Edla M. Thompson
MONTPELIER - Edla M. Thompson, 91, of Montpelier, died early Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan.
She was the wife of Eugene B. Thompson who survives.
Service arrangements are pending at the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.
Rodney "Hot Rod" Warner Clark
(1946 - 2005)
STRYKER - Rodney "Hot Rod" Warner Clark, 59, of Stryker, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2005, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford.
Born Aug. 26, 1946, at Bryan, he was the son of Blanche (Doudt) and Kenneth W. Clark.
A retired production supervisor, he had worked at Handy & Harman in Kendallville, Ind. and Strydel in Stryker.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2233 in Bryan, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Montpelier and Amvets Post 54 in Bryan and he rode with the Eagle Riders and several other motorcycle clubs. He participated in many charity runs and was active with fundraisers for the Ronald McDonald House.
Surviving are two sons, Justyn W. Clark and Mike Dolson, both of Bryan; two daughters, Marissa (and Jeremiah Quimby) Clark and Mrs. Bruce (Jackie) Roehrs, both of Bryan; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his ex wife and best friend, Dawn Allayne Clark of Bryan; his father, Kenneth Clark of Columbus; and a brother, Newlin (and wife, Linda) Clark of Bryan.
Preceding him in death were his mother, a baby brother and a grandchild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Shirrel Petzoldt to officiate. Burial will follow at Evansport Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
It is requested that all motorcycle riders bring their bikes to the funeral.
Betty Jane Wineland
(1924 - 2005)
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Betty Jane Wineland, 81, of Chambersburg, Pa. and formerly of Bryan, Ohio, died in her home in Chambersburg, Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005.
Born June 9, 1924, at Portage, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lillian (Stilwell) and James Mears. Employed at Rossford Ordnance before moving to Chambersburg in 1963, she was then employed at Litterkenney Army Ordnance as an offset press operator.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Rhonda Chambers; a grandson, Ralph Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Chambers and Michael Schroeder; stepson, Harlan Wineland Jr.; a brother, Virgil (and wife, Ruth) Mears; sisters-in-law, Mary Mears and Gene Trout; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Schroeder; her second husband, Harlan Wineland; a son, Richard; and two brothers, James Mears Jr. and J.D. Mears. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home-Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Sam Shultz to officiate. Burial will follow in Shiffler Cemetery.
A memorial service was also held Sunday in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Calvin Gipple
(1944 - 2005)
HICKSVILLE - Calvin E. Gipple, 61, of Hicksville, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at his residence.
Born March 23, 1944, at Butler, Ind., he was the son of Thelma (Weldy) and Ora J. Gipple. He was employed by Dura Automotive in Butler, Ind., in the plating department for seven years and was a a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Loretta) Hart of Spencerville, Ind. and Mrs. Gilberto (Pearl) Ramirez of Butler, Ind.; three sons, Jeremy (and wife, Holly) Coleman and Kenny Coleman, both of Avilla, Ind. and Larry (Melissa) Lee of Spencerville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; seven sisters, Vesta Bowen of Edgerton, Shirley Gipple, Mrs. LaVern (Veronica) Yoder, Patsy Gipple, Mrs. Jim (Donna) Wasson, Mrs. Rich (Mary) Waters and Mrs. Michael (Linda) Johnson, all of Hicksville; four brothers, Ed (Sue) Gipple of Montpelier, Don (Becky) Gipple of Toledo, Ron (Loretta) Gipple and Dennis (Carolyn) Gipple, of Hicksville.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Dora Jo Lawson; and a brother, Ora Gipple Jr.
Visitation will be held today from 3-7 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Herb Strickland to officiate.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, The Caring Way, of Defiance County or the Hicksville Senior Center.
Venessa R. Kemarly
(1991 - 2005)
LIBERTY, Ky. - Venessa R. Kemarly, 14, formerly of Edon, Ohio, and recently of Liberty, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Ky., from injuries sustained in a car-bicycle accident on Saturday near her home.
Born Jan. 25, 1991, at Bryan, Ohio, she was the daughter of Holli R. (Rettig) and Damon B. Kemarly who survive in Liberty.
An eighth grade student at Casey County Middle School, she had completed grades K-7 in the Edon schools. She was a member of the Columbia Church of Christ, Columbia, Ohio.
An avid horse enthusiast, she was active in speed show competitions and had been a member of the Northwest Apaches 4-H club in Williams County.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Kamon and Kaden Kemarly, both at home; paternal grandparents, Alice and Deloyd Kemarly of Montpelier, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Rachael Eustace of San Benito, Texas ; maternal grandfather, Gene (and wife, Sue) Rettig of Stryker; maternal great-grandmother, Irma Wonders of Allen, Mich.; maternal great-grandfather, Howard Rettig of Holgate, Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jim Eustace; paternal great-grandparents, Bernell and Idella Kemarly; maternal great-grandmother, Marvel Rettig; and maternal great-grandfather, Cecil Wonders.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Columbia Church of Christ with Pastor Cliff Graves to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Venessa R. Kemarly Trust.
William J. Kunsman
EDON - William J. Kunsman, 88, of Edon, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan.
Service arrangements are pending with Krill Funeral Service, Edon.
Ira R. Hutchison
WEST UNITY -Ina R. Hutchison, 86, of West Unity, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 14, 2005, at her home.
Among her survivors are her son, Jan Hutchison of West Unity, and her daughter, Judy Rand of Archbold.
Arrangements are pending with the Hollingshead-Beck Funeral Home, West Unity.
Dennis L. Minick
(1953 - 2005)
HICKSVILLE - Dennis L. Minick, 51, of Hicksville, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2005, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville.
Born Oct. 1, 1953, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Marcella (Braun) and Donald Minick, he married Suzanne Meyer on July 7, 1978 and she survives.
A 1971 graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, he was a 1974 graduate of Indiana University, Fort Wayne, and a 1976 graduate of ITT Fort Wayne.
A field service engineer at GE Healthcare, Fort Wayne, he was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Hicksville and the Knights of Columbus and was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents; two sons, Adam (and fiancee, Gina Grisola) of Stow and Greg of Columbus; a daughter, Kate at the University of Evansville; and two sisters, Dianne Meadows and Mrs. Steve (Donna) Rondot, both of Fort Wayne.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. in the Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. There will be a Service of Remembrance at 8 p.m. during visitation.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hicksville, with Father Thomas Oedy to officiate. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
Memorials may be made to the Defiance County Humane Society or the Hicksville School.
