Delores D. Hogrefe
May 4, 1933 - June 11, 2013

Delores Doris Hogrefe, 80, of Deshler, Ohio died Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013 at University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

She was born May 4, 1933 in Ridgeville Township, Henry County, Ohio to the late Elmer & Minnie (Kruse) Nagel.

On November 19, 1950 she married Lawrence Hogrefe in Stryker, Ohio.

Delores was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and former member of Deshler American Legion Post 316 Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping at Lucy's 22 on the Maumee River and Kelly's Island. Her and her husband, Lawrence were avid dancers and she specifically enjoyed line dancing.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; son, Kenneth (Rebecca) Hogrefe; daughter, Betty (Carl "Deacon") Robinson; grandchildren, Jason (Kristin) Hogrefe; Tatum (Amanda) Hogrefe and Crystal (Josh Coleman) Robinson; 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Keith; grandson, Chris Hogrefe; and brothers, Edgar and Harold Nagel.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Pastor James Budke officiating. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn cemetery, Deshler.

Visitation will be from 12 noon - 3 p.m. on Thursday prior to the services at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice.

Carol Frey

Carol Frey, 74, Wauseon, died early today, Feb. 8, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home in Archbold.

Joanne M. Storch Gerken
(1936 - 2007)

Joann M. Storch Gerken, 70, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at the Golden Living Center Northcrest in Napoleon, Ohio. Born March 16, 1936 to the late Rudolph and Amelia (Bartels) Storch, she married William "Bill" Gerken Jr. on May 26, 1957 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio, who preceded her on Dec. 29, 2006.
She worked as a filler operator for Campbell Soup Co. for 26 years retiring in 1997. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Henrietta Red Hat Society, Henry County Bowling Association, Campbell Soup Retirees, and the Henry County Senior Center Transportation, all of Napoleon, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Richard) Flowers of Deshler, Ohio, Kathy (Robert) Scheckelhoff of Bryan, Ohio; grandchildren, Natasha (Ryan) Muehlfeld, Rebecca Flowers, Abbey Flowers. Robby Scheckelhoff, Katey Scheckelhoff; and a brother, Richard (Dorene) Storch of Hamler, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Charles Kramer officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill cemetery in Napoleon. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 9 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Henry County Senior Center, or charity of the donors choice.

Denver 'Al' Alva Ridgway
(1930 - 2007)

Denver "Al" Alva Ridgway, 76, of Bryan, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan, where he had been a patient for several years.
Born Feb. 8, 1930, on a farm near West Unity, he was the son of Veree (White) and Virgil Ridgway. A lifelong area resident, he spent many years farming with his dad, uncle and brother Wayne on the Ridgway Farms. He also worked at the Bryan Handle Factory, Post and Dawson, and Shiffler cemetery.
Surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Jim (Erma) Johnson Moser of Defiance; a special friend, Julie Moe of Bryan; three brothers, Harvey (and wife, Jean) Ridgway of Grabill, Ind., Wayne Ridgway of West Unity and Rex (Betty Jo) Ridgway of West Unity; sisters, Mildred Sumner of Bryan and Mrs. Chet (Delores) Cook of West Unity; two sisters - in - law, Shirley Ridgway of Bryan and Audry Ridgway - Bigger of Hicksville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jay, Junior and Jim; a sister, Delilah Burns; a niece, Karen Barrera; a nephew, LaVon Sumner; sisters - in - law, Evelyn and Leota Ridgway; and brothers - in - law, Willard Sumner and Bob Burns.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Woodall to officiate. Burial will follow at Shiffler cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Virgil L. Miller
(Died July 19, 2012)

ARCHBOLD ~ Virgil L. Miller, 72, of Archbold, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 10, 1940, near Pettisville, the son of Charles and Bessie (Frey) Miller. He married Mary Ann Zook Miller of Honey Brook, PA, on August 15, 1964.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two children Audra (James) Mark of Elkhart, IN, and Brian (Tonya) Miller of Boston, MA; four grandchildren Alex Mark and Nicholas Mark of Elkhart, IN and Tenley Miller and Sydney Miller, Boston, MA; three brothers: Robert (Norma) Miller of Wauseon, Glen (Marilyn) Miller of Goshen, IN and Dale Miller of Bellingham, WA and two sisters, Ada (Andy) Brenneman of Lima, and Marilouise (Virgil) Waidelich of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Bessie (Frey) Miller; two brothers Kenneth Miller (Pettisville) and Marlin Miller (Wauseon); and a sister, Lois Short (Stryker).
After two years of 1 - W service in Denver, Colorado, Virgil spent his entire career of 46 years at Sauder Manufacturing, Inc. He served as President and CEO for 32 years until he retired in October of 2005, after which he served as Chairman of the Board until December of 2009. Virgil also served as Chair of several other boards, including the Goshen (IN) College Board of Trustees, Archbold Area Schools Board of Education, and Four Seasons International, Inc. (PA), as well as a board member of Sunshine Children’s Home (Toledo), Sunshine Foundation (Toledo), Mennonite Health Alliance (Goshen, IN), and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (Elkhart, IN). He greatly enjoyed his memberships to Zion Mennonite Church and Rotary International.
Virgil will be remembered for his passions of reading, golfing, running and servant leadership. Always generous with his time, he was energized by engaging in thoughtful conversations with family, colleagues, friends and others whom he met along the way.
Visitation hours will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 at Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold. A memorial service will also be held at Zion Mennonite Church on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 4:00 P.M., with Pastor Jeff Kauffman officiating. Private burial services with interment will be in the Pettisville cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Goshen College, Mennonite Economic Development Association (MEDA), or to family choice. Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Virginia B. Burger
(1920 - 2007)

DEFIANCE - Virginia B. Burger, 86, of Defiance, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Laurels of Defiance.
Born Nov. 24, 1920, in Defiance County, to Josephine (Hiler) and Walter Weidenhamer, she married Frank H. Burger in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1981.
She had been employed as a sales clerk at Vivian Keenhan's Dress Shop for many years.
A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she was a member of DAR and a volunteer for the Election Board and the American Red Cross.
Surviving are two sons, Edward (and wife, Ann) Burger of Defiance and Frederick (Katie) Burger of Cleveland; two daughters, Jill Baden of Defiance and Mrs. Douglas (Jennifer) Shindler of Defiance; seven grandchildren, Megan Burger, Ryan Burger, Ben Switzer, Cole Switzer, Abby Shindler, Drew Shindler and Laurel Pilch; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Masen Switzer; a brother, Jerry Weidenhamer of Columbia, Md.; and a sister, Mrs. Bud (Laura) Burken of Napoleon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Donald, Bernard, Bill and Charles Weidenhamer; and two sisters, Betty Stever and Margaret Wausserman.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Tim Kummerer to officiate. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Defiance.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Food Pantry and/or to Hospice, The Caring Way, of Defiance.

Dorothea Thatcher
(1923 - 2007)

MARK CENTER - Dorothea Thatcher, 83, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan.
Born July 26, 1923, at Fort Wayne, Ind., to Mary (Viskorff) and John Kissner, she married William Thatcher on July 18, 1942, and he survives.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne, Ind., she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church, the UMW and also the Farmer Get Together Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Robert (and wife, Peggy) of Ludington, Mich.; Gary (Cindy) of Hicksville and Tom (Dawn) of Mark Center; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Jr.; three sisters, Eleanor, Madelyn and Mary Jane; and three brothers, Victor, Richard and Raymond.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 - 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Katherine Riley to officiate. Burial will be at Lost Creek cemetery, Farmer Township.
Memorials may be made to the Sherwood United Methodist Church.

Steven M. Reiner
(1973 - 2007)

DEFIANCE - Steven M. Reiner, 33, of Defiance, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident on Ohio 15 south of Ney.
Born Oct. 21, 1973, at Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the son of Cora Mae (Howell) and Moury Reiner. A 1993 graduate of Tinora High School, he had been on the school's wrestling team.
He had graduated from motorcycle repair school in Orlando, Fla., and was employed as a laborer at Manufactured Housing in Bryan.
Surviving are a daughter, Morgan Reiner of Texas, Ohio; two sisters, Dawn Smith - Reiner of Toledo and Deborah Reiner of Hamilton, Ind.; three half brothers, David Reiner, John Mudel and James Mudel, all of the state of Michigan; four half sisters, Pam Reiner, Randee Krolikowski and Jill Samson, all of the state of Michigan and Anna - Marie Mudel of Defiance; and his mother, Cora Mae Reiner of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Defiance.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.

Charles L. Clark
(1934 - 2007)

PAULDING - Charles L. Clark, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at Hawthorn Court Nursing Home, Paulding.
Born May 26, 1934, at Defiance County, to Laura (Underwood) and Avery Clark, he married Betty Miller on March 18, 1958, and she survives.
Employed by Winzeler Stamping, Montpelier, retiring in 1993, he was a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 587, Paulding.
Surviving are six children, Rick (and wife, Sue) Clark of Vermontville, Mich., Terry Clark of Pikeville, Ky., Marsha Sherick of Holland, Randy Metz of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Frank (Denise) Vorac of Aberdeen, Md., and Bill (Janet) Reynolds of Edgerton; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Edna Mae) Cooley of Bryan; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Samuel, Gene and Burl Clark; and a sister, Betsy Ann Watson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Paulding United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Ben Lowell to officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Riverside cemetery, Defiance, with Paulding V.F.W. Post No. 587 to provide military rites.
Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of Den Herder Funeral Home.

Charles W. Roth
(1944 - 2007)

NORWALK - Charles W. Roth, 62, of Norwalk, died Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2007, at Elyria Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 16, 1944, at Norwalk, and was a lifelong Norwalk resident.
A 1962 graduate of St. Paul High School, he had attended the University of Toledo.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and was a life member of Post 2743 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk, as a lector and lay Eucharistic minister. He was also an Ohio High School Athletic Association baseball umpire, a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 626 and the Father Stephen Badin Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of Norwalk.
He was a longtime sports announcer for St. Paul High School and had previously coached baseball, basketball and golf at St. Paul.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Marcia (Thiel) Roth, who has ties to Williams County; sons, Michael C. (and wife, Jeanette) Roth and John P. (Michelle) Roth, both of Norwalk; daughters, Mrs. Leonardo (Mercedes) Vasconez of Riobamba, Ecuador, Mrs. William (Jennifer) Bunch of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Dan (Julie) Wise, Suzanne Roth and Annamarie Roth, all of Norwalk, and Mrs. Joshua (Cecelia) Monahan of Delaware; nine grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Angela) Roth of Norwalk, Donald (Mary) Roth of Norwalk and Paul (Jeannie) Roth of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Florence (Brengartner) Roth; a sister in infancy, Mary Florence Roth; and a grandson, Isaac Thomas Roth.
Visitation will be today from 2 - 9 p.m. in the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus honor guard will be posted from 5 - 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Mike Geiger will concelebrate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic cemetery, Norwalk.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul High School, 93 E. Main St., Norwalk, OH 44857 or the Norwalk Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program, care of St. Paul School, Norwalk.
