James W. Reinhart
(1920 - 2005)

HICKSVILLE - James W. Reinhart, 84, of Hicksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005. He was a resident at Hickory Creek of Hicksville.
Born Sept. 16, 1920, in Auburn, Ind., to Beulah (Headley) and Arkie Reinhart, he married Rosa M. Bell on April 12, 1941, in Defiance, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Retired from Spangler Candy Company in Bryan, he had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of the Logan EUB Church, rural Hicksville.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Doris) Peak of Bryan and Janice Reinhart of Butler, Ind.; two sons, Kenneth (and wife, Pam) of Sherwood and Ronald (Brenda) of Defiance; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Riggs of Butler, Ind.; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Reinhart of Coeburn, Va.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Willis Arkie Reinhart; and a sister, Inez LaRue Rickard.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday at Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, with Pastor Don Foust to officiate. There is no public visitation.
Smith & Brown Funeral Home is serving the family.

Dorothy I. (Thode) Hurey

Dorothy I. (Thode) Hurey, 92, of Bryan and formerly of Gary, Ind., died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at her daughter's home in Montpelier.
She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glen Park and the Faith's Circle of Grace Methodist.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Gayle) Mihalik of Dearborn, Mich. and Mrs. Jerry (Pam) Van Sickle of Montpelier; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael in 1963; an infant daughter, Karen; and two sisters and two brothers.
Visitation and funeral services were held Friday in the Geisen Funeral Home, Merrillville. Burial was in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.

Simon "Si" Seiler Jr.
(1926 - 2005)

MONTPELIER - Simon "Si" Seiler Jr., 79, of Montpelier, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Montpelier.
Born Jan. 31, 1926, at Archbold, to Sarah (Stamm) and Simon P. Seiler, he married Mary A. Fleming on Dec. 17, 1946, and she preceded him in death in April 1998.
Retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a maintenance way supervisor, he and his wife had owned and operated Si & Mary's Truck Stop at the Ace Corners from 1958-1963.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Bryan Moose.
Surviving are two sons, E. Dean (and wife, Helen) Seiler Sr. of Bryan and Michael L. Seiler of Boyne City, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Carol) Sharp of Bryan and Tamela K. Bishop (and Allen Foute) of Sherwood; 10 grandchildren, Earl Seiler Jr., Kristina Seiler, Steve Seiler, Scott Seiler, Chrystal Raub, Colleen Kafai, Collin Bishop, Sarah Bishop, Jeremiah Davis and Matthew Davis; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmerson and Ralph Seiler; and two sisters, Ruth Tanner and Grace Waldeck.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Montpelier, with Pastor John H. Crilley to officiate. Interment will be in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Hospice.

Lucille L. West

MONTPELIER - Lucille L. West, 90, of Montpelier, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2005, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, where she was recuperating following a fall.
Service arrangements are pending at Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.

Kathryn Raymond Houghton
(1927 - 2005)

ADRIAN, Mich. - Kathryn "Kay" Houghton of Adrian, Mich. and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005.
Born May 19, 1927, to Marie and Russell Raymond, she married Paul Houghton in August 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2002.
A 1945 graduate of Bryan High School, she had attended Ohio State University.
Surviving is a son, Jeffrey (and wife, Becky) of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two brothers, William and Russell; grandsons, Scott and Chad Houghton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Aug. 25 in Adrian with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian.

Phyllis M. "Susie" Gambler
(1935 - 2005)

DEFIANCE - Phyllis M. "Susie" Gambler, 70, of Defiance, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at her residence.
Born June 6, 1935, at Albion, Ind., to Josephine (Yazell) and John L. Shaw, she married Herb W. Gambler in 1956 and he survives.
She was employed in the housekeeping department of Parkview Hospital.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepson, Sam Gambler of Pioneer; three stepdaughters, Rita Gambler of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Mrs. Robert (Ina Kay) Schafer of Bryan and Patty Laney of Edgerton; 10 stepgrandchildren and 30 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Herbert S. Gambler; and two stepgrandchildren.
There will be no services. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry E. Teats Sr.
(1940 - 2005)

MONTPELIER - Jerry E. Teats Sr., 65, of Montpelier, died Monday morning, Aug. 29, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 16, 1940, at Montpelier, to Norma Vivian (Bartley) and William Oral Teats, he married Martha E. Fikel on Sept. 2, 1961, and she survives.
A lifelong Montpelier resident, he was a machinist at New Era Corporation (formerly ARO Corporation), Bryan, where he had been employed for 28 years. He had served with the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1963.
Active in the affairs of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, he was a member of Local No. 1349, I.A.M., and currently was serving as president of District No. 57 of the I.A.M. He was also serving as vice president of the Ohio State Council of Machinists, was a member of the I.A.M. State Legislative Committee and a member of both the Elective and Organizing Committees of I.A.M. He was also a member of the Montpelier Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 312 and Montpelier Eagles Aerie No. 2246.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gary (and wife, Scooter) Teats of Montpelier, Jerry (and friend, Suzanne Cordray) Teats Jr. of Montpelier, and Lonnie (Loretta) Teats of Camden, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Lynne) Hill of Montpelier; nine grandchildren, Hallie and Billy Hill, Amanda and Kendal LaVigne, J.J. Teats, Erica and Stephanie Sito and Allie and Sidney Teats; two great-grandchildren, Trinity and Devon; three brothers, Larry (Irene) Teats of Montpelier, John (Debbie) Teats of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jack (Barb) Teats of Montpelier; and special friends, Donna Teats and David Schooley.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Loretta Penrod.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, with the Rev. David Tilly to officiate. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Montpelier Veteran Organizations. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Home Health Care of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers of Williams County or Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
Arrangements are by Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
