Roy Delbert Kunkel
(1919 - 2005)

DADE CITY, Fla. - Roy Delbert Kunkel, 86, of Dade City, Fla. died Nov. 10, 2005, at Dade City.
Born March 12, 1919, at Mandan, N.D., he was the son of Elsie (Hogue) and James Kunkel. Moving to Dade City one year ago from Wauchula, Fla., he was a World War II veteran and retired from Occidental Petroleum and General Motors.
He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the First Christian Church in Wauchula. Surviving are his wife, Wavellene J. Kunkel; a daughter, Kaye Payne; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Richard Miller and Theodore Miller; three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rodger Kunkel; four brothers, Bill, Elgie, Lester and John Kunkel; and a sister, Betty Thompson.
Interment will take place in Williams Center, Ohio.
Hodges Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dottie S. Boesel
(1918-2005)

MONTPELIER - Dottie S. Boesel, 87, of Montpelier and formerly of New Bremen, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Anna's House at Hillside Country Living, Bryan.
Born Jan. 14, 1918, at New Bremen, to Helen H. (Dettman) and Leonard H. Schmidt, she married Jacob W. Boesel and he preceded her in death in December of 1988.
She graduated from New Bremen High School in 1935 and then received her B.S. in Education from Ohio State. She later received a Masters in Home Economics.
A high school teacher, having taught home economics, government, history and sociology, she retired after 35 years at New Bremen and Minster.
She attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Connie A. Frericks of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Steven (Sandy) Stickan of Bryan; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alice Wissman. Private services are to be held and interment will be in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Thompson Funeral Homes are handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research or Anna's House in care of Thompson Funeral Home.

Clarabelle E. Watson
(1932-2005)

DEFIANCE - Clarabelle E. Watson, 73, of Defiance and formerly of Sherwood, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at the Laurels of Defiance.
Born June 27, 1932, in Defiance County, to Louise Anna (Fauth) and Edward Lester Hardesty, she married Clarence Harold Watson on Aug. 30, 1958, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1984.
Employed as a laborer at All Star Products, she was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Valmer (Betty) Browns of Ayersville, Jo Ann Beucler of Bryan and Helen Fitzenrider of Stryker; two brothers, Russell (and wife, Bonnie) Hardesty of Columbus and Ron (Lu Ann) Hardesty of West Unity; 17 nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Helen Hardesty of Oakwood and Jim and Dee Watson of Defiance.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arlo Hardesty.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Katherine Riley to officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance County.
Memorials may be made to the Sherwood United Methodist Church.

Janeen "Jan" B. Grant
(1952-2005)

Janeen -'Jan' B. Grant, 53, of Bryan, died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 6, 2005, at her residence.
Born Nov. 24, 1952, at Angola, Ind., she was the daughter of Judith M. (Shaffer) and Jack E. Walkup.
A Bryan resident since 1980, she had grown up in Pioneer.
She was employed by Gerken Materials, Inc. as a quality control manager for the past 14 years and prior to that worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for several years.
A life member and charter member of the Bryan Amvets Auxiliary Post 54, she was also a member of the Bryan Moose Lodge, Bryan Eagles and the Pioneer American Legion, Post 307.
Surviving are four sons, Dennis (and wife, Diane) Grant of Camron, N.C., Dean (Rachel) Grant of Ostrander, Darian P. Grant of Napoleon and Dana M. Grant of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, James (Sue) Walkup of Coldwater, Mich. and Jeffrey (Twig) Walkup of Coldwater, Mich.; a sister, Jayne Walkup of Fremont, Ind.; and two grandsons, Jamie Grant of Camron, N.C. and Drew Grant of Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. The Bryan Amvet Auxiliary will have a memorial service Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Diane Schaffner to officiate. Interment will be at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. Interment will be at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Cancer Assistance or the C.H.W.C.-Hospice.

Frederick G. Johnston
(1937 - 2005)

SEBRING, Fla. - Frederick G. Johnston, 68, of Sebring, Fla. and a former area resident, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in Sebring.
Born May 23, 1937, at Pontiac, Mich., to Thelma (Stephenson) and Holly Johnston, he married Joan Hoopingarner on July 4, 1958, and she survives.
A 1955 graduate of Camden High School, he had served in the U.S. Navy. He was a farmer, salesman and worked for the Robinair Co. in Montpelier, Ohio.
He belonged to the Independent Baptist Church of Sebring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Betty Roddy of Defiance, Ohio; two sons, Michael (and wife, Mary) Johnston of Jonesville, Mich. and Stanley Johnston of Quincy, Mich.; three sisters, Elizabeth Riggan of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Bob (Cynthia) Fernau of Stevensville, Mich. and Mrs. Tom (Becky) Johnston of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, David (Bev) Johnston of Hillsdale, Mich.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. in the George White Funeral Home, Reading, Mich. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor John Poole to officiate. Interment will follow in Osborne Cemetery, Amboy Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lickley Corners Baptist Church.

Patricia "Patti" Ann Speiser
(1953 - 2005)

WEST UNITY - Patricia "Patti" Ann Speiser, 52, of West Unity and formerly of Bryan, died Saturday at The Filling Home of Mercy of Egly, West Unity.
Born June 23, 1953, in Defiance, she was the daughter of Mary (Boyd) and John I. Speiser.
She had attended Good Samaritan School and Sunnyside School and had worked at Quadco.
Surviving are two brothers, John "Larry" (and wife, Vicki) Speiser of Defiance and Rex Speiser of Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are private. Entombment will be at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
Burr Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospice Program or to the Filling Home of Mercy of Egly.
