Veda V. Dawson
(1908 - 2005)

Veda Velma Dawson, 96, of Bryan, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Hillside Country Living, where she had been a resident.
Born Sept. 25, 1908, in Bryan to Rosa (Himes) and Leonard Davis, she married William Dawson in Akron, and he preceded her in death in January 1969.
A foster parent for over 37 years, having cared for over 100 children, she worked at the Cameron Hospital, Bryan, as a nurse for 20 years.
She was a member of the Union Chapel Church of God, Bryan, Elm Grove Grange, the Williams County Farm Bureau and was a 4-H leader for 15 years.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Dawson of Defiance and John Dawson of Mt. Vernon; a foster daughter, Michelle Bible of Montpelier; a stepdaughter, Bonnie White of Greely, Colo.; a sister, Thelma Kiplinger of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great -grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, was a daughter, Mary Lou Dawson P.H.D. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3 and 7-8 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan.
Services will be Saturday a
t 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with The Reverend Dennis  Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be given to the Union Chapel Church of God or the Williams County Kidney Foundation.

Ella Stoll
(1924 - 2005)

EDGERTON - Ella Mae Stoll, 80, of rural Edgerton, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in her residence, after a short illness.
She was born on July 29, 1924, in Greenback, Tenn., the daughter of William B. and Carrie (Vaden) Irwin. She married Marvin R. Stoll on Jan. 1, 1955, in Maryville, Tenn., and he survives.
She began her working career as an assembler for Holibard Company, and then worked as a presser at K & R Cleaners. She ended her career was an inspector for the ARO Corporation for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. She also was a cake decorator for several years.
A member of Bryan Alliance Church, she attended Wesley United Methodist Church and New Hope Community Church, both in Bryan. She was a member of New Hope Seniors Group 'Primetime' and the ARO 25 years retirees club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Rita (James) Powers of Edon; granddaughter, Mrs. Brad (Crystal) Miller of Edon; and grandson, Josh Powers of Edon; two brothers, William Ray (and wife, Vivian) Irwin of Walland, Tenn. and William Lewis Irwin of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Irene Davis of Maryville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, J.B. Irwin; and one sister, Laura Ruth Stemen. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. in Krill Funeral Home in Bryan, with additional visitation one hour prior to services Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wesley United Methodist Church, 903 Center St., Bryan, with Pastor Doug Schrock, officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton.
Memorials may be given to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Hospice Care.

Marshall R. Killian
(1914 - 2005)

Marshall R. Killian, 90, of Bryan, died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at his residence.
Born on Nov. 19, 1914, in Brighton, Ind., to Ruby A. (Rowe) and Edward J. Killian, he married Arvada Ruff on Sept. 22, 1934, and she survives.
A veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, he was retired from the Aro Corporation where he had worked as a machinist from 1935 to 1978. He was a member of the Lick Creek Church of the Brethren and the American Legion of Bryan.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, James M. (and wife, Deb) Killian of Bryan and Roger A. (MaryAnn) Killian of Elizabethtown, Pa.; a daughter, Beverly Keck of Bryan; a sister, Hazel Robinson; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home and Crematory, Bryan.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lick Creek Church of Brethren, Bryan, with the Rev. David Miller and the Rev. Dorothy Ritchey-Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be given to an organization of the donor's choice.

Virgel Chrisman

A memorial service for longtime Bryan resident Virgel Chrisman, will be held Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. in the Faith United Methodist Church, 225 E. Butler St., Bryan. A family graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at Shiffler Cemetery.
A resident of Leesburg, Fla. since 1996, he died Monday, May 23, 2005, following a brief illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lake & Sumter, 12300 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778-9660, the American Cancer Society or Faith United Methodist Church.

Richard D. "Jake" Jacobs
(1940 - 2005)

Richard D. "Jake" Jacobs, 65, of Bryan, died suddenly late Saturday evening, July 9, 2005, at his residence.
Born April 17, 1940, at York Center in Union County, to Henrietta (Hedges) and Carl L. Jacobs, he married Deanna (Psurney) Meyer on Nov. 2, 1973, and she preceded him in death in 1994. He then married Lynne Springeron on June 29, 2002, and she survives.
He graduated from Byhalia-York High School in 1958 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1959. He served aboard the U.S.S. Northampton CC1 as an Interior Communications Petty Officer Second Class, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. He worked for the United Telephone Company in Marysville, then at Telephone Services of Ohio in Lima and retired from General Telephone Company of Bryan in December 1994.
Active in the C.W.A. Union, he had been treasurer of the Williams County Labor Council and served eight years as a board member and one year as president of the Central Local School Board, director of Gen Tel West Division Credit Union, serving two years as president. He was on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan and First Lutheran Church in Stryker, having served as council president this past year in Stryker. He also taught Lutheran catechism and Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran and St. John Lutheran Church in Sherwood.
A life member of the Farmer American Legion Post No. 137 and the Fairview Athletic Boosters, he had also served on the Williams County Democratic Committee and was a retired member of the Communications Workers of America Local 4378.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael (and wife, Theresa) Jacobs of Bryan; stepdaughters, Mrs. Eric (Gina) Roberts of Maumee and Mrs. Adam (Pam) Gubernath of Napoleon; a granddaughter, Breanna Jacobs of Bryan; stepgrandchildren, Christopher Hinkle of Pittsburgh, Pa., John Durbin of San Diego, Calif. and Jill Durbin of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Mrs. Larry (Janet) Dunn of Marysville, Mrs. Gene (Joanne) Tevis and Jean Plotner, both of Marion, and Rebecca Rynders of Abilene, Texas ; and brothers, Charles (Lucille) Jacobs of Prospect, James (Donna) Jacobs of Little Hocking and Jerry (Linda) Jacobs of Garrettsville.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, David on Aug. 22, 1978; and brothers, Robert and William Jacobs.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church of Stryker with the Rev. Dane Muenschke to officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Ney.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Stryker or St. John Lutheran Church-Scholarship Fund-Sherwood.

Julie Christina Richmond
(1979 - 2005)

NAPOLEON - Julie Christina Richmond, 25, died Friday, July 8, 2005, as the result of an automobile accident at the intersection of U.S. 24 and Henry County Road 17-D. Born Nov. 25, 1979, at Decatur, Ind., she was the daughter of Patricia I. (Boroff) and Floyd L. Richmond.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her father, Floyd L. (and wife, Mary) Richmond of Holgate; two sisters, Melissa Floyd of Napoleon and Mrs. Shane (Donna) Pierce of Van Wert; two brothers, Tom Richmond of Tahlequah, Okla. and David (Pam) Richmond of Edgerton; a stepbrother, Joseph Steel of Fort Sill, Okla.; and a stepsister, Rachel Steel of Elkhart, Ind.
Preceding her in death were her mother; her son, Ethan Marr; and her grandparents.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. in the DenHerder Funeral Home, Paulding.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with additional visitation to be held one hour prior to services, in the First Christian Church, Paulding. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery,  Jackson Township, Paulding County.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society - Ovarian Research, National Cystic Fibrosis Society or the Napoleon West Elementary School Library Fund.
