Frances Swisher
(1928 - 2007)

OREGON, Ohio - Frances J. "Frannie" Swisher, 78, of Oregon, formerly of Bryan, died early Friday, March 9, 2007, at Foundation Park Alzheimer & Dementia Care Center, Toledo.
Born Nov. 24, 1928, in Bryan to Clara (Harrington) and Samuel Swisher, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church - West Jefferson, rural Montpelier.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Roy (Pauline) Moritz of Oregon, Harriet Bechtol of Dearborn, Mich., and Mrs. William (Louise) Rickels of Northfield; and one sister - in - law, Lucille Swisher of Greenville.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and four brothers, Kenneth Swisher, Clifford Swisher, Thomas Swisher, and Raymond Swisher.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Stafford of the New Life Assembly of God, Oregon officiating.
Burial will follow in Shiffler cemetery, Pulaski.
Gifts in loving memory are requested to Zion Lutheran Church, West Jefferson, rural Montpelier, or New Life Assembly of God, Oregon.

Bonnie Lou Birkhold
(1933 - 2007)

PAYNE - Bonnie Lou Birkhold, 74, died March 6, 2007, at her residence. Born Jan. 8, 1933, at Fort Wayne, Ind., to Opal (McDougal) and Fred Frye, she married Harlan "Fred" Birkhold on July 21, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2005.
Formerly employed by General Electric of Fort Wayne and as a cook with Howard Johnson of Fort Wayne, she was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Payne.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Max (Cathy) Moss of Harlan, Ind.; three sons, Fred (and wife, Kim) Birkhold of Bryan, David (Vickie) Birkhold of Montpelier and Van Birkhold of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Juanita Clouser; and a brother, Dean Frye.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. in the St. James Lutheran Church, Payne.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Joseph Allen to officiate. Burial will be in Lehman cemetery, Payne.
Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church Ladies Group or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Iona Smith
(1919 - 2007)

NAPOLEON - Iona Smith, 87, of Napoleon and formerly of Bryan, died Tuesday evening, March 6, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan.
Born Oct. 29, 1919, at Edgerton, she married Warren Smith and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Bill Fox of Lodi, Calif.; daughters, Sandra Phillips of Anahola, Hawaii, Alice Kopp of Lakewood, Calif. and Janice Rush of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter - in - law, Beatrice Fox of Napoleon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Robert and Michael Fox.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to noon in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan.
Funeral services will be Friday at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. Jon Exman to officiate. Burial will follow in Shiffler cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Harlan K. Brown
(Died March 15, 2015)

Harlan K. Brown, age 53, of Bryan, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Harlan was a passionate car mechanic and loved to help anyone with a need.
Harlan was born in Tiffin, Ohio on October 17, 1961, the son of Howard W. and Margaret C. (Burns) Brown. On November 13, 1982 he married Stella M. Huffman, and she survives. He was a graduate of Columbian High School in Tiffin, Ohio. He was a member of the Victory Barn Church in Edgerton. He was a social member of the AMVETS Post #54 in Bryan and also the VFW Post #2489 in Bryan. Harlan will forever be in the hearts of many.
Surviving are his wife, Stella, of Bryan; daughter, Rebecca L. (Kristopher) Church of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Eric C. Brown of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Gavin K. Church, Aria J. Brown and Isabelle Ware. Also surviving are brothers, Timothy Brown of Defiance, Howard Brown of Defiance, and David Brown of Defiance; sister, Christine Silliman of Defiance; and brother - in - law, David Donna of Tiffin, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dennis Burns and Paul Brown; and sister, Sarah Donna.
Visitation for Harlan will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. And 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker, with Pastor Rosene Mosley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood cemetery, in Stryker. A Reception will be held at the Bryan VFW following the burial. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to family choice.

Rhonda H. Vaccaro
(1950 - 2007)

MONTPELIER - Rhonda H. Vaccaro, 56, of Montpelier, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at St. Vincent - Mercy Medical Center, shortly after she had been admitted.
Born May 1, 1950, at Hicksville, to Olive (Smith) and Kenneth Norrick, she married Adrian D. Vaccaro on Sept. 30, 1984, at Defiance, and he survives.
A graduate of Edgerton High School, she was a factory worker at Tru Fast Corporation and formerly with Key Plastics Company.
She was an active leader and participant in a re - enactment group known as the MaCarthy's Mercenary Militia and a member of Forces of Wolfe and Montcam. She was also a member of the Montpelier Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie 2246.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jonathan Bernath of St. Louis, Mo., Eric Bernath of Schaumburg, Ill. and Jedidiah Vaccaro of Toledo; her father and stepmother, Kenneth and Rachel Norrick of Bryan; five sisters, Mrs. Burnell (Charlotte) Rettig of Holgate, Mrs. Don (Shirley) Ridenour of Coldwater, Mich., Mrs. Andy (Cassandra) Hasty of Springfield, Juanita Venderley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. Paul (Dawn) Crawford of Grass Lake, Mich.; and a brother, Lee (and wife, Jane) Norrick of Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Norrick, and a brother, Kenneth "Sonny" Norrick Jr. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Father Charles Ritter to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the family.

Arnold R. 'Buddy' New III
(1966 - 2007)

NDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Arnold R. "Buddy" New III, 40, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, March 3, 2007.
He was born Nov. 4, 1966, to Sharon (Grantham) and Arnold R. New Jr.
He worked as a city driver for Fed Ex Freight for 10 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Mishelle (Brinkman) New; a son, Justin Strange; stepson, Jeremy Knott; a stepdaughter, Nicolle Knott; his mother, Sharon New; brother, Robert New; grandmother, Maurine Grantham; nieces, Samantha and Shelby New and Chasity Fromm; nephews, Dustin Harper, Justin Fromm and Jerad Cooper; mother - in - law, Sharon Best; father - in - law, James Brinkman; stepmother - in - law, Pat Brinkman; brother - in - law, Kenneth Brinkman; sisters - in - law, Denise Cooper and Rondia Harper; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his father, Arnold R. New Jr.; grandfather, Arnold R. New; grandmother, Neva (Hicks) New; grandfather, Layman Grantham; and uncle, Doug Grantham.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Alternatives at Memorial Park. Services will be Saturday at noon in the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery.

Sheri Lynn Huffman

COLUMBUS - Sheri Lynn Huffman, 38, of Columbus, died Friday afternoon, March 2, 2007, at Ohio State University Medical Center, where she was a patient.
She was the daughter of Michael and Susan Huffman of Bryan.
Arrangements are pending with Krill Funeral Service.

Harold R. Weber

MONTPELIER - Harold R. Weber, 93, of rural Montpelier, died Friday evening, March 2, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan, following a lingering illness. Funeral service arrangements are pending at Wilson - Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.

Doris Jean Mealer Collier
(1923 - 2007)

STRYKER - Doris Jean Mealer Collier, 83, of Defiance, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare in Swanton.
Born April 20, 1923, at Defiance, to Beulah (Konst) and Tulloss Cromly, she married George J. Mealer on April 21, 1942, and he preceded her in death in 1979. In 1986, she married Leonard Collier and he survives.
Prior to her retirement, she was the former postmistress of Evansport for many years and then had worked as the office administrator for F.C. Schultz Plumbing & Heating in Defiance for many years. She was a member of the Evansport United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women and had also been a Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Sandra K.) Barber of Wauseon; five sons, James G. (and wife, Patsy) Mealer of Stryker, Randolph R. (Heidi) Mealer of Defiance, Herbert C. (Carolyn) Mealer of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Thomas A. (LuAnn) Mealer of Defiance, and David P. (Shelly) Mealer of Wauseon; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles L. (June) Cromly of Toledo and Donald (Pauline) Cromly of Defiance; and three sisters, Mrs. Don (Joanne) Lehman of Defiance, Mrs. George (Betty) Hornish of Nappanee, Ind. and Mrs. Kevin (Joyce) Kane of Delta.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Edgar - Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Evansport United Methodist Church with Pastor Hap Itson to officiate. Interment will follow in the Evansport cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Evansport United Methodist Church.

Arland W.F. Hodapp
(1925 - 2007)

Arland W.F. Hodapp, 81, of Bryan, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier.
Born April 26, 1925, at Piqua, to Clara (Eichler) and Joseph Hodapp, he married Billie Lou Osborn and, after 25 years of marriage, they divorced. He married Eloise Mae (Connell) Gilbert on March 19, 1977, at Bryan, and she survives.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a machinist at the former ARO Corporation for 32 years. He was a member of the First Brethren Church, Bryan, and the Bryan American Legion Post No. 284. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ann Lancaster of Sturgis, Mich.; five sons, Lee (and wife, Gail) Hodapp of Lexington, Ky., Larry Hodapp of Montpelier, Gary Hodapp and Bill (Judy) Hodapp, both of Bryan, and Mike (Michelle) Hodapp of Alvordton; three stepsons, Rodney (Janet) Gilbert of Bryan, Jerry (Sheryl) Gilbert of Archbold and Robert Gilbert of Pioneer; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Phil (Ruth) Doseck of St. Marys. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Kathleen Hue and Geri Hodapp; a grandson, William "BJ" Hodapp; and a brother, Joseph Hodapp.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, and Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the First Brethren Church, 13050 County Road C, Bryan.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the church with Pastor Sam Shultz to officiate. Interment with military graveside rites provided by the Bryan American Legion Post No. 284 will follow in Shiffler cemetery, rural Bryan.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospital and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care or to First Brethren Church, Bryan.

Lester Eugene Cook
(1905 - 2007)

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Lester Cook, 101, of Phoenix and a former long - time resident of Montpelier, Ohio, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007.
Born March 22, 1905, at Steubenville, Ind., he was the son of Josaphine and Albert Cook of Montpelier.
Retired from the Wabash Railroad in 1960, he then moved west due to his health.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Agnes; his sons, Terry E. Cook of Phoenix and Roland Cook of Montpelier, Ohio; daughters, Dianne Custar of Oklahoma, Judith Johnson and Sally Ann Blaising, both of Mississippi, and Kathleen Deker of Montpelier, Ohio; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lelah Gilbert of Bryan, Ohio, Lucille Tressler of Montpelier, Ohio, and Shirley Rediger of Ottawa, Ohio.
Funeral services were at Sunnyslope Presbyterian Church, Sunnyslope, Ariz. Burial was at Resthaven cemetery in Phoenix.

Hyrthal E. Aeschliman
(1916 - 2007)

STRYKER - Hyrthal E. Aeschliman, 90, of rural Stryker, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where he had resided since May 9, 2006. Born Dec. 12, 1916, near Wauseon, to Dora (Neuhouser) and Enos Aeschliman, he married Anna Stuckey on Feb. 18, 1941, and she survives.
A life - long farmer, he started out in Wauseon and then near Stryker, where he fed cattle and enjoyed carpentry on the farm.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he served on the Board of Directors of the Stryker Farmer's Exchange.
He was a member of Pine Grove Mennonite Church near Stryker where he served as elder, trustee, church treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Evan (Janice) Kreider of Vancouver, British Columbia, Mrs. Charles (Judy) Davis of Fort Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Doug (Betty) Beck of Stryker and Mrs. Marlin (Susie) Groff of Lancaster, Pa.; a son, David (and wife, Connie) Aeschliman of Stryker; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Galen Aeschliman, Derald 'Bud' (Louise) Aeschliman and Merle (Virginia) Aeschliman, all of Wauseon; and a sister, Marjorie Nafziger of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Aeschliman; and a granddaughter, Terri Davis.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 - 8 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker, with Pastor Walter Campbell to officiate. Interment will precede at 10 a.m. in the Lockport cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Mennonite Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
