EVELYN ELOISE PAGE PORTER
Evelyn Eloise Page Porter, 90, of Wilmington, Ohio died 1:28 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Quaker Heights Nursing Home, Waynesville, Ohio. Her husband, Thomas C. Porter, preceded her in death July 16, 1963. They were married April 5, 1942. Mrs. Porter was born October 5, 1918 in Wayne Township, daughter of the late Elmer Jack Page and Stella McPherson Page. She was a graduate of Wayne Township School.
Being primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Porter was adept at embroidery and making crafts. She enjoyed preparing fancy salads and creating delicious desserts. During W.W.II, German prisoners were encamped in tents behind the Clinton County Infirmary. She prepared lunch daily for the 15 young soldiers, who worked on the Porter farm. She was a member of the Wilmington Friends Meeting, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Order of the Eastern Star, the B.P.O. Elks 797 Auxiliary, the Mother's Club, and the Oriental Shrine. She also served as 4-H cooking club advisor for several years. Mrs. Porter's favorite activities were socializing with friends and attending club meetings. Her private time was devoted to reading, flower gardening, and collecting wine glasses. She appreciated theatre, attending Broadway shows in Cincinnati and enjoying Wilmington College Summer Theatre productions. She especially enjoyed Hugh Heiland's NYC Broadway tours. Mrs. Porter traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba with her family. Later with friends, she traveled the world visiting Africa, South America, Europe, India, and the Far East. Her four grandchildren and great granddaughter were a source of pride and enjoyment.
Mrs. Porter is survived by a son, James E. Porter; a daughter, Susanne Porter (L.D.) Kirk; a brother, Ben B. (Ruthanna) Page; a sister, Mary (Gene) DeVoe; her grandchildren, Lesley and Lance Kirk, Thomas James, and Jenny Porter; her great granddaughter, Lyla Susanne Kirk; two nephews, Gary Page and Wayne Page; and four nieces, Phyllis Carey, Janice McKeever, Barbara DeVoe, and Rebecca Hadley. In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers, Howard Page and Raymond Page, are preceded in death.
A graveside service will be held11:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at New Antioch cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmington Friends Church, 66 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to the Murphy Theatre, 50 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.

DANIEL EARL EHLERDING
Daniel Earl Ehlerding, 59, of Port William, Ohio died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 on Stone Road, Clinton County, as a result of a farming accident. His wife, Mary Winke Ehlerding, whom he married June 30, 1973, survives. Mr. Ehlerding was born February 13, 1950, in Jamestown, Ohio, son of Rosemary Moeller Ehlerding of Port William, Ohio and the late Dr. Howard "Doc" Ehlerding. He was a 1968 graduate of Wilmington High School and a 1972 graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in business production.
Mr. Ehlerding was a lifelong farmer. He also had a passion for blacksmithing, antique tractors, and tractor restoration. He collected rare and unusual tractors, trucks, and machine tools. He always was on the go, traveling across the country in search of old iron piles and finding steel wheels, engines or rare tractor parts. In the tractor community, he was known across the country as an expert in pre-1930 tractors. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington, the Clinton County Antique Power Club, and the Ohio Corn Growers Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Shawn W. (Joy) Ehlerding of Port William, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa-Marie (Justin) Reinhart of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Fred (Judy) Ehlerding of Hilliard, Ohio; three sisters, Mary (Brian) Davenport of Vienna, Virginia, Greta (Joe) Miller of Vienna, Virginia, and Sylvia (Steve) Myers of Sabina, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. James M. Wedig officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Port William, Ohio. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Edward Huber Memorial Association Endowment Fund, P.O. HELEN L. KIRK
Helen Louise Hull Kirk, 87, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Ohio, died 12:40 AM, Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville, Ohio. Her husband, Garland D. Kirk, preceded her in death December 11, 1962. They were married December 31, 1943. Mrs. Kirk was born September 30, 1922 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Ernest and Pearle Moore Hull. She was a 1942 graduate of Wilmington High School.
Mrs. Kirk began working at Model Dry Cleaners in high school and later worked for Weathervane Cleaners. She was a devoted employee of Murphy-Benham Hardware for 22 years. Her favorite activity was caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were a source of pride and enjoyment.
Mrs. Kirk is survived by a daughter, Linda (Noel) Nauber of Valencia, California; two sons, Larry (Susanne) Kirk of Wilmington, Ohio and Garry (Fay) Kirk of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Mary Frances Templin of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Galidan Nauber of Los Angeles, California, Ecole Lathrop of Santa Clarita, California, Lesley Kirk of San Diego, California, Lance Kirk of Wilmington, Ohio, Carrie Tunon of Wilmington, Ohio, Desiree Kirk of Wilmington, Ohio, and Jennifer Dill of Miamisburg, Ohio; and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Murphy Theatre Fund, 50 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.

MARY E. FITZGERALD
Mary E. Fitzgerald, 65, of Wilmington, Ohio died 7:40 AM, Friday, October 16, 2009 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. Her husband, Lee Fitzgerald, preceded her in death. Mrs. Fitzgerald was born February 13, 1944 in Newbern, Alabama, daughter of Mary L. Hicks Nevels of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Andrew Nevels Sr.
Mrs. Fitzgerald retired from the U.S. Naval Department in Cleveland, Ohio. After retirement, she returned to Wilmington where she was a longtime caregiver to her mother. She was a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by five brothers, Alfonso (Ruby) Nevels of Cleveland, Ohio, Edward Lee (Betty) Nevels of Wilmington, Ohio, Samuel (Judith) Nevels Sr. of Wilmington, Ohio, Leautry Nevels of Wilmington, Ohio, and Daniel W. (E. Veronica) Nevels of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Virginia (Clifford) Kilgore of Wilmington, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and father, a brother, Andrew Nevels Jr., is preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. Erwin McIntosh Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

HAZEL LOUISE STEPHENS-JACKSON
Hazel Louise Stephens-Jackson, 93, a longtime resident of Clinton County, Ohio, died 6:21 AM, October 21, 2009 at Autumn Years Nursing Center, Sabina, Ohio. She was born July 13, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Arthur Ray Runyon and Minnie Barto Runyon. She was a 1934 graduate of Martinsville High School.
She retired after 35 years as a L.P.N. She began her career at Clinton Memorial Hospital where she worked for 13 years. She then worked at Kettering Medical Center for 9 years. Her career then took her to Wilmington Health Care Center, where she worked until retirement. She was a charter member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wilmington, having been baptized into the church when she was 16 years old. She enjoyed being active at the Wilmington Savings Bank-Clinton County Senior Center.
Surviving are four sons, John E. (Joyce) Stephens of Wilmington, Ohio, Robert E. (Annette) Stephens of Dayton, Maryland, Ronald D. (Joni) Stephens of Oak Glen, California, and Charles B. Stephens of Wilmington, Ohio; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and her very dear friend, Harry Carruthers of Wilmington, Ohio. In addition to her parents, three brothers, Charles Runyon, Ivan Runyon, and Lawrence Runyon, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Don Myers officiating. Burial will be in New Antioch cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

H. BRIGGS BARRETT
H. Briggs Barrett, 89, of Wilmington, Ohio died 4:00 AM, Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his residence. His wife, Jean Rachford Barrett, survives. They were married October 18, 1952, and recently celebrated their 57th anniversary. Mr. Barrett was born February 7, 1920 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late H.A. Barrett and Lucille Briggs Barrett. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School. He then attended The Ohio State University and Washington & Lee University in Virginia before graduating from Wilmington College.
Mr. Barrett and his father owned H.A. Barrett & Son Feed Mills. Over the years they owned feed mills in Melvin, New Vienna, Leesburg, and Wilmington. He was a birth rite member of the Wilmington Friends Meeting and an avid sailor. He enjoyed traveling and working with Tennessee Walking Horses.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Barrett is survived by a daughter, Beverly Barrett (Tom) Browning of Wilmington, Ohio; a son, Ronald Briggs Barrett of Wilmington, Ohio; a brother, Marvin A. (Lee) Barrett of Paintersville, Ohio; sister, Ethel B. Dennis of Wilmington, Ohio; two granddaughters, Heather Leigh Browning of Wilmington, Ohio and Elizabeth Barrett Browning (Mark) Vance of Wilmington, Ohio; and four great grandchildren, Hannah Henson, Ethan Henson, Grace Vance, and Jacob Vance.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, October 26, 2009 at Sugar Grove cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio with Matthew Zuehlke officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton Memorial Hospital Foundation, 610 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to the Wilmington Friends Meeting, 66 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.

RALPH EDWIN BEAM
Ralph Edwin Beam, 91, of Wilmington, Ohio died 7:15 AM, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, Ohio. His wife, Eleanor Ann Wall Beam, preceded him in death January 9, 2007. They were married July 24, 1943. Mr. Beam was born August 18, 1918, son of the late Daniel Franklin Beam and Nancy Elizabeth Johnson Beam. He was a 1935 graduate of Spring Valley High School. He attended The Ohio State University for two years, until the start of the war. He then returned home to help his father with the farm.
Mr. Beam had been a farmer for over 70 years. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, a longstanding active member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, and an active member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau Council.
Mr. Beam is survived by two sons, Thomas (Diana) Beam of Wilmington, Ohio and Daniel (Ruth) Beam of Galena, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Beam of West Hills, California and Diana Beam (Peter) Gaines of San Ramon, California; two brothers-in-law, Herb Miller of Lambertville, Michigan and Tom (Barbara) Wall of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Michael Beam, Melissa Beam, Michelle Beam (D.J.) Gillman, Grant Beam, Tyler Beam, and Robert Gaines; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Chester Friends Meeting, 3463 Gurneyville Road, Wilmington, Ohio with Mike McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Friends cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Chester Friends Meeting.

JAMES AUSTIN TERRELL
James Austin Terrell, 87, of Atwood Farm, New Vienna, Ohio died 4:45 AM, Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife, Harriett Peelle Terrell, whom he married June 1, 1947, survives. Mr. Terrell was born February 27, 1922, son of the late James Gurney Terrell and Faith Austin Terrell. He lived all of his life the farmhouse in which he was born. The house was built in 1885 by his grandfather using many kinds of wood, all from the farm. He attended Wayne Township School, but graduated from Westtown School
Mr. Terrell was engaged in farming and his years spanned the time of working with Percheron draft horses to the tractors with air-conditioned cabs. He was active locally and nationally in the United Society of Friends and was a descendant to those working in northern Alaska and Oklahoma Territory. He cherished Wilmington College, libraries, and gardens. He was a former trustee of Wilmington College.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Terrell is survived by three sons, Jonathan (Marybeth, DVM) Terrell, Brian (Carol) Terrell, and Samuel (Tina) Terrell; a daughter, Susan (Tim) Simmons; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Cremation will be followed by a memorial service 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Fairview Friends Meeting on Antioch Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Clinton County Foundation for New Vienna library, P.O. Box 831, Wilmington, OH 45177.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Community Care Hospice.

DONNA LUCILLE DILLOW
Donna Lucille King Dillow, 70, of Clarksville, Ohio died 4:10 AM, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Clinton Memorial Hospital after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family when she left her earthly home to be with Jesus. She will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Dillow was born February 21, 1939 in Port William, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph and Thelma Hatch King.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Gerald Dean Dillow, whom she married November 22, 1958. Additionally, Mrs. Dillow is survived by two daughters, Nancy Upshaw of Jacksonville, Florida and Christina (Neal) Fisher of Wilmington, Ohio; a son, Mark (Jodi) Dillow of Clarksville, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Roberts of Waynesville, Ohio and Rena (Brian) Edwards of Wilmington, Ohio; two brothers, Roger (Jeanne) King of Port William, Ohio and Richard (Linda) King of Port William, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Brandy (Bill) Ruth of Clarksville, Ohio, Rusty (Nikki) Dato of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Laurie (Matt) Dato of Washington Court House, Ohio, Garrett Upshaw of Jacksonville, Florida, Tyler Waller of Wilmington, Ohio, Andy Fisher of Wilmington, Ohio, Meghan Fisher of Wilmington, Ohio, Katelyn Dillow of Clarksville, Ohio, and Zack Dillow of Clarksville, Ohio; Five great grandchildren and another special great grandchild on the way, Levi Runk of Clarksville, Ohio, Corbin Ruth of Clarksville, Ohio, Kalyn Dato of Washington Court House, Ohio, Neveah Skaggs of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Cali Mossabarger of Washington Court House, Ohio; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, a sister, Freida King, her brother, Russell King, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Kate Dillow, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Dennis Humphreys officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, December 4, 2009 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

ROBERT W. BRILEY
Robert W. Briley, 89, of 175 Cape May Drive, Wilmington, Ohio died 12:45 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. His wife, Louise E. Stethem Briley, preceded him in death May 12, 2005. They were married February 25, 1942. Mr. Briley was born September 28, 1920 in Quincy, Ohio, son of the late Ralph and Nola Airy Briley. He was a graduate of Xenia High School. He was a decorated Air Force veteran of World War II. During his military service he flew numerous missions over Italy, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
Mr. Briley retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he worked as an electrical technician. He was a longtime, active member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Xenia. Recently, he had been a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington. Over the course of his life, Mr. Briley had served as the St. Brigid High School boys' basketball coach, a Boy Scout leader, and as president of the Englewood, Florida Lion's Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Briley is survived by a son, Robert L. (Joy) Briley of Marion, Kentucky; a daughter, Denise B. (Daniel) Dehan of Wilmington, Ohio; three grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Briley, Brian (Amy) Dehan, and Sean Dehan; a step-grandson, Stephen Smalley; four great grandchildren, Tyler Dehan, Logan Dehan, Audrey Dehan, and Caitlyn Dehan; two step-great grandchildren, Freddie Smalley and Jack Smalley; a brother, Larry; a sister, Shirley; his dear friends, Donald & Betty Adams; and numerous friends at Cape May Retirement Village. In addition to his wife and parents, an infant daughter, Rita Briley, and two brothers, Dude and Kenneth, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2009 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. James Wedig officiating. Burial will be in St. Brigid cemetery, Xenia, Ohio with military honors provided by the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence Activities Fund, 75 Hale Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
