Gordis Jean Brutsche

Norwalk, Ohio - Gordis Jean Brutsche, 87, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 29, 2011, in her home. She was born February 27, 1924 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late John and Gordis (Drumm) McDonnell.
She moved to the Bronx, New York at the age of 6 weeks. Jean graduated from Walton High School and attended Brooklyn College. She was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church. During W.W. II she was a penpal with many servicemen and when they returned to port, she would show them around the city. Jean married the late Henry Brutsche December 13, 1947 in N.Y.C. She worked several years at the G.E. Lamp Plant in Bellevue. She was a homemaker, a cub scout den mother, and girl scout leader for several years and was the Norwalk City cookie chairperson for Girl Scout Cookie distribution. Jean was a former volunteer for the Norwalk Park and Rec softball league. She enjoyed needlework, reading, classical music, and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting, music and theatrical performances. Jean enjoyed reading and writing letters. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Jenny and Tim Kelley of Wakeman, Ohio, by her sons and daughters in law, Bil and Susan Brutsche, of Norwalk, Ohio, Richard and Terri Brutsche, of Norwalk, Ohio, and Skip and Mary Ann Brutsche of New London, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean is also survived by her brothers and sister in law, James Brutsche, Thomas Brutsche, Phillip Brutsche, Robert and Luetta Brutsche, and Ed Brutsche. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Seville.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home, Rev. Gary Streiff will officiate.

Paul L. Hipp

Norwalk, Ohio - Paul L. Hipp, 81, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening at FTMC surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
He was born in Norwalk on November 21, 1929 to Leander and Bertha (Fries) Hipp.
He was a 41-year employee of the Maple City Ice Company where he started from the ground up to become President and CEO of the company for many years. He had been district chairman of the National Federation of Independent Business and a member of the National Advisory Council. He had served as a director of the Ohio Wholesale Wine Dealers Association.
He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he had been a 22-year member of the finance council and former member of the liturgy committee. He also served as a lector, commentator, Eucharistic minister and CYO youth basketball coach for several years. He was a member of the church adult choir and funeral choir. He was also a member of the Erie County Senior Citizens Melody Makers singing group.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War in the Transportation Corp.
He was a past member of the Elks Lodge, current lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie 711 and the Knights of Columbus #626, where he was the club treasurer at one time.
He was a longtime American Red Cross volunteer, serving as transportation chairman and on various disaster teams in the Erie and Huron County areas. He was the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth A., eight children: Sharon Mouch (Dan), Debra Winkle (Steve), Paulette Ewell (Jay), Pamela Reichert (Jerry), Carolynn Ciersezwski (Ed), Gregory Hipp (Diane), Thomas Hipp, and Kevin Hipp (April), 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles J. Hipp (Mary Ellen), Gerard C. Hipp (Patricia) and brother-in-law Clarence Beat. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Charles (Ardyth) Franklin and Edward (Maryellen) Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Geraldine Hipp and Marcella Beat, and daughter-in-law Beverly J. Hipp. He was also preceded by his wife’s parents, Thomas and Agnes Franklin and brother-in-law Thomas (Shirley) Franklin, Jr.
Friends may call on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH, 44870 or St. Paul Catholic Church.

David Moore

57. of Norwalk, Ohio, went home to the Lord on August 31, 2012 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo from injuries he sustained in motorcycle accident on August 22, 2012. He was born on February 11, 1955, in Norwalk, Ohio.
David graduated from New London / EHOVE High School in 1973 and grew up in Clarksfield, Ohio. He worked as a Skilled Tradesman, Machine Repair at KBI in Sandusky, Ohio and was a former employee of Van Dresser Corp. of Norwalk, Ohio, and Tenneco of Milan, Ohio. David was an avid motorcycle owner and rider. He was a member and local Chapter Officer of H.O.G. and was the official photographer for Ohio Bike Week, Ridin’ On Magazine and many motorcycle events through out the state of Ohio.
David is survived by his mother, Shirley (Baker) Moore; children, Nathan and his wife Wendy (Wilcox), Amber and her husband Gary Barnthouse, Ryan and his wife Nina (Dillon); grandchildren, Taylor Renee, Braden David and Tessa Lynn; brother John; brother, Mike and his wife Kim (Erlenbach); sister, Nanci and her husband Pat Zehner; nieces Courtney and Megan; great-niece Erin Michelle Wolfe, along with numerous cousins, dear friends and his four legged girlfriend Rio. David was preceded in death by his father, John S. Moore.

Richard R. "Dick" Worcester

Norwalk, Ohio - Richard R. "Dick" Worcester, 76, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born May 21, 1936 in Clarksfield, Ohio to the late Raymond and Lucille (Livermore) Worcester and was a lifelong area resident.
Dick was a 1954 graduate of Norwalk High School and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, Ohio. He was the founder and co-owner of Hy-Tek Truck and Auto Center, Ltd. of Norwalk, Ohio and was a former employee of Midway Inc. of Monroeville, Ohio. Dick was a member of the Noreaster Club, Catawba Island, the Norwalk Elks Club, and the Port Clinton Moose Lodge. He and his wife, Barb, enjoyed boating for over 50 years, and docked their boat at Fox Haven Marina on Catawba Island. In addition to boating, Dick enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara R. (Cook) Worcester of Norwalk, Ohio and by his daughters, Cheryl Rae Nash of Southbury, Connecticut and Deborah Joy Sommer of Charlotte, North Carolina. Dick is also survived by his grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth Sommer, Timothy Richard Nash, Lauren Christine Nash, and Chad Phillip Sommer, by his great grandson, Dillon Lee House, by his sisters, Myrtle Daniel of Tiro, Ohio, Doris (Skip) Howell of Monroeville, Ohio, Patricia Ruggles of New London, Ohio, Peggy (Lawrence) Warziniack of Wyoming, Jean (John) Bernard of Willard, Ohio, and Judy Hedeen of Findlay, Ohio, by his brothers, Ken (Peg) Worcester of Greenwich, Ohio, Bill Worcester of Willard, Ohio, Dale (Liz) Worcester of Monroeville, Ohio and Ron (Andrea) Worcester of Willard, Ohio, and by his brother in law, Chalmer (Gretchen) Cook of Cape Coral, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Russell Worcester in 1996, Marie Fagan in 2004, Betty Winston in 2006 and Gerry Hershiser in 2009.

Mark A. Winkler

Norwalk, Ohio - Mark A. Winkler, 51, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1961 in Norwalk, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident.
Mark was a 1979 graduate of Western Reserve High School and was a member and elder of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church where he was active on the building and grounds committee. He was a former employee of A.A. Winkler Contracting Company and was a former foreman and current superintendent at Lake Erie Construction Company of Norwalk, Ohio where he had been employed for 33 years. Mark was a member of the Norwalk Eagles Club and was instrumental in the development of the Norwalk Merchants Baseball league and the construction of the ball field. He enjoyed fishing, fireworks, was an avid OSU, NASCAR, and Cleveland Browns fan. Mark loved his family and friends, helping coach his boys sports teams, family vacations, helping others, and felt the true meaning of Christmas in his heart and sharing with others that gift. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend.
Mark is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn R. (Garner) Winkler of Norwalk, Ohio, by his sons and daughters in law, Derek M. and Ellen Winkler of Westerville, Ohio and Ryan C. and Vanessa Winkler also of Westerville, by his granddaughter, Cadence Winkler, by his mother, Eleanor Winkler of Collins, Ohio, by his brother and sister in law, Alex and Jeannie Winkler, Jr. of Milan, Ohio, by his sister and brother in law, Ellen M. and Curt Fitch of Collins, Ohio, by his sister in law, Laura Winkler of Norwalk, Ohio, by special cousins, Dave Nofzinger of Dallas Texas, and Donna Dwyer of Ovideo, Florida, numerous aunt, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Winkler Sr. in 2002 and by his brother, William J. Winkler in 1999.
Friends may call on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Melanie Jeanne James

Melanie Jeanne James, 34, of Norwalk, died Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic after a courageous three-week battle with leukemia.She was born April 1, 1978 in Norwalk, the daughter of Harvey and Carrie James. She grew up in the Wakeman area and moved to Norwalk as a teenager.She graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1996 and the EHOVE school of practical nursing in 1999, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).Melanie worked at Fisher-Titus Medical Center for the past 12 years, the last three of which she served in its Wound Healing Institute. Late last year, upon receiving additional education and training, Melanie became certified in wound care -- something she liked, since she enjoyed working with people.She previously was employed by Mercy Hospital in Lorain, the Ohio Turnpike Commission and Drug Mart in Norwalk.Melanie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on May 8, 1993.As an active member of the Norwalk Congregation, Melanie enjoyed attending and participating in meetings twice each week at the Kingdom Hall and sharing her Bible-based faith with others through the door-to-door ministry. She also enjoyed reading the Bible and Bible-based publications and learning about creation. All of that helped her develop a solid relationship with Jehovah God.She also volunteered with a Regional Building Committee of Jehovah's Witnesses, helping construct kingdom halls in Bowling Green and Lima, and an assembly hall in Belleville, Mich.
Known for her quick wit and good sense of humor, Melanie was a joy to be around. She showered her nieces and nephews with attention and gifts. She found creative ways to entertain them, leading to many fond family memories.She also enjoyed traveling and scuba diving. She and her close friends, Cory Williams and Janna Zeemel, visited places such as Bora Bora, Belize, Hawaii, and various European countries, including Amsterdam, England, Greece, Italy and Spain. Perhaps her two favorite trips were to Germany, where she attended an international convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in 2009, and Africa, where she saw paradisaic scenery and impressive wildlife.From her travels, Melanie compiled an impressive collection of mugs.
Her loyalty and faithfulness to her Creator, right down to the end of her life, epitomized the true Christian faith, setting an example worthy of imitation. Melanie will be missed greatly by her family and fellow believers, all of whom eagerly look forward to seeing her again after she is resurrected in Paradise.
In addition to her parents, who reside in Norwalk, Melanie is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Jeremiah and Nadia James of Elyria, Christopher and Aimee Chafins of Maumee, and Paul and Ginger Brown of Little River, S.C.; nephews and nieces, Tatum, Shelby, Campbell, Katherine, Parker and Noah; maternal grandparents, William and Betty Carpenter of Elyria; paternal grandmother, Fern James of Plymouth; and aunts, uncles and cousins.She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Harvey James Sr.A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 37 Cline St., Norwalk, where visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Norwalk Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 37 Cline St., Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

Robert A. Lippert

Norwalk, Ohio - Robert A. Lippert, 76, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born November 11, 1933 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Eldon O. and Rose (Reineck) Lippert and was a lifelong area resident.
Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a 1952 graduate of St. Paul High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired in 1998 after 35 years with Clevite (Tenneco) Inc. of Milan, Ohio. Bob was a Volunteer Fireman for the Norwalk Fire Department for 25 years, had been a sports announcer for W.L.K.R. Radio for many years and was a courier for Kasper Chevrolet of Norwalk, Ohio. He was a selfless supporter of St. Paul Schools where he had been a study hall monitor and scoreboard operator for many years and had coached for over 40 years. Bob was a member of the St. Paul High School Hall of Fame Committee.
Bob was a 57 year member of the Norwalk Eagles Club, was an Associate Member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a former Board Member of the Sycamore View Condominium Association. He was an avid sports fan and was a former little league coach for Lefty Grove Baseball in Norwalk. Bob enjoyed Tuesday night card games at the Eagles club, playing in men's softball leagues, and later umpiring softball league games. Bob enjoyed professional, college and high school sports and especially Cleveland Indians Baseball. He and his wife, Mary enjoyed going to Spring Training while the Tribe was in Arizona and Florida. One of Bob's special joys was attending and supporting his kids and grandkids sporting and school activities and seldom missed an event.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary J. (Timman) Lippert of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son and daughter in law, Robert J. and Jeanne Lippert of Huron, Ohio, and by his daughters, Sharon E. Locke of Norwalk, Ohio and Joan M. McCoy of Milan, Ohio. He was the proud grandfather of Elizabeth Oney, Joshua Meyer, Adam Meyer, Cody and Ty McCoy, Allyson Lippert, Samantha Lippert and Sophia Lippert and great grandfather of Hailee Oney and Brady Singer. He is also survived by his sister in law, Mary Lippert of Mayfield Heights, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene C. and Donald J. Lippert.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio where prayer services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul cemetery with military graveside services being conducted by Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion.

Royal R. Chisholm

North Fairfield, Ohio - Royal R. Chisholm, 58, of North Fairfield, Ohio died Friday, April 23, 2010 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born November 21, 1951 in Willard, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident.
Royal was a member of the Ripley Congregational Church and was a 1971 graduate of South Central High School and E.H.O.V.E. Joint Vocational School. He was a Veteran of Air National Guard, 179th Tactical Air Lift Group, Mansfield, Ohio. Royal was a member of the North Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, F.O.O.L.S. ( Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society), and was also a member of North Fairfield American Legion Post #706.
He was also a former member of the Huron County Fair Board, was a former 4-H Advisor, and member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Royal was employed by the Huron County Building and Grounds Maintenance Department, was a former employee of Ferrell Propane Gas of North Fairfield, and enjoyed doing Air Conditioning and other maintenance work for his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and auctions.
Royal is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathleen S. (Bryan) Chisholm of North Fairfield, Ohio, by his mother, Janice (Miller) Chisholm of Willard, Ohio, by his daughters and sons in law, Heather L. (Chisholm) and Garrett Wright of Sweet Home, Oregon, Jodie M. (Montgomery) Moore of Greenwich, Ohio and Jamie L. Montgomery of Plymouth, Ohio and by his son, Nathan B. and Rebecca Montgomery of Plymouth, Ohio, and nine grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters and brothers in law, Mary Beth and Roger Harmon of Willard, Ohio, Charlee Richtarsic of Willard, Ohio, and Kathie and Roger Williams of Fremont, Ohio, by his sister and brother in law, Barbara and Richard Herrick of Sullivan, Ohio, by his brother and sisters in law, Randy and Kareen Bryan of Nova, Ohio, James and Pam Bryan of Loudonville, Ohio, and by his Aunt, Ruth Miller of Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy R. Chisholm in 1989, by his father, Charles R. Chisholm, by his brother, Thomas E. Jordan in 2010, by his mother and father in law, Virgil and Mabel Bryan, and by two nephews, Christopher Passeno in 2009 and Dave Harman in 2008.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Exhibition Hall at the Huron County Fair Grounds, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. David Cobb of the Ripley Congregational Church will officiate.
