WILLIAM ELLSWORTH BURNS
William Ellsworth Burns, 73, of Wilmington, Ohio died 8:15 AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his residence. His wife, Evelyn Peyton Burns, whom he married September 11, 1963, survives. Mr. Burns was born November 15, 1936 in Highland, Ohio, son of the late Edward Y. and Margaret Rockhold Burns. He was a 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years.
Mr. Burns retired from the Wilmington Police Department where he served for 24 years. After his retirement he worked for the Clinton County Municipal Court as a bailiff and probation officer. He was a member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 25 years. He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Police, a past president of the Clinton County Youth Center, and a past president of the Clinton County Humane Society.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Burns is survived by two daughters, Deborah Burns of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Julie Burns of Wilmington, Ohio; a brother, Darrell Hancock of Wilmington, Ohio; two sisters, Sarah Clark of Ridgeway, Ohio and Geneva (Wesley) Burns of Hillsboro, Ohio; a granddaughter, Jaebreon Kalee Burns; a sister-in-law, Justine Burns of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Morton of Wilmington, Ohio and Richard Green of Wilmington, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a son, Darren Michael Burns, two brothers, Donald Burns and Cecil Burns, and two sisters, Martha Ellen Burns and Mildred Robinson, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 243 Grant Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Dr. Kurtis L. Summerville officiating. Burial will be in High Top cemetery, Highland County. Friends may call from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. HELEN L. RANNELLS
Helen Louise Bevan Rannells, 90, formerly of Cape May in Wilmington went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Ralph T. Rannells. They were married on May 2, 1941. Mrs. Rannells was born February 28, 1920 in Blanchester, Ohio, daughter of the late Horace and Elma Sprouse Bevan.
After graduating from Adams High School in 1938 and attending Springfield Business College, Helen enjoyed her professional career with the Federal government in Wapakoneta, Bellefontaine, and Findlay Ohio. She retired as Clerk for the Clinton County Commissioners. As a retiree, she found great enjoyment in genealogical research through the Clinton County Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Colonist (Colonel Robert Bolling Chapter), and the Daughters of the American Revolution (George Clinton Chapter). Pursuing her interests in reading, politics, and learning, Helen was a long-time member of Progress Club and Clinton County Republican Women. She centered her life on her Christian faith. As an active church member beginning with her childhood years at Springfield Friends Meeting House, and ending at Wilmington United Methodist Church, she worshipped regularly and served on a variety of committees and in the United Methodist Women. One of Helen's joys in life was exploring new places. She traveled with her husband and children in Europe, to Alaska, Hawaii, and throughout the continental USA.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by a son, retired Pastor Thomas A. (Joanne) Rannells of Portland Oregon; a daughter, Patricia (James) Moats of Columbus Ohio; and two brothers, Neil Bevan of Wilmington, Ohio and Robert Bevan of Clarksville, Ohio. She will also be missed by her 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 50 E. Locust Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM at the Wilmington United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 61 E. Main Street, Suite D, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Mill Run Care Center staff in Hilliard, Ohio, and Home Reach Hospice for their tender care of our mother and wife.

BETTY L. WEIS
Betty L. Weis, 86, of Monroe, North Carolina (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) died 1:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Plantation Estates Nursing Home, Matthews, North Carolina. Her husband, Francis G. "Bud" Weis, preceded her in death October 21, 2001. They were married March 14, 1942. Mrs. Weis was born August 15, 1923 in Loveland, Ohio, daughter of the late Harris B. and Helen Brockman Haley. She was a graduate of Loveland High School.
Mrs. Weis had been a teller at Home Federal Savings & Loan in Wilmington. She was a member of the Wilmington Presbyterian Church, the Elks Auxiliary #797, and several bridge clubs. She was also a longtime volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Weis is survived by a son, Michael G. (Jennifer) Weis of Monroe, North Carolina; two sisters, Lois Brown of Loveland, Ohio and Norma Koerkel of Loveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Teresa) Weis of Wingate, North Carolina and Mark (Kellie) Weis of Rock Hill, South Carolina; three great grandchildren, Keely Weis of Blanchester, Ohio, Connor Weis of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Colin Weis of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and three step great grandchildren, Alicia Sorgen of Wingate, North Carolina, Jenna Sorgen of Wingate, North Carolina, and McKala Sorgen of Wingate, North Carolina. In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers, Robert Haley and William Haley, and a sister, Jane Tracey, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. David Judd officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. LUCILE BECKETT
Lucile Beckett, 95, went to be with the Lord 1:05 AM, Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Her husband, George C. Beckett, preceded her in death December 12, 1997. They were married February 16, 1935. For the last few years she had resided at Cape May in Wilmington, Ohio, but lived most of her life on the family farm on Wilmington-Lebanon Road in Warren County. Mrs. Beckett was born August 19, 1914 in Warren County, Ohio, daughter of the late Sherman and Anna Villars Ferris.
Mrs. Beckett was a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church and was active in the Olive Branch Women's Society. She was also a member of the Clarksville Grange and a past matron of the Clarksville Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing euchre and dominoes.
Mrs. Beckett is survived by three sons and four daughters-in-law, Don (Pat) Beckett of Lebanon, Ohio, Keith (Wilma) Beckett of Dunlap, Tennessee, Alan (Patty) Beckett of Oregonia, Ohio, and Bernadine Beckett of Wilmington, Ohio; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy (Roger) Collins of Wilmington, Ohio and Susan Irwin of Wilmington, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, Amber Deere, Brenda Beckett, David (Michelle) Beckett, Keith (Nicole) Beckett, Jason Beckett, Steve Beckett, Jessica Beckett, Jeremiah Beckett, Doug (Patty) Beckett, Dean (Sharon) Beckett, Cindy Beckett, Debbie (Chuck) Gillen, Todd Collins, Chad Collins, Stanley Irwin, and Angel Irwin; 16 great grandchildren, Conor Beckett, Claire Beckett, Ireland Beckett, Sabrina Beckett, Calvin Beckett, Bridget Beckett, Tiffany Fallis, Justin (Elisha) Beckett, Dirk Beckett, Lauren Beckett, Trisha Gillen, Kristen Gillen, Caylee Collins, Kelsee Collins, Brayden Irwin, and Riley Cook; and five great-great grandchildren, Jace Fallis, Cole Fallis, Brooklynn Beckett, Addison Beckett, and Duke Beckett. In addition to her husband and parents, a son, Charles W. Beckett, is preceded in death.

RUTH M. HAMILTON
Ruth M. Hamilton, 91, of Wilmington, Ohio died 2:14 PM, Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. Her husband, Lewis C. Hamilton, preceded her in death December 19, 1987. They were married June 12, 1937. Mrs. Hamilton was born December 28, 1918 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret Leisure Walter.
Mrs. Hamilton retired from Wilmington High School where she served as the cafeteria manager for 30 years. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church, a founder of the Helperettes Mothers Club, and a 50-year member of the Sacred Heart Sodality of St. Columbkille. An avid card player, she was active in the Tuesday Bridge Club, as well as numerous other bridge clubs. She was also involved with the Clinton County Senior Center, and had been a longtime supporter of the Wilmington High School Booster Club.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by two sons, Edward J. (Barbara) Hamilton of Wilmington, Ohio and Lewis R. (Susan) Hamilton of Rochester, New York; a daughter, Martha L. (Darwin) Herriff of Mason, Michigan; a sister, Ann Martin of Harrison, Ohio; six grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Hamilton of Powell, Ohio, Deborah Hamilton (Rusty) Rich of Waynesville, Ohio, Amy Hamilton (Lynn) Bowerman of New York, Julie Hamilton (Mike) Romanski of Michigan, Doreen Henry (Dirk) Streeter of Michigan, and Kathleen Henry (Art) Morales of Texas; two step grandchildren, James (Robin) Herriff of Florida and Dawn Patterson of Michigan; 16 great grandchildren, Katie Hamilton, Jessie Hamilton, Jennie Hamilton, Justin (Amy) Rich, Jarrod (Lindsey) Rich, Jordan Rich, Jenna Rich, Austin Streeter, Wyatt Streeter, Tristen Streeter, Amanda Romera, Hannah Bowerman, Madison Romanski, Allison Romanski, Cy Morales, and Maren Morales; two step great grandchildren, Jordan Herriff and Rachael Herriff; and four great-great grandchildren, Avalon Rich, Kalyn Rich, Alexa Rich, and Natalie Rich. In addition to her husband and parents, a sister, Edna Christen, is preceded in death.
The family would especially like to thank Janet "J.B." Brown, the staff of Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence, Community Care Hospice, Father Jim Wedig, Deacon Bob Baker, and Deacon Bob Meyer for all of the kindness shown to Mrs. Hamilton.

DOROTHY M. SLYBY
Dorothy M. Slyby, 84, of Wilmington, Ohio died 2:52 PM, Monday, July 26, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Her husband, Abraham Slyby, preceded her in death in 1990. They were married January 6, 1946. Mrs. Slyby was born January 12, 1926 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Walter and Ollie Ward Current. She was a member of Wilmington Baptist Temple.
Mrs. Slyby is survived by a son, Michael R. (Therese) Slyby of Waynesville, Ohio; two daughters, Donna (Lee) Clary of Chillicothe, Ohio and Sharon K. (Joseph P.) Sprenz of Wilmington, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julie Slyby of Waynesville, Ohio, Jennifer Slyby of Waynesville, Ohio, Matthew (Holly) Lawrence of Youngstown, Ohio, Rebekah (Jamie) Dray of Chillicothe, Ohio, Kathy J. (Brian) McCord of Wilmington, Ohio, and Amy Jo (Chad) Jones of Dayton, Ohio; and five great grandchildren, Carter Dray, Casey Dray, Samantha McCord, Sydney McCord, and Elliot Jones. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, Raymon Current, and three sisters, Geneva Vandermark, Helen Bell, and Donna Isaly, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Wilmington Baptist Temple, 2873 U.S. 68 S., Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Andy Doherty officiating. EDMUND CHANDLER
Edmund Chandler, 82, of Wilmington, Ohio died 11:10 PM, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Brighton Gardens, Centerville, Ohio. His wife, Ethel Chandler, preceded him in death October 13, 2005. They were married July 21, 1951. Mr. Chandler was born November 10, 1927 in St. Martin, Brown County, Ohio, son of the late Edmund Chandler Sr. and Alma Iuen Chandler. He was a 1945 graduate of Wilmington High School.
During his life, Mr. Chandler had been involved in dairy farming and had worked for Chandler Construction in Hillsboro. Later he became a real estate developer and owned rental properties. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers. He loved baseball and the Indianapolis 500. He also enjoyed traveling and architectural work.
Mr. Chandler is survived by three sons, Michael Lee Chandler of Wilmington, Ohio, Fred Joseph Chandler of Wilmington, Ohio, and John Scott (Sheila) Chandler of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Christa Elizabeth (Michael) Hayslip of Centerville, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Ka-Shira Chandler, Kameron Chandler, Kolten Chandler, and Chandler Hayslip. In addition to his wife and parents, two brothers, James Edmund Chandler and Louis Joseph Chandler, and two sisters, Alfreda Rose Chandler and Mary Eleanor Fisher, are preceded in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Rev. James M. Wedig officiating. DAVID NEAL CHAPMAN
David Neal Chapman, 81, of Wilmington, Ohio died 7:05 PM, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Chapman was born May 4, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Raymond N. and Maude Schetzel Chapman.
He graduated from Wilmington College in 1951. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Korea with the 187th Regimental Airborne Combat Team.
Mr. Chapman sold welding supplies in the Dayton area throughout his career. He was a member of the Xenia Friends Meeting, the B.P.O. Elks #797, the Wilmington Lion's Club, and the American Legion Post 49.
Mr. Chapman is survived by a brother, Robert (Patricia) Chapman of Kettering, Ohio; a niece, Kathleen (Tony) Dick of Cincinnati, Ohio; a nephew, Robert (Brenda) Chapman of Maineville, Ohio; two great nephews, Jake Chapman and Luke Chapman; a great niece, Kaylee Chapman; and a cousin, Hazel Graves of Fairborn, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Xenia Friends Meeting, 520 Chestnut Street, Xenia, Ohio with Jackie Speicher officiating. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Springfield Friends cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad. SHARON STOLLINGS VICKERS
Sharon Stollings Vickers, 59, of Xenia, Ohio died 5:20 PM, Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Greene Oaks Health Center, Xenia, Ohio. Her husband Ted Vickers, preceded her in death. Mrs. Vickers was born February 17, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Frederick W. Stollings and Dorothy M. Smith Stollings Bridges. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and had been a member of the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Vickers is survived by a brother, Ken (Carol) Stollings of Fairborn, Ohio; a nephew, Jamie (Amanda) Stollings of Fairborn, Ohio; a great niece, Makinzie Rose Stollings; an aunt, Evelyn Cyphers of Xenia, Ohio; a cousin, Marty Cyphers of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. ANDREW F. BOLLINGER
Andrew F. Bollinger, 32, of Columbus, Ohio (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) died unexpectedly Monday, August 2, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Bollinger was born April 16, 1978 in Kettering, Ohio, son of Frank J. Bollinger of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Patricia K. Anderson Bollinger. He was a 1996 graduate of Wilmington High School and was employed in the construction industry.
In addition to his father, Mr. Bollinger is survived by two brothers, Matthew (Rebecca) Bollinger of Blanchester, Ohio and Brent Bollinger of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Julie Bollinger of Wilmington, Ohio; and two nieces, Emily Bollinger and Katelyn Bollinger.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Expo Center on the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

JAMES M. HOMAN
James M. Homan, 80, of Wilmington, Ohio died 7:25 PM, Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife, Dolly Smith Homan, whom he married December 9, 1974, survives. Mr. Homan was born June 5, 1930 in Clinton County, Ohio, son of the late John Carder Homan and Lillian Marie Maxfiel Homan. He was a graduate of Clarksville High School.
Mr. Homan retired from Cincinnati Milacron. After his retirement he worked for Senco in Milford. He was currently employed by Lowes in Wilmington. He was a member of the F&AM; Lodge #191 in Blanchester, Ohio. He was very artistic and produced wonderful pencil drawings. He also enjoyed restoring furniture.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Homan is survived by six sons, Mike (Paula) Homan of New Vienna, Ohio, John (Christine) Homan of Trenton, Ohio, Gary (Diana) Handy of Wilmington, Ohio, James (Pamela) King of Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard Wertz of Wilmington, Ohio, and Terry Wertz of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Brewer of Union, Kentucky and Jennifer Minzler of Wilmington, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a son, David Handy Jr., and a brother, Hubert Carder Homan, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Pastor Mike Cornett officiating. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
