Richard "Dick" Rudolph, 79, of Napoleon, OH died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Henry County Hospital. He was born March 16, 1932 in rural McClure to the late Cliffton & Agnes (Miller) Rudolph. He was married to Carole (Glass) Rudolph, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2000. On October 20, 2001, he married Susan Crawford Rudolph at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McClure.
Dick was the former Police Chief for Napoleon from 1970 - 1984. He also worked as a Henry County Deputy Sheriff, and as a Napoleon Police patrolman and Sergeant. After retirement, he worked for Napoleon Walmart and was a driver for Grogan's Towne in Napoleon.
He was a 1950 graduate of Liberty Center and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McClure, the Napoleon American Legion, and was Past President of the MIO Law Enforcement Organization.
He is survived by his daughter from his first marriage, Lisa (Jim) Wilson of Knoxville, TN, his wife, Susan, and her children; Michell Crawford of Defiance, OH, Rayann (Wayne) Milum of Gahanna, OH, and Ronald Todd (Shawna) Crawford of Liberty Center, OH. 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. brother, John (Bernadine) Rudolph of McClure, OH and sisters, Bev (Milt) Overmier of Liberty Center, OH; Audrey Newell of Mason, OH; and Mary (Dick) Kondik of Findlay, OH. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McClure, and sister, Shirley Chamberlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon. Interment will follow at Forest Hill cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Napoleon Joint Veteran Posts.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 - 8 p.m and on Saturday from 10 - 11a.m.
The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, McClure Pantry Fund or Umbrella Fund, or Tuesday Quilters in care of Ula Kessler.

Joanne Y. Howe, 76, of Napoleon, Ohio died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. She was born July 3, 1935 in Grelton, Ohio to the late Vernon "Stub" and Hulda "Mutt" (Joy) McClure. On July 27, 1957, she married Paul Howe at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, Ohio.
Joanne was a nursing assistant for Henry County Home & Health and Northcrest Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Napoleon, the Napoleon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Ladies. She loved flowers, cooking, and had a special gift with people.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, children; Pamela (Thom) Weisenberger of Norwalk, OH, Teri Howe (Kelly Koepplinger) of Toledo, OH, Thomas (Pennie) Howe of Napoleon, OH, and Norbert Joseph Howe (John M. Loesch, Jr) of Philidelphia, grandchildren; Brad (Chelsea) Howe, Brian Anderson, Justin Brown, Amy Brown, Kevin Weisenberger, and Brad Weisenberger, great grandchildren; Levi and Kenleigh Howe; and sisters, Sandy Hale and Charlene Myles. She was preceded in death by 3 infant children.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Fr. Norbert Howe and Fr. Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Ruth M. Howe Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, payable to The Unity Foundation of LaPorte County, PO Box 527, Michigan City, IN 46361.

James W. Brown, 47, of Napoleon died Wednesday at his residence.
Surviving are wife, Lisa (Prewitt) Brown, children, Elizabeth and Alexandra, parents, James C. & Patricia (Belcher) Brown, sister, Tabatha Lloyd, and niece, Lydia.
Funeral at 11 a.m. on Monday at Napoleon Church of the Nazarene. Interment at Forest Hill cemetery.
Visitation on Sunday 2 - 8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Monday 1hr before service.

Pauline "Polly" Armbruster, 81, of rural Napoleon, Ohio died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her residence. She was born January 10, 1931 in Evansport, Ohio to the late Roy & Blanche (Cooley) Stitsel. On March 19, 1949, she married Lawrence Armbruster at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp.
Pauline was a homemaker and also helped her husband on the farm. She was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp for many years until her health kept her and her husband from attending. She also loved playing cards and was a member of the "Chatty Eight" card club, and the Red Hat Ladies.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, daughter, Debra (Jon) Pittman, daughter - in - law, Deborah Salaz Armbruster, both of Napoleon, grandchildren, Cody, Cassie, and Chad Pittman, and Jevin and Destin Armbruster, great grandchildren, Kaedin and Katelynn Pittman, and a sister, Mary Scott of Defiance. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Armbruster, great grandson, Jonny Pittman, and a brother, Bill Stitsel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp. with Pastor Robert Azinger officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and 1 hr prior the service at the church on Saturday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.

Rick Lee Leitner, 56, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family, due to complications from cancer. He was born on October 2, 1955, the second of five children to Robert and Marlene (Hunter) Leitner.
He attended Napoleon High school and Four County Vocational in the carpentry class. Rick worked for Dutchman Construction and Cornerstone Construction, was a self - employed carpenter; and for the last 15 years he worked at Alex Product, retiring due to his illness. Rick was instrumental in the construction of Leitner's U - Lock Storage of Napoleon. In recent years, Rick and his wife had purchased several homes which they completely renovated. Rick enjoyed bass fishing, mushroom hunting and pheasant and dove hunting. Rick had a way of approaching a total stranger about hunting their property and would be granted permission the majority of the time. Rick never met anyone he didn't like. He began building bird feeders that he gave away to friends or donated to several organizations to use for the benefits of others. Rick was a Green Bay Packer fan and member of Fort Defiance Bass Anglers, Maumee Valley Sportsman Club and Pheasants Forever.
Rick married Dawn D. Lange on May 17, 1980 in Napoleon, and she survives. Also surviving are his parents, children; Christopher, Randall and Elizabeth of Napoleon, his two dogs, Barker and Maggie, brothers; Tony (Carla) of Morrow, OH, Tim of Middletown, IN, and Terry of Alexandria, IN, sister, Vicki (Carl) Hill of Wauseon, and father and mother in - law, Kenneth and Nancy Lange of Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon. Burial will follow at Forest Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. and 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Fort Defiance Bass Anglers, Pheasants Forever, or Maumee Valley Sportsman Club.

Morris R. Kruse, 83, of Defiance, Ohio died Tuesday evening at CHP Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, Ohio. He was born June 27, 1928 in Ridgeville Twp. to the late Rudolph and Deana (Schroeder) Kruse. On January 20, 1952, he was married to Gwen (Croninger) Kruse at St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker.
Morris was a plumber for over 35 years and had farmed his family farm since he was a child. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, where he was a deacon and trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen, children; Barb (Rick) Baden, Dave (Deb) Kruse, and Mike (Pam) Kruse, all of Ridgeville Corners, OH, grandchildren; Jason (Nicole) Baden, Ryan (Kate) Baden, Kari (Justin) Dominique, Josh (Kelly) Kruse, Chad (Michelle) Kruse, Paul Kruse, and Mark Kruse, and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church, Corner of St Rte 6 & St Rte 66. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 - 8pm and Friday from 10 - 11am, both at St. John Lutheran Church.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the St. John Lutheran Expansion Fund, CHP Inpatient Hospice, St. John Stained Glass Windows, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Norma Maassel, 80, of Malinta, Ohio died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born August 23, 1930 to the late Otto and Margaretha (Damman) Gerken near Napoleon, Ohio. On October 13, 1951, she married Fred Maassel at Zion Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio.
Norma was a homemaker. She was a very active member at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler, where she served as Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, organist, secretary, and was active with the Ladies Group and Altar Guild. She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society and delivered Meals On Wheels.
She is survived by her loving husband; Fred, and blessed with four children; Diane (Randy) Rohrs of Ridgeville Corners, Mary (George) Kruse of Defiance, Larry (Robbie) Maassel of Malinta, Judy (Jon) Schamp of Wauseon, grandchildren; Andrew (Lori) Rohrs, Eric Rohrs, Kyle Rohrs, Lindsay Rohrs, Robert Kruse, and Michael Kruse; great grandchildren; Callie Rohrs, and Harrison Rohrs. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Ruth Roehl, and brothers; Adolph and Lawrence Gerken.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler with Pastor Alva Martis officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon.
The family suggests memorials to be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Napoleon Filling Home of Mercy, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Janet Rae Bernicke, 69, of Napoleon, Ohio died Monday, February 7, 2011 at The University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born October 23, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Raymond and Margaret (Burke) Bernicke.
Janet was a graduate of Napoleon High School and obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She taught second grade at West School in Napoleon for 34 years and retired in 1996. Janet continued working as a substitute teacher every year since retirement.
Janet was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Napoleon and served as a Deacon for several years. She was also a member of the Henry County Retired Teachers Association and State Teachers Retired Service. She always enjoyed watching her twelve nieces and nephews participate in various sports and activities.
She is survived by her two brothers; Robert (Mary Anne) Bernicke and James (Linda) Bernicke, a sister; Sally (Marvin) Weaver, nieces; Mary Meyer, Carol Bernicke, Peggy Bloom, Beth Dennis, Jeanne Rabe, and Susan Bernicke, and nephews; Tim Weaver, Tom Weaver, Mike Bernicke, Jeff Bernicke, Mark Bernicke, and Steve Bernicke. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Napoleon with Pastor Thomas Polker officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at the Forest Hill cemetery in Napoleon.
Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Friday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Napoleon.

Lyle D. Wallace, 71, of rural Napoleon, Ohio died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He was born September 23, 1939 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Don and Irma (Smith) Wallace. On June 16, 1972 he married Arlene (Damman) Flory and she survives.
Lyle worked for Miller Bros. Construction, Fleet - Mate Trucking and in 1990 he formed his own company, L.D. Wallace Excavating.
He is also survived by his children; Christy (Mark) Coutz of Pioneer, Cathy Lesniak of Clayton, MI; step children; Bruce (Monica) Flory of Maumee, Rhonda (Dennis) Bockelman of Napoleon, and Tamara (Rex) Leaders of Holgate, 6 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 11 step great grandchildren, brothers; Glen (Cleo) Wallace of Hillsdale, MI, Lester (Kay) Wallace of Chattanooga, TN, Jim (Ruth Ann) Wallace of South Lyons, MI, and Robert (Annette) Wallace of South Lyons, MI, and a sister; Carol Singer of Defiance. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda and a sister, Connie Wallace.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Twp., where he served as church deacon, church trustee, and on the cemetery board.
Lyle and his wife, Arlene loved camping and traveling. His special friend was his dog, Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Twp. with Pastor Stephen Niermann officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 - 9 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and on Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church.
The family suggest memorials be made to St. John Building Fund or the American Heart Association.

Pauline Emma (Damman) Gerken, 86, of Defiance, OH passed on to her heavenly reward on January 26, 2011 at the home of her daughter.
She was born on January 26, 1925 in Henry County, to Fred and Freida (Bostelman) Damman. She grew up in Freedom Township and attended St John's Lutheran Church. In December 1947, Pauline married Wilbert Kruse of Hamler, Oh. He preceded her in death.
Pauline was a dedicated mother and teacher. In addition to showing her children unconditional love, she also shared this love with her 1st graders at Holgate School. She was blessed with the ability to transform her 1st graders into affluent readers and instill an appreciation for learning. She used innovative techniques to encourage and inspire her 1st graders. She also used her teaching ability to share her faith at Hope Lutheran Church in Hamler, where she taught Sunday School and catechism. Despite the hardships that she experienced throughout her life, she maintained an incredible sense of humor and a very generous heart, all framed by an endearing smile.
Pauline is survived by her husband Mylo, children; Dan (Dinah) Kruse of Hamler, Dr. Roger (Patricia) Kruse of Perrysburg, MiChelle (Craig) Parsons of Liberty Center, stepchildren; Michael (Darla) Gerken of Defiance, James Gerken of Joplin MO, Pamela (Douglas) Bortz of Perrysburg, Barbara Hohenberger of Toledo, Rex (Mary) Hohenberger of Holgate, Roxanne (Bob) Fabien of Cleveland, Reg (Kathleen) Hohenberger of Perrysburg, 8 grandchildren; Christina, Kylene, Anna, Greg, Chad, Cullen, Alyssa, and Kaiden, 5 great grandchildren, two brothers; Walter (Ruth) Daman of Lafayette, CA, John (Marlene) Damman of Delta and two sisters; Luella (Loren) Beck of Gibsonburg, and Kathleen (Kenneth) Gerken of Napoleon. She was preceded in death by brothers Franklin, Henry, Arnold, and Victor Damman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
Friends may call on Monday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the church.
The family suggest memorials to the American Heart Association, St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, or a charity of the donor's choice.
