Charles F. Wallick

Charles F. Wallick Sr., 85, of Dover, Ohio died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

He was a longtime employee of Robinson Clay Products where he became a Superintendent in 1957 and continued as Supt. Of the Clow Corporation until his retirement.

Born August 16, 1920 near Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Wellington and Anna Bair Wallick.

He was a wellknown area drummer having played in several bands including the Swiss Hilltoppers. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the Musician's Union. He was also a former member of the Dover Elks Lodge, and school board member of the former Wooster Highway School. He was a 1938 graduate of Dover High School.

Charles is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gardner Wallick with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on December 7; He is also survived by three children, Charles 'Frank' (Martha) Wallick of North Canton, Don R. (Sheryl) Wallick of Strasburg, and Bonnie (Jay) Parrot of Strasburg; six grandchildren Neil (Elaine) Parrot of Strasburg, Sheree (Rick) Niece of Arkansas, Charlie (Deanna) Wallick III of Florida, Adam Wallick and his fiance' Amy of Columbus, Ryan (Anne) Wallick of Dover and Brennan (Brooke) Wallick of Stillwater; four great grandchildren, Lauren Blakney, Bailey Parrot, Teddy Wallick and Elle Wallick; three sisters in law, LucilleWallick, Betty Wallick, and Faye Wallick.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Willard, and Wayne Wallick and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Revs. Steven Court and Howard Fox officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm and at the church Friday from 10-11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Strasburg United Methodist Church, 206 2nd St., N.W. Strasburg, Ohio 44680

William E. Kibrige
Born in Beaver Falls, PA on Jan. 24, 1918

William E. 'Bill' Kibrige, 87, of Strasburg, died Saturday, October 15, 2005. at Massillon Community Hospital.

He was born on January 24, 1918 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Bill was the son of the late William E. Kibrige Sr. and Ezmonda R. Jordan.

Bill managed several movie theaters for the Shea Theatre Corporation. He oversaw the operation of theaters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, & Ohio including the State and Bexley Theatres in Dover. While he was in Pennsylvania, he was in charge of building a theatre in the Pittsburgh Airport. He was also a booking agent for the Marine Corp Band. Bill ran drive-in theatres in Michigan until he retired and several years later moved to Cambridge, Ohio.

Bill served our country in World War II where he was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran. Over the years, he was a member of the Dover American Legion #205, Masonic Lodge # 66 in Cambridge, Ohio, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge.

Survivors include: a son, William Kibrige III of Yucca Valley, California; a Daughter, Monda (Loren) Jacobs of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Colette Couzens, Lori Jacobs, Frank Jacobs; and four great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Clara E. Frank. In addition to his wife and parents, Bill is also preceded in death by his stepbrother, Ed Early and his wife Ruth.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Toland Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A celebration of Bill's life will be held following calling hours at 2:30 p.m.with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. Interment will be at Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

David A. Wittkop
Born in Toledo, Ohio on October 12, 1937

David A. Wittkop, 68, of Dover, died peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning, October 15, 2005.

He was born October 12, 1937 in Toledo, the son of the late Carl and Catherine Gunder Wittkop.

In January of 2004, Dave retired from Smith Dairy.

Dave was an active member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia where he was instrumental in the formation of MIGS (Men In God's Service) and the group's popular monthly fellowship breakfasts. In addition, he was one of the leaders of a Wednesday morning Bible study that became such a tight knit group, it relocated and met in Dave's home when illness kept him from being able to attend at the church.

Over the years, Dave was a fixture in area gymnasiums and on volleyball courts as a player, coach, and official. He was the former head volleyball coach at Strasburg and Dover High Schools and was a longtime member of the Ohio Volleyball Coaches Association. He was an integral part of the coordination of the District 5 All-Star Match, and had been honored for his outstanding play in college by induction into the Aurora (IL) University Athletic Hall of Fame, having played on the school's 1960 National Championship team.

He loved reading and also had a keen interest in family genealogy and local history.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Vickie O'Hail Wittkop.

Also surviving are: two children whom he loved dearly, Chris (Debbie) Wittkop of Columbus, and Bethany (Allen) Olmstead of Pittsboro, North Carolina; two precious grandchildren, Olivia Grace Wittkop and Eleanor Ruth 'Elsie' Olmstead; 'mom', his beloved mother-in-law, Ruth O'Hail of Smithville; half brother, Gerald (Helen) Wittkop of Monroe, Michigan; and a half-sister Connie O'Connell of Newburyport, MA; a sister-in-law, Pat (Tom) Henshaw of Smithville and several nieces and nephews.

Jim Borton will officiate a ceremony that celebrates Dave's life on Wednesday, October 19, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church, New Philadelphia. Entombment will be in the Dover Burial Park's Garden of Peace Mausoleum. Fittingly, following services at the cemetery, a fellowship meal will be held in the church's social hall.

Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts in Dave's memory be given to either: the Building for Life fund, First Christian Church, 104 3rd St. NW, New Philadelphia 44663, or to the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover 44622.

Nema V. Keener
Born in Clinton, IN on June 1, 1908

Nema V. Keener, 97, a long-time resident of E. Seventeenth St., Dover, died Thursday, October 13, 2005, in the New Dawn Retirement Community, where she had resided the past five years.

Born June 1, 1908, in Clinton, Indiana, Nema was a daughter of the late William and Anna Laura Bidycofer Felgenhauer. She attended school in Somerdale, and, on June 1, 1929, was wed toReuben C. Keener. Nema was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dover, and was a life member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens. In addition to caring for her family, Nema enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers. She also also liked to crochet and try her hand at various crafts.

Survivors include two sons, Carson D. (Sue) Keener, and Carroll Z. (Linda) Keener, both of New Philadelphia; a grandson, Michael (Maria Rolli) Keener of New Philadelphia; a great-granddaughter, Natasha Ann Keener; three sisters, Rhoda Mae Seifer of Canton, Gloria Lee (William) Leeper of Leesville, Connie (Gene) Angus of New Philadelphia; a brother, David (Mildred) Felgenhauer of Sherrodsville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, on April 9, 1967; and by four brothers, Thomas, Dennis, Ferris and Virgil Felgenhauer.

Nema's life will be celebrated in a service Monday, October 17, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, 3 - 5 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

W. Harold Snyder
Born in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 13, 1926

W. Harold Snyder, 79, of Dover, Ohio and a former Akron and Massillon resident died Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Hennis Care Centre following an extended illness.

He retired in 1987, as Vice President of Commercial lines for the Ostrov Insurance Agency in Akron where he worked for 27 years.

Born January 13, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late William and Nellie Guilliams Snyder.

Harold was a member of the Bailey Rd. Christian Church in Cuyahoga Falls and was formerly a Mason affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Coshocton. He was a graduate of West Lafayette High School. His interests included golfing, bowling, woodworking and gardening and loved dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Sandy Snyder with whom he celebrated 25 years of marriage on June 25; He is also survived by three sons, Gregory (Marilyn) Snyder of Dover, Bruce (Amanda) Snyder and Christopher (Marjorie) Snyder all of Akron; stepchildren, Audrey Hafner of Minerva, Sharon Hall of Coshocton, and Patty Mathews of Easton, Pa. three grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Snyder, Madeleine Marie Snyder, and Annika Marie Snyder; a half sister, Annis 'Jeanne' Osbun of Hanoverton, Ohio and a half brother, Junior Loos of West Lafayette.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Dean Anderson and a sister, Inez.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6-8 p.m.

Paul K. Miller
Born in New Philadelphia, OH on April 30, 1926

Paul K. Miller, 79, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005, in New Dawn Health Care Center, Dover, following a long illness.

Born April 30, 1926, in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Carl and Edith Schlafly Miller. Paul graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1944, and served in the U.S. Mrechant Marines on hospital ships, most notably, the Charles Stafford. Following his time with the Merchant Marines, he was employed for thirty years by the Reeves Steel Co. of Dover as a boiler fireman.

Paul was a hardworking family man. He enjoyed woodworking, and fishing on Lake Erie during summers spent at the family's cottage at Lakeside.

Survivors include his loving wife Betty O. Dudley Miller, whom he married on November 1, 1947; three sons, Dan Miller of New Philadelphia, David (Lori) Miller of Stone Creek, and Jon Miller of Summerville, SC; three grandsons, Jeff, Blake and Ben Miller, all of Stone Creek; a brother, Delbert (Delores) Miller of New Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Jean (Burton) Beaber of New Philadelphia; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Joyce) Dudley of New Philadelphia, and Lynn (Sheila) Dudley of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael S. Miller, in 1962; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Mary Dudley; and by a brother-in-law, Jack Dudley, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Friday, October 14, 6-8 p.m. Pastor Joe Schulz of the First Baptist Church, New Philadelphia, will officiate at a private service for Paul on Saturday. Burial will be in Jerusalem Church cemetery, New Philadelphia.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas Co., 201 W. Third St., Dover.

June E. Denning
Born in New Philadelphia, OH on February 27, 1920

June E. Denning, 85, of Dover died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Schoenbrunn Health Care Center in New Philadelphia following an extended illness.

She retired from Alsco in Gnadenhutten after 20 years of service.

Born February 27, 1920 in New Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late Albert and Bessie Winger Swihart.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Women's Benefit Association, Senior Citizens and she enjoyed sewing and crafts.

June was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Denning, and is survived by two daughters, Patricia Rothacher of New Philadelphia and Linda Reynolds of New Philadelphia; son, Michael (Shirley) Denning of Farmersville, Ohio; brother, Jack (Cindy) Swihart of Michigan; sister, Margaret 'Nug' Sindlinger of Dover; brother and sister in law, Robert (Dorothy) Denning of New Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Curt Swihart.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at New Philadelphia with John Center officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends can call at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Doris M. Gantley

Doris M. Renner Gantley, 74, of New Philadelphia died Friday, October 7, 2005 at Hennis Care Cenre in Dover.

She was born on August 11, 1931 in New Philadelphia.

She was a member of Fry's Valley Moravian Church.

Doris is survived by her mother, Martha Kinsey of Dover; three daughters, Joyce Ann Snyder of Massillon, Shelly (Bret) Baker of Canton and Kimberly Sue (Ron) Cronebaugh of Beach City; grandson, Archie Snyder and great granddaughter, Lindsey Snyder; sister, Elizabeth Salmon of North Canton; brother, Allen G. Kinsey of New Philadelphia.

Cremation has taken place through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 11:00 am at the Holmes Church cemetery with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.

Frederick Capozella

Frederick 'Terry' Capozella, 70, of Dover died Friday, October 7, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.

He retired in 1992 from Greer Steel after 28 years of service.

Born May 25, 1935 in Dover he was a son of the late John and Loretta Murphy Capozella.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Terry was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Through the years he coached Jr. high football at St. Joseph School and was a strong supporter of Catholic education. An avid golfer and sports fan, he loved to watch football, especially Notre Dame and Mt. Union.

Terry will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Rachel Ickes Capozella whom he married on June 17, 1961; his five sons, Colin Capozella of Columbus, David (Barbara) Capozella of Dayton, Daniel (Jill) Capozella of Dover, Joseph (Julie) Capozella of Palmyra, Virginia and Stephen (Amy) Capozella of Powell; two daughters, Maureen (Mike) Perkowski of Dover and Carolyn (John) Dysart of Alexandria, Virginia; three brothers, John (Sue) Capozella of New Philadelphia, Tom (Kate) Capozella of Dover and Dennis (Shawna) Capozella of Bradenton, Florida; four sisters, Kathy (Bill) Thomas of Dover, Felicia Floyd of New Philadelphia, Joanne (Milton) Hamilton of Hollister, California and Angela (Steve) Rampy of Lubbock, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Mikey and Dean Perkowski, Caleb, Joshua, Aaron, Noah, Viviana 'Queen', Carlo, Gabrielle and Jacob Capozella, Robert and Baby Boy Dysart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Capozella.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Following the mass, the body will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Christian Wake services will start at 7:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Family Life Center.
