Emmett Jean Glazer
Born in Port Washington, OH on March 14, 1917

Emmett Jean Glazer, 88, who resided in both Ohio and Florida, died Saturday, October 8, 2005, in Fairfield, Ohio.

Born March 14, 1917, in Port Washington, he was a son of the late Henry and Rosa Dichler Glazer. Emmett earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Ohio University, and went on to attain his Master's Degree, also in Chemistry, from the University of Akron. He was a chemist for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for some thirty-eight years, before retiring in 1977.

Emmett was a member of Star Lodge No. 187 F. & A.M. of Cuyahoga Falls, the Lighter Than Air Society and the Power Squadron, both of Akron.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley, Jean and Evelyn; three sons, James, Charles and Phillip; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his first wife, and the mother of his children, Virginia May Miller Glazer, in 1978; his second wife, Mary Louise Conquest Glazer; and by a brother, Andy Glazer.

Emmett's life will be celebrated in a service Tuesday, October 11, at 12 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia.

Burial will be in Union cemetery, Port Washington. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Emmett's memory be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 182039, Dept. O13, Columbus, OH 43218, or, to the American Cancer Society, 201-A W. Ohio Ave., Dover, OH 44622.

Frances Mary Ann Steffe
Born in Bolivar, OH on November 18, 1913
Departed on October 7, 2005 and resided in Strasburg, OH.

Frances Mary Ann Steffe, 92, of Strasburg, died Friday, October 7, 2005, in her home.

Born November 18, 1913, in Bolivar, she was a daughter of the late George and Louisa Franz Margo. She was a loving wife and mother, and member of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Zoar. Frances was both a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H advisor for many years. Some of her hobbies included knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include a son, Norman R. (Dana) Steffe of Strasburg; grandchildren, Courtney Shanower and Daniel Yoder; and a brother, Albert Margo of Dover. Frances is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-four years, Robert E. Steffe in 2000; five sisters, Amelia Weaver, Bertha Calendine, Ruth and Catherine Margo, and Clara Hitchcock; four brothers, Lewis, Henry, Raymond and Paul Margo.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 2 p.m., in the Church of the Holy Trinity, 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd. N.E., Bolivar, with Fr. Ed Keck officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 232 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg, on Monday, October 10, 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. There will be a Christian wake service Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family suggests that those who desire make contributions to their own favorite charity in memory of Frances.

Alice M. Gray
Born in Franklin Twp., Tuscarawas County, Ohio on April 7, 1913
Departed on October 3, 2005 and resided in New Philadelphia, OH.

Alice M. Gray, 92, of New Philadelphia died Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Park Village Health Care Center.

Born April 7, 1913 in Franklin Twp., Tuscarawas County, she was a daughter of the late George and Sarah Bair Yackey.

She was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover where she was a Sunday school teacher and was very active in the Women's Fellowship. Alice was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a 1931 graduate of Strasburg High School.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Lyle V. Gray who died on March 21, 2003.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Jean (Walter) Gursky of Brighton, Michigan; two sons, Larry (Lynne) Gray of Newnan, Georgia and John (Linda) Gray of Tellico Village, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11:00 am in the First Moravian Church at Dover with Pastor Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Burial Park. Following the burial a reception will be held in the church social hall. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Moravian Church.

M. Eileen Aeling
Born in Strasburg, OH on December 18, 1924

M. Eileen Aeling, 80, of Dover, died Saturday, October 1, 2005, following a long illness.

Born December 18, 1924, in Strasburg, Eileen was a daughter of the late Otto Baker and Myrtle Boyd Baker Lawrence. She graduated from Strasburg High School, and married Howard K. Aeling on April 29, 1950 in St. Aloysius Church. Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover. She enjoyed playing cards and her card club.

Survivors include a daughter and son, Cheryl Aeling Hammond and Mark Aeling, both of Dover; five grandchildren, Cassandra and Adam Bucher of Illinois, and Tory, Lianna and Mitchell Aeling of Dover; a great-grandson, Cody Bucher; sisters-in-law, Charlene (James) Herzig of Dover, and Kitty Aeling of California; brothers-in-law, David (Connie) Aeling of Columbus, Thomas (Joan) Aeling of California, and Richard (Treva) Aeling of Canton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eilen was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on Sept. 4, 1996; and by a sister, Margaret Burnhouse.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 3, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, 613 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover, with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call Sunday (today), October 2, 5 - 8 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A Christian wake service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 4815 Munson St. N.W., Canton, OH 44718.

Charles W. Sparks
Born in Lancaster, KY on Jul. 12, 1939
Departed on September 27, 2005 and resided in Brewster, OH.

Charles W. 'Chuck' Sparks, 66, a 45-year resident of Brewster, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005 in Massillon Community Hospital.

Born July 12, 1939 in Lancaster, KY, Chuck was the son of the late John E. and Stella Barger Sparks.

Chuck was a hard worker. As was a member of the Canton Local Union for construction workers and over the years worked on a variety of projects throughout Stark & Tuscarawas counties.

He was also a man that loved the outdoors. Chuck spent his leisure time creating memories with his three sons while fishing on Lake Erie and camping. He was also a 'gear head' and NASCAR enthusiast, who, until recently, had enjoyed working on his own cars as well.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Alice F. Grove Sparks. The two looked forward to their upcoming wedding anniversary on December 14, which would have marked their 43rd year of marriage.

Other survivors include: his aforementioned three sons whom he loved dearly, Michael and Pam of Dover, Douglas and Lorie of Sherrodsville, and Eric and Kelly of Brewster; 3 step-grandchildren, Sam, Chuck and Todd; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Amanda, Krystle, Nicholas, Tonya, Tyler and Amber; 3 great grandchildren; three brothers, James, Curtis and Marvin; and two sisters, Sheila and Yvonna.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

A Ceremony celebrating Chuck's life will be held Friday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover with Pastor Jody Grove officiating. Interment will be in Strasburg's Grandview Union cemetery. Following the burial, family and friends will be received at a luncheon held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard.

Friends may call in the funeral home in Dover on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.

H. Frances Lukens
Born in OH on October 20, 1920
Departed on September 24, 2005 and resided in Dover, OH.

H. Frances Lukens, 84, of Dover died Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

She retired from M& M Market in 2000 with over 20 years of service.

Born October 20, 1920 in Dundee she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Flossie Medam Burrell.

Frances was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover, past Worthy Matron of the Tuscarawas Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a 1938 graduate of Dover High School. In her spare time she enjoyed reading.

Frances is survived by three daughters, Karen (Louis) Monticelli of Dover, Rebecca (Jerry) Surbey of Virginia and Sandra (Paul) Linton of Connecticut; two sisters, Jane Kaltenbaugh of Strasburg and Doris Cooley of Dover; brother, Max (Jean) Burrell of Dover; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 3:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover. Friends can call at the funeral home on Tuesday one-hour prior to the service. Eastern Star services will start at 1:45 p.m

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County or to the Dover Library.

Albert F. Recchiuti
Born in Dennison, OH on December 18, 1921

Albert F. Recchiuti, 83, of Dover died Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at Union Hospital following an extended illness.

He retired as Vice President of Sales from Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. in New Philadelphia after 30 years of service.

Born December 18, 1921 in Dennison he was a son of the late Domenico and Mary DeMattis Recchiuti.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover VFW and was an Air Force Veteran of WW II and the Korean War. Albert was a very caring man, who dearly loved his family, especially his two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Jane Harder Recchiuti with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on June 19, 2005.

Albert is also survived by two sons, Jeff (Toni) Recchiuti of Dublin and Greg Recchiuti of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother, William (Delores) Recchiuti of California; two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Recchiuti.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Recchiuti.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Wednesday (today) from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Christian Wake services will begin at 8:45 p.m

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd St., Suite 1100, New York, New York 10016.

Mabel V. Ritchey
Born in Sugarcreek on March 1, 1907
Departed on September 18, 2005 and resided in Walnut Creek, OH.

Mabel V. Ritchey, 98, a 12-year resident of the Walnut Hills Retirement Community, died Sunday, September 18, 2005.

She was a homemaker and had always been active in the operation of her family's farm.

Born March 1, 1907 at Sugarcreek, she was the daughter of the late Charley & Lida Kutscher Swihart.

Mabel was a longtime member of the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg. She was also a member of the Winfield Grange and farm Bureau.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur C. Specht, who died in 1956. He second husband, Joseph Ritchey, passed away in 1989.

Survivors include: three children, Grace Bochsler of Dover, Wayne (Janet) Specht of Dover and Glenn (Peggy) Specht of Massillon; a step-son, Robert (Jill) Ritchey of Canal Fulton; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mabel was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Kenneth & Orin. Swihart.

A ceremony celebrating Mabel's life will be conducted Wednesday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover with Rev. Dan Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John United Church of Christ, 516 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg or St. Johns United Church of Christ 409 N. Wooster Ave., Dover.
