Deborah S. "Debbie" (Dodson) Stotz
(1954 - 2006)

DEFIANCE - Deborah S. "Debbie" (Dodson) Stotz, 51, of Defiance, died Friday morning, Aug. 11, 2006, at her residence.
Born Aug. 23, 1954, at Defiance, she was the daughter of Ella Mae "Pinky" Pinckley and Wallace "Pete" Dodson.
A 1972 graduate of Defiance High School, she received an associate degree from Northwest State College to become an executive secretary. She was a financial aid officer at Northwest State College for 21 years and had previously worked for the Air Force in Germany for seven years.
A member of St. John Lutheran Church, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 669 in West Unity, VFW Auxiliary No. 3360 and the Defiance Band Boosters and Alumni Band Boosters.
Surviving are a son, Tyler W. Stotz at home; a daughter, Jessica Rae Stotz of Bryan; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Vickie) Meyer of Tecumseh, Mich. and Connie Michalak of Maumee; her father and stepmother, Wallace "Pete" and Ruth Dodson of Grain Valley, Mo.; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a baby sister; maternal grandparents, Lucille and Joe Inzelone; and paternal grandparents, Jesse and Ruby Dodson.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 - 9 p.m. in the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home, with an Auxiliary service to be held at 7 p.m. by the VFW Auxiliary of Defiance and the American Legion Auxiliary of West Unity, and from 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Donald L. Luhring to officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance County.

Gerald W. Crites

CAMDEN, Mich. - Gerald W. Crites, 71, of Camden, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending at the George White Funeral Home, Reading.

Kathryn Wolf

Kathryn Wolf, 94, of Bryan, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio - Bryan.
Arrangements are pending at the Oberlin - Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.

Glennis "Glen" D. Watson
(1947 - 2006)

WESTVILLE, Fla. - Glennis "Glen" D. Watson, 59, of Westville and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at the Enterprise Medical Center, Enterprise, Ala. Born May 19, 1947, in Logan County, W. Va., to Liddie M. (Hazelett) and Henry II H. Watson, he married D. Susie Huggins and she survives.
A member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Ministries in Bonifay, Fla., he had served in the United States Army with tours of duties in Vietnam and Germany. He had worked at a cotton mill in Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother; a daughter, Sebrina Ann Watson of Toledo; two stepdaughters in West Virginia; sisters, Betty G. Raub of Bryan, Mrs. Dennis (Donna S.) Miller of Guernsey, Wyo. and Mrs. Richard (Myra G.) Franz of Rapid City, S.D.; and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father, an infant brother, Harold W. Watson; an uncle, Billy Watson; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at the Union Chapel Church of God at the corner of County Roads A and 18 with Rev. Dennis Jones to officiate.

William L. Beck

William L. Beck, 81, of rural Bryan, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
Born in Archbold, to Willabell and Frank Beck, he married Bette J. Beck and she survives. Employed as a plumber by the former ARO Corp. for 27 years, he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, William K. (and wife, Wendy) Beck of Temperance, Mich. and Richard Beck of Madison, Wisc.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Betty) Beck; and a sister, Mrs. Dale (Annabelle) Watts.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren. Pastor David Miller and associate Randy Miller are to officiate.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Hospice, The Caring Way, of Williams and Fulton Counties.

Marjorie Evelyn Davis
(1923 - 2006)

PIONEER - Marjorie Evelyn Davis, 82, of Pioneer, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at her home.
Born Sept. 22, 1923, at Dennison, Ohio, to Clara I. (Hicks) and Jesse A. Bridgeman, she married Oliver A. Davis and he preceded her in death in October of 1990.
A resident of Williams County since 1977, she had owned and operated the Exit 2 Carryout, located on the west side of Ohio 15, for eight years.
She was a member of the Pioneer American Legion Auxiliary and attended Bridgewater Community Church of rural Montpelier.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Marjorie) Patterson of Akron, Mrs. Russ (Sandra) Johns of Doylestown, Kathy J. Feldhaus of Warner Robins, Ga., Mrs. Steve (Shelley) Chalfin of Perrysburg and Mrs. Rick (Lori) Jaggers of Orland, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Rueben (Rose) Keener of Dover; and a brother, Austin (and wife, Opal) Leggett of Dover.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Dels Leggett; a great-grandson; two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon in the Bridgewater Community Church with Pastor Jerry Searle to officiate. Visitation will be held following the service.
Memorials may be made to the church.

Richard D. Hancock
(1934 - 2006)

STRYKER - Richard D. Hancock, 71, of Stryker, died early Monday morning, Aug. 7, 2006, at his residence.
Born Dec. 31, 1934, in Williams County, to Viola (Cooley) and Delbert Hancock, he married Paula K. Shaffer of West Unity on June 15, 1957, and she survives.
A 1952 graduate of Stryker High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving three years during the Korean War.
Shortly after returning home, he owned and operated a construction business, R. Hancock and Sons. He had also served on the Stryker Fire Department for 24 years, nine of those holding the position of fire chief.
He was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mike of Stryker and Mark (and wife, Kim) of Lancaster, Tenn.; a daughter, Michelle Boyd of Lebanon, Tenn.; four grandsons, Jason Hancock, Jacob Hancock, Matthew Hancock and Jordan Boyd; a granddaughter, Lauren Hancock; a great-granddaughter, Mia Hancock; a brother, Robert (Phylis) Hancock of Coldwater, Mich.; and his mother - in - law, Wanda Reynolds of Stryker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles "Chuck" Hancock.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Living Word Church, rural Stryker, with the Rev. Sam Wenger to officiate. Interment will follow in the Evansport cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.

Ronald E. Baker Sr.
(1942 - 2006)

BUTLER, Ind. - Ronald E. Baker Sr., 63, of Butler and formerly of Montpelier, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at his residence.
Born Dec. 15, 1942, he was the son of Betty (Stebing) and Earl Baker.
He had served in the U.S. Army and retired from Warner/Auburn Gear.
A former Butler Police Reserve, he was a member of the Butler Eagles and the Butler American Legion.
Surviving are a son, Ron (and wife, Chris) Baker of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Jeanne) Jensen of Butler; and two grandchildren, Cody and Samantha Baker of Butler.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the H.E. Johnson & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Glasscock to officiate. Burial will be in the Butler cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Butler Police Reserves.

Hubert W. Hutchinson
(1925 - 2006)

WEST UNITY - Hubert William Hutchinson, 81, of West Unity and formerly of Kunkle since 1955, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwestern Ohio - Bryan.
Born Jan. 7, 1925, in Kunkle, to Lottie (Fisher) and William Hutchinson, he married Mary Elizabeth Ensign on April 11, 1948, and she survives in West Unity.
A 1943 graduate of Kunkle High School, he later attended Bowling Green State University. After enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre, becoming a member of the Seabees and the Construction Battalion Unit No. 593, building airstrips. He organized a reunion committee of that unit in 1979 and they continue to meet annually.
His early employment was at the White Motor Company in Montpelier. He was also an assistant manager of the Sinclair Station on the Ohio Turnpike and became part owner of the Walters & Peck Insurance Agency in Bryan for 25 years, until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement, he continued to work part - time in insurance for the Saul Insurance Agency of Napoleon.
Attaining his 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Superior Lodge No. 179 F&AM of West Unity, the Eastern Star of West Unity and the Zenobia Shriners. He was also a member of the West Unity Lions Club, the American Legion Post No. 669 of West Unity and the West Unity First Presbyterian Church. He was a West Unity Village Council member and a Republican committeeman of Williams County, representing West Unity.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Cynthia) Boyer of West Unity and Mrs. Steven (Sandy) Hillard of Montpelier; two grandsons, K. William 'Billy' Boyer of West Unity and Andrew Hillard of Montpelier; three granddaughters, Abigail Garrett of West Unity, Mrs. Andrew (Emily) Schlosser of West Unity and Mary "Ali" Hillard of Montpelier; two stepgrandsons, Shane (and wife, Mary Lou) Hillard of Temperance, Mich. and Kyle Hillard of Cleveland; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, James (Jane) Hutchinson of Maumee; and two sisters, Nancy Smid of Leslie, Mich. and Mrs. LaMont (Carol) Knapp of Edon.
Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant daughter, Susan Hutchinson; two brothers, Paul and Robert Hutchinson; a brother - in - law, John Smid; and a grandson - in - law, James Garrett. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 - 8 p.m., along with Masonic services to be conducted at 7 p.m., in the Hollingshead - Beck Funeral Home in West Unity.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the West Unity First Presbyterian Church, with an hour of visitation prior to the services. The Rev. Dorothy Ritchey - Moore is to officiate. Burial with military rites by the American Legion Post No. 669 of West Unity will be in the Floral Grove cemetery in West Unity.
Memorials may be made to the West Unity First Presbyterian Church or to the World War II Memorial.

Paul C. Cape
(1918 - 2006)

EDGERTON - Paul C. Cape, 88, of Edgerton, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, in Parkview Nursing Center in Edgerton, where he was a resident.
Born March 8, 1918, near Edgerton, to Agnes A. (Goebel) and Guy C. Cape, he married Dolores H. Studer on June 22, 1944, in Blakeslee, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2005.
A lifelong farmer, he also drove school bus for the Edgerton Local Schools, retiring in 1983 with 22 years of service. He was a 1936 graduate of Edgerton High School and was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of John D. Smith Post No. 10 of the American Legion in Edgerton, where he served as sergeant - at - arms for 30 years. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1492 in Edgerton.
Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Ann Cape - Sunderman of Defiance; a son, Gary Paul (and wife, Pamela S.) Cape of Mason; a granddaughter, Holly D. Haines of Phoenix, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Gemma Marie Haines of Phoenix.; three brothers, Sherman O. (Rozella) Cape, Frank D. (Maralyn) Cape and Donald A. (Patricia) Cape; and three sisters, Ellen Sleesman, Mrs. Clarence (Rita A.) Wuebben and Rose Mary Johnson, all of Edgerton. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Arthur, Kermit and Conrad Cape.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Recitation of the rosary will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father Stephen Schroeder to officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary cemetery in Edgerton with graveside military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post No. 10 of the American Legion.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary School or Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Iva B. Yoder
(1920 - 2006)

DEFIANCE - Iva B. Yoder, 86, of Defiance died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at her residence.
Born May 26, 1920 in Grabill, Ind. to Leah (Neuhauser) and Louis Smead, she was married to Jonas J. Yoder on March 3, 1940 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1986.
She was a member of the Ney United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving are sons, Larry (and wife Sheri) Yoder, Marvin (Bobbie) Yoder, Dennis Yoder and Edward (Joyce) Yoder, all o Defiance; daughters Mrs. Marvin (Marlene) Crites of Ney and Karen Yoder of Defiance; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Smead of Grabill and Robert Smead of Harlan, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Florence) Gingerich of Defiance. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Louis, Arthur, William and Oscar Smead, and sisters Leah Reigsecker, Bessie Hursh, and Mary Meinerding.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Mast - Mock - Hoffman Funeral Home in Defiance and one hour prior to the funeral services at the Ney United Methodist Church on Wednesday.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Rick Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Ney cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church.
