999.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a life member and past commander of VFW 3360, life member of DAV, life member of Eagles 372, a life member of Defiance County Fish and Game, and a member of Amvets 1991.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Charleen) Stanfield of Defiance, Mrs. John (Pam) Kerr of Bryan and Mrs. Brian (Lee Ann) Overmyer of Gibsonburg; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Earnest Barker; and sisters, Frances Snavely and Helen Barker.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance, with VFW rites to be performed.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Yazell to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Delores J. Purgason
(1941 - 2007)

MONTPELIER - Delores J. Purgason, 65, of Montpelier, died Saturday morning, March 10, 2007, at the Ronald Gallant home in Montpelier following a lingering illness.
Born in Montpelier on July 19, 1941, to Lola Belle (Stantz) and Arthur R. Brown, she was a Montpelier resident most of her life.
She had retired as an assembler with the former Beam - Stream Inc. of Montpelier and had formerly been manager of Montpelier Garden Apartments.
Surviving are two sons, Tim (and wife, Wendy) Gallant of Montpelier and Travis (Natoya) Purgason of Maryville, Ind.; three daughters, Pamela Canaday of Bryan and Brenda Wilms and Pat Loomis, both of Montpelier; her mother, Lola Belle Brown of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Tabatha Everson of Auburn, Ind., Christopher Canaday of Montpelier, Matthew Canaday of Lima, Amanda Schoonover of Edgerton, Erin Gallant of Montpelier, Jade Purgason of Butler, Ind., and Shaquoia Purgason of Maryville, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Autumn Everson of Auburn, Ind.; and brothers, Ronald (Rebecca) Brown and Joe (Janet) Brown, both of Montpelier.
She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Sandy Schoonover; and two brothers, Harold and James Brown.
Family services will be Tuesday in the Wilson - Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier, with Pastor Mike Martinelli to officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in Riverside cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Diabetic Club or Williams County Kidney Foundation.
