MARY JEAN DOWNEY
Mary Jean Downey, 88, formerly of Port William, Ohio, died 6:35 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Her husband, John Melvin Downey, preceded her in death. Mrs. Downey was born June 19, 1921, daughter of the late Clifford and Ruth Knisley-Wright.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford (Sharon) Downey of Pembroke, Kentucky and Gary (Connie) Downey of Xenia, Ohio; two sisters, Veda Mae Matthews of Xenia, Ohio and Carolyn Clifton of Fairborn, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Brent Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Port William, Ohio. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

MARY COMPTON LANG
Mary Compton Lang, 94, formerly of Wilmington and Kettering, Ohio, died 1:35 AM, Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald L. Compton, and her second husband, John R. Lang. She was born May 17, 1915 in Greene County, Ohio, daughter of the late John R. and Eva Weiss Baugh.
She had formerly worked as the bookkeeper for her family's business, Compton Metal Products. Most importantly, though, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had been in the Wilmington Mother's Club. Over the years, she touched many lives, she will be missed.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Patti) Compton of Lebanon, Ohio; a daughter, Donna Compton (John) Smear of Kettering, Ohio; a stepson, Jim Lang of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren, John (Ann) Compton of Wilmington, Ohio, Tom Compton of Fayetteville, Ohio, and Lisa Rulon Dunkel of Kettering, Ohio; five step-grandchildren, Jeff (Lori) Orth, Kim (Robin) Orth, Krista (Dave) Lewis, Dr. John (Julie) Smear, and Allyson Smear; five great grandchildren, Leslie Compton, Lauren (Shane) Patterson, Jordan Compton, Sarah Dunkel, and Chase Dunkel; several step-great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter, Scarlet Patterson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Chaplain Violeta A.T. Gwynn officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

JOHN EARL STEPHENS
John Earl Stephens, 73, of Wilmington, Ohio died 12:15 PM, Sunday, January 31, 2010 at his residence. He is survived by his second wife, Joyce Stephens. His first wife, Jessie Stephens, is preceded in death. Mr. Stephens was born March 8, 1936 in Burtonville, Clinton County, Ohio, son of the late Earl Stephens and Hazel Runyon Stephens Jackson. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Stephens retired from General Motors. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1224, and the Sabina Moose Lodge 1244.
In addition to his second wife, Mr. Stephens is survived by two sons, Steven Stephens of Wilmington, Ohio and John Jeffrey (Aleta) Stephens of Valparaiso, Indiana; two daughters, Debbie Freeman of Washington Court House, Ohio and Tammy (Stanley) Thompson of Texas; three brothers, Robert E. (Annette) Stephens of Dayton, Maryland, Ronald D. (Joni) Stephens of Oak Glen, California, and Charles B. Stephens of Wilmington, Ohio; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. The American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad will conduct military honors, at the funeral home 7:30 PM, Thursday evening. Following visitation, Mr. Stephens will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

DOROTHY JACK WARD
Dorothy Jack Ward, 83, of Wilmington, Ohio died 5:50 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Hospice of Cincinnati. Her husband, Donald Ward, preceded her in death December 5, 2002. They were married May 16, 1974. Mrs. Ward was born December 16, 1926 in Xenia, Ohio, daughter of the late Fred and Ethel Walden Jack. She was a member of the First Church of God in Wilmington.
Mrs. Ward is survived by two sons, Stephen (Dawn) Yeakley of Wilmington, Ohio and Dutch (Hobie) Yeakley of Greenfield, Ohio; two daughters, Jacqueline (Timothy) Branham of Mason, Ohio and Cynthia (Donald) Maher of Wilmington, Ohio; three stepsons, John Ward, Don Ward, and Allan Ward; a stepdaughter, Kimberly (Dennis Morris) Ward; four sisters, Betty Schweibold, Garnet Beam, Helen (Tom) Middleton, and Mary Lee Amlin; a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Jack; seven grandchildren, Mariah Warburton, Jarrod Branham, Jaime Branham, Judd Bradley, Andy Bradley, Betany Yeakley, and Chase Bradley; a step-grandchild, Louis Blair; and two great grandchildren, Chloe� Warburton and Camille Warburton. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, James Jack, and a sister, Janice Carol VanHorn, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Larry Speelman. Mrs. Ward will be cremated following the service. Friends may call from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Foster J. Boyd M.D. Regional Cancer Center, 31 Farquhar Avenue, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.

ROBERT D. SCOTT
Robert D. Scott, 76, of Wilmington, Ohio died 8:50 AM, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. His wife, Paulette Scott, whom he married January 2, 1986, survives. Mr. Scott was born June 6, 1933 in Illinois, son of the late Robert and Ann Marie Jackson Scott. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Scott was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18. In 2009 he received the 50-year service award from Local 18. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and driving his golf cart. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to NASCAR and sprint car races. He loved to cook, but his passion was playing bluegrass music on his guitar.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Scott is survived by two sons, Billy (Sandy Woolrigle) Scott of Morristown, Tennessee and John (Cathy) Scott of Hunter, Ohio; a daughter, Kathy Scott of Lewiston, Idaho; a sister, Mary Lou (Don) Cleaver of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brandy (Russ) Cordy of Blanchester, Ohio, Kyle Scott of Lebanon, Ohio, Nicolette Scott of Lewiston, Idaho, and Brandon Scott of Lewiston, Idaho; four great grandchildren; his cousin, Charles; close friends, Barth & Carmel and Ty; and his army buddy, Jim Spahr. In addition to his parents, one son is preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Travis Corzatt officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all those that inspired Mr. Scott's love of bluegrass music over the years. They would also like to extend a special thank you to the third floor staff of Clinton Memorial Hospital for the excellent care Mr. Scott received.

ELIZABETH MARY "BETTY" MAGEE
Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Magee, 94, formerly of Wilmington, Ohio died 2:45 AM, Friday, February 26, 2010 at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs, Ohio. Ms. Magee was born April 16, 1915 in Mankato, Minnesota, daughter of the late Howard H. and Jesse Haynes Magee. She was a graduate of Wilmington College. She later received her Master's degree in education from the University of Cincinnati.
Ms. Magee was a teacher at Milford High School for 32 years. She retired in 1973. She was a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church, the Progress Club, the United Methodist Women's Organization, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Clinton County Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by a nephew, John (Sheri) Mothersole of Wilmington, Ohio; and her great nieces and great nephews, Jessica Mothersole, Jerry Morris, Megan Ratliff, and John Lawson. In addition to her parents, a sister, Ruth Mothersole, a nephew, Tom Mothersole, and a great nephew, Ed Mothersole, are preceded in death.
A graveside service will be held at Sugar Grove cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, c/o Charles Borton, 1137 W. Mount Pleasant Road, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.

MARY McCONNAHA LEWIS
Mary McConnaha Lewis, 84, of Wilmington, Ohio died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Ronald J. Lewis, preceded her in death in 1970. They were married April 2, 1949. Mrs. Lewis was born June 15, 1925 in Highland County, Ohio, daughter of the late Homer Creed McConnaha and Mildred Wallace McConnaha. She was a 1943 graduate of Wilmington High School.
Mrs. Lewis worked at various Clinton County offices before beginning her 20-year career with the Selective Service System. She started with the Clinton County Selective Service Office until being appointed supervisor of the Middletown Office. She was then chosen to be supervisor of the Mansfield office which oversaw all of northeastern Ohio. After the termination of the draft board, the Selective Service offices were closed and Mrs. Lewis returned to Wilmington. She completed her career with the Irwin Company, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, and had been a member of the Wilmington English Club and the Sharon Mother's Club.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by a son, Mark Lewis of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Joan (Dick) McKay of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother, Harold McConnaha of St. Marys, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, a sister, Nora Jean McConnaha, and a brother, H. Wallace McConnaha, are preceded in death.
She was a loving, caring, and giving mother to her son, and displayed the same qualities to family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. John Beers officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

RONALD L. "RONNIE" GASAWAY
Ronald L. "Ronnie" Gasaway, 60, of Wilmington, Ohio died 7:00 AM, Monday, March 1, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Gasaway was born November 15, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, son of Clifford A. Gasaway of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Dorothy D. Ellis Gasaway. He was a 1967 graduate of Clinton Massie High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Gasaway had been a ramp loader at Airborne Express. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as someone who was always happy and always smiling.
In addition to his father, Mr. Gasaway is survived by three sons, Steve (Kara) Gasaway of Wilmington, Ohio, Rick (Cheyenne) Gasaway of Clarksville, Ohio, and Kyle (Kylee) Gasaway of Wilmington, Ohio; a brother, Jack (Charlotte) Gasaway of Wilmington, Ohio; six grandchildren, Rashauna Medley, Dakota Gasaway, Taylor Gasaway, Gage Gasaway, Addisyn Gasaway, and Kyndel Gasaway; his girlfriend of 25 years, Susan Irwin; her children, Stanley Irwin and Angel Irwin, whom he thought of as his own children; as well as their children, Brayden Irwin and Riley Cook, whom he treated as his own grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor John Laufer officiating. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

ROBERT HOWARD KERMAN
Robert Howard Kerman, 82, of Wilmington, Ohio (formerly of Batavia, Illinois) died 7:10 AM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Wisneski Kerman. Mr. Kerman was born September 6, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of the late Leland Jesse Kerman and Lucille Owen Kerman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in engineering.
Mr. Kerman had been a project engineer for the Furnas Electric Company. He was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and a former member of the Batavia United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kerman is survived by a son, Richard Howard (Robyn) Kerman of Morrow, Ohio; a daughter, Janet Sue Kerman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and eight grandchildren, David Kerman, Sean Kerman, Ashley Kerman, Wesley Kerman, Allison Kerman, Erica Kerman, Ryan Kerman, and Lauren Kerman. In addition to his parents, a son, Steven Robert Kerman, a daughter, Sandra Lynn Kerman, and a brother, Ralph Owen Kerman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Sabina cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.

GLADYS WILSON
Gladys Wilson, 99, of Wilmington, Ohio (formerly of Wayne City, Illinois) died 9:05 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Cape May Retirement Village. Her husband, Walter Wilson, preceded her in death May 13, 1989. Mrs. Wilson was born July 23, 1910 in Wayne County, Illinois, daughter of the late Pink and Oria Rainwater Lane.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church and attended Bible Baptist Church after moving to Wilmington.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by a son, Gary (Sandra) Wilson of Wilmington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Melinda (Brian) Bubp of Fort Recovery, Ohio and Brent Wilson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and three great grandchildren, Alexis Bubp, Ava Bubp, and Audra Bubp. In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers, Leslie Lane and Wilbert Lane, and five sisters, Helen Johnson, Louise Knauss, Ruth Wood, Rena McKinney, and Vera Scott are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City, Illinois at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Thomason cemetery in Illinois.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Cape May and Community Care Hospice for the excellent care and compassion extended to Mrs. Wilson.
