Gavin Mathew Turski
December 19, 2005 - January 21, 2011

Gavin Mathew Turski, 5, of Napoleon, was carried to heaven on Friday, January 21, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Children's Hospital, Toledo.

He was born December 19, 2005 in Napoleon to Joseph and Stacy (Boyett) Turski.

Gavin was a student in Mrs. Shively's preschool class at Hope School. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew and friend. Everyone that met him, instantly liked him. He enjoyed Yo - Gabba - Gabba, Wheel of Fortune, Harley Davidson and Buzz Lightyear. He loved to be sung to and "The Wheels on the Bus" was one of his favorites. Gavin will always be remembered for his willingness to hug and his ability to tell you "Good Job".

He is survived by his parents; Joe Turski and Stacy Turski; grandparents, Linda (David) Snyder; Kenny (Carla) Boyett; Joe and Anna - Maria Turski; great grandparents, Evelyn and Roy Wallace; Shirley Boyett; Ramon Garcia; great great grandmother, Grace Shafer; and uncles, Dakota Boyett and Mark (Sara) Turski.

He was preceded in death by great grandparents, Carl Joy; Pete Boyett; Marcia Garcia and Julius and Veronica Turski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, with Fr. Fred Duschl officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood cemetery, Napoleon.

Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Hope Foundation.

Martha "Tina" Oren
October 10, 1947 - January 23, 2011

Martha "Tina" E. Oren, 63, of Deshler, Ohio died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born October 10, 1947 in Mason Co., West Virginia to the late Ernest Stotler & Martha (Wray) Webb. On May 26, 1984, she married Dwaine "Tiny" Oren, who survives in Deshler.

Martha was a homemaker, who lovingly cared for the neighborhood children. She was an exceptional cook, who seldom used a recipe; she enjoyed canning, doing crafts, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sisters, Diana (Marvin) Hoepf of New Riegel, Linda (Bill) Salyers of Fostoria, and step brother, Kenneth (Linda) Bowers of Tiffin; step children, Steve (Laura) Oren of Lima, Stan (Ruth) Oren of Gilboa, Susan (Jeff) Christman of Leipsic, Cynthia (Jeff) Garmatter of Gilboa, Sally (Tom) Halker of Columbus Grove, and Andrea (David) Johnson of Deshler, 20 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her step mother, Cora Stotler, and a brother, Clayton Stotler, Jr.

Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, where a memorial service will at 8 p.m. with Pastor Rhollin Rhoads officiating.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Dialysis Corp. of Bowling Green or the Oak Grove Nursing Home Activity Fund.

Marie M. Kruse
July 16, 1929 - January 24, 2011

Marie M. Kruse, 81, of Napoleon, Ohio died peacefully early Monday morning, January 24th, 2011 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1929 in Henry County to the late George and Clara (Mahlman) Buntz. On June 19, 1949, she married Harold Kruse, who survives.
Marie was a homemaker for 61 years. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp, where she taught Sunday School for 17 years, was a member of Care and Share, the church choir, and served as custodian of the church. She also volunteered at the Henry County Home, Northcrest, and the Lutheran Home.
She is also survived by children, Karen (Leroy) Keith of Napoleon, Nancy (Jack) Lawrence of Tedrow, Kenny Kruse of Napoleon, Kathy (Stephen) Strange of Napoleon, Steve (Darla) Kruse of Wauseon, Julie (Tom - deceased) Schriner of Napoleon, Eldon (Sherrie) Kruse of Napoleon, and Tom (Jodi) Kruse of Napoleon; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Laura Norden and Leona Durham. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan, an infant son, infant grandson, granddaughter - in - law, Dawn Keith, and a brother Walter Schroeder.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp. with Pastor Franklin Hays officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and on Thursday 1 hour prior the funeral at the church.
The family suggest memorials be made to Fort Wayne Worship for Shut - Ins or Arthritis Foundation Northwest Ohio Chapter.

Waneta D. Boyer
March 22, 1927 - January 31, 2011

Waneta D. Boyer, 83, of McClure, Ohio died Monday morning, January 31, 2011 at Bowling Green Manor, Bowling Green, Ohio.

She was born March 22, 1927 in North Baltimore, Ohio to the late Keys R. and Dorothy M. (Slaughterbeck) Ferguson. On September 29, 1946 she married William E. Boyer and he survives.

Waneta was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and a member of Concordant Fellowship.

She is also survived by children, Gail (Lloyd) Cary, Holgate, Ohio; Paul J. Boyer, Liberty Center, Ohio; Mark (Denise) Boyer, Highland, Michigan; Alan (Joyce) Boyer, Deshler, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Boyer and a twin brother, H. Wayne Ferguson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler. Interment will follow in Weston cemetery, Weston, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the services in the funeral home.

Jacob John Weaver
January 6, 1936 - January 23, 2012

Jacob John Weaver, 76, of Deshler, died Monday morning, January 23, 2012 in Florence, Kentucky while traveling to Florida.

He was born January 6, 1936 in Jackson Township, Wood County, Ohio to the late William "Bill" and Merna (Herbert) Weaver. On August 18, 1957 he married Darlene Faith (Long) Weaver in Hoytville, Ohio and she preceded him in death on April 24, 1997. On January 11, 2003 he married Yvonne (Ickes) Phillips and she survives.

Jake graduated in 1954 from Jackson Township High School and served in the U.S. Army and played trumpet in the Army Band. He was a lifetime farmer and also drove truck and sold seed for Dekalb Hybrids.

Jake was a member of Hoytville United Methodist Church; he served on the McComb Schools Board of Education from 1979 - 1997; was co - founder, with Phil Smith, of Jackson Livestock 4 - H Club; member of Ohio Farm Bureau; Wood County Cattleman’s Association; Sycamore Lodge #520 F.A.M., Deshler and Deshler American Legion Post #316. Jake enjoyed traveling to Hobe Sound, Florida in the winters and fishing.

Jake is survived by his family with wife Darlene; children: Ellen (Joseph) Bechstein; Jacquelyn Weaver; Tamara Jo (Dean) Massmann; William "Andy" (Sarah) Weaver; Laurie (Ron) Crawford; grandchildren: Emily (Matt) Henry; Nicole (Justin Geen) Bechstein; Megan Massmann; Mackenzie Massmann; Tonee Weaver; Caylei Rettig; Jacob John Weaver; Delaney Weaver; Shenley Hoops; Derek Hoops; Taylor Crawford and great-granddaughter, Faith Henry. He is survived by sister, Barbara (Kenneth) Petersen; brothers, Gene (Pam) Weaver; Richard "Dick" (Kathryn Blair) Weaver.

He is also survived by Yvonne’s children, Brenda (Dan) Cookson; Teresa (Richard) Lederer; Tina (Jeff) Meyer; and their children, Noah Cookson, Justin Lederer, Shelby Lederer, Cody Meyer and Lindsey Meyer.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Linda Huffman and Rev. Thomas Hoover officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Woodlawn cemetery, Deshler.

Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Hoytville United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Patricia Carol Hoskinson

Patricia Carol Hoskinson, 92, of Oak Island, NC, departed to a kinder, better place on February 2, 2012 while at home. James, as always, was by her side. She was also surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Patricia was born in Deshler, Ohio, on June 20, 1919, to the late Terrance B. King and Mildred House. In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brothers, Winfield and Byron King.
As a sophomore at Deshler High School, she met the love of her life, James Hoskinson. Shortly after graduation, on September 26th, 1937, they united in marriage. Thus began a love affair that would last for nearly 75 years. Their devotion to each other and their long and loving marriage was an inspiration to all who crossed their paths.
From her earliest years, Patricia was a talented artist. As a young child, she attended classes at the Toledo Museum of Art. At Deshler High School, she served as the artist and editor of the school paper. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the University of Akron. She was a dedicated art teacher in the Akron public school system for eleven years. While residing in Akron, she was accepted as a member of the Business and Professional Women organization. She also served as the President of the local chapter of the AARP in Akron, coordinating monthly dinners and speakers for senior citizens. Upon her retirement in 1978, she retired to beautiful Long Beach, NC, realizing her lifelong dream of living by the ocean. She became an active member of the Associated Artists of Southport, and served as their President. She was an active volunteer in various art groups in Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina, and was an award winning artist. Patricia was an active volunteer for the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport. Patricia and her husband James spent over thirty years traveling the world, touring nearly every continent, focusing on art and architecture.
Patricia loved spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived life to the fullest, until the end. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew her; she will never be forgotten. Her passion for life, art, education, and travel impacted her family forever.
James is forever grateful for the compassionate and kind care that Patricia received from Dr. Domenic Palagruto and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice group. Thank you Kim, Tammy, and Chris.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, James, of 74 years; two sons, David King Hoskinson and wife Jean Marterre of Charleston, SC, and Dennis James Hoskinson of Phoenix, AZ; four grand children, Maria Yonsun Reiss of Phoenixville, PA, Patricia Anne Ko of Traverse City, MI, David James Hoskinson of Laveen, AZ, and Susan Denise Stoddard of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves this world with 12 great grandchildren who adored her - David Jr, Joshua, and Courtney Hoskinson; India Reiss; Ashley, Rachel, Megan, and Alyssa Ko; and Faith, Elise, Kaitlyn, and Chloe Stoddard.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Deshler, Ohio. Burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerome F. Higdon
October 8, 1964 - February 7, 2012

Jerome Franklin Higdon, 47, of Deshler, Ohio died Tuesday morning, February 7, 2012 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.

He was born October 8, 1964 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to Carlos and Lola (Richardson) Higdon. On August 5, 1996 he married Carlie Walker in Shepardsville, Kentucky.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carlie; mother, Lola Higdon, Lebanon Junction, Kentucky; sons, Daniel Walker and Jacob Higdon, both of Deshler; sisters, Donna "Kathy" (Chip) Carter, Boston, Kentucky and Robin (Robert) Townsend, Frostproof, Florida; mother - in - law, Judy Brenzo, Norwalk, Ohio and brother - in - law, Jeremy Walker, Deshler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Higdon; sisters, Shauna and Cynthia Higdon; and father - in - law, Walter Walker, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Harvest Fellowship Church, Hamler, Ohio with Pastor James Erven officiating.

The family suggests memorials to Harvest Fellowship Church.

Erma Lee Crawford
October 9, 1925 - February 14, 2012

Erma Lee Crawford, 86, of Deshler, died Tuesday morning, February 14, 2012 at Oak Grove Healthcare Center, Deshler.

She was born October 9, 1925 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Carl and Ruby (Mooney) Day.

While both were attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois she met Laurel "Nick" Crawford. On February 26, 1945 they married and when Nick returned from service in World War II, together they operated Crawford Industries, a farm drainage and machine shop business in Deshler. Nick preceded her in death on April 18, 2002.

Erma Lee was a member of Deshler Presbyterian Church where she was a past elder, choir singer and superintendent and Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader for 10 years. She was a freelance writer and artist, and with this talent she loved to mentor many children with her skills.

She was a member of Northwest Christian Writers Group; Deshler Art League; Aladdin Club; Deshler American Legion Post 316 Auxiliary; and the former VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by sisters, Lillian Hines, Salem, Virginia and Ollive Williams, Maryville, Illinois; special nieces, nephews, friends and members of the Crawford and Day families.

Services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Deshler Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Shotwell and Pastor Richard Betts officiating. Burial will follow in Grelton cemetery.

Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m., Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and 10 - 11 a.m., Saturday prior to the services at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Deshler Presbyterian Church or donor's choice.

Steven M. Gorsuch
(June 12, 1950 - May 16, 2015)

Steven M. Gorsuch, age 64, of Stryker, Ohio formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away May 16, 2015 in his home. He was born June 12, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Eugene and Betty (Rotterdam) Gorsuch.
Survivors, Sisters, Susan Gorsuch, Toledo, Ohio. Judy (John) Paisie, Holland, Ohio. Brother, John Gorsuch, West Unity, Ohio. Nephew, Jacob Paisie, Holland, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
