Sara E. Kinsley
(1928 - 2005)

Sara E. Kinsley, 77, a resident of Bryan since 1990 and formerly of Westland, Mich., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Born Sept. 14, 1928, in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Muriel E. (Jackson) and Clarence B. Hopkins.
A 1946 graduate of Montpelier High School, she retired after approximately 44 years as a telephone operator. She worked for 36 years for Michigan Bell and originally started in Bryan. Surviving are two brothers, Alton L. "Pete" Hopkins of Edon and James R. Hopkins of Montpelier; two sisters, Mrs. Victor (Rose Mae) Carwan and Mrs. Violet L. Motter, both of Allen Park, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her namesake, Sara Mauk of Edon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; and two brothers, William H. and Clarence R. Jr. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, with Kim Hopkins to officiate.
Memorials may be made to Williams County Cancer Assistance.

James Joost
(1954 - 2005)

SHERWOOD - James Frederick Joost Sr., 51, of Sherwood, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at the University Hospital, Columbus.
Born July 29, 1954, at Defiance, to Gladys (Fittje) and Lorenz Joost, he married Brenda Dull in August of 1972, and she survives.
A 1972 graduate of Fairview High School, he was a farmer, a salesman for Pioneer Seed Company, a board member for Northwest Ethanol and a past member of the Fairview Young Farmers.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Sherwood where he has served on the finance board.
Active in the community, he served as a lifetime member of the Fairview Athletic Boosters, Fairview Summer Baseball League President, the baseball coach for the Colt League, the fifth and sixth grade head football coach and a member of the Lion's Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents of Sherwood; a daughter, Jamie of Bryan; three sons, Jim Jr. of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Ross and Bo at home; and a brother, Larry of Mark Center.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents and a sister, Jean Davis.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., with additional visitation one hour prior to the service, in the St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood. The Rev. Robert Eble is to officiate. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sherwood.
Memorials may be made to the Joost Family Memorial Fund to be distributed to local and community needs as they arise..

Marjorie K. Frey
(1916 - 2005)

ARCHBOLD - Marjorie K. Frey, 89, of Archbold, died Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2005, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had resided since Dec. 18, 2001. Born Jan. 8, 1916, near Wauseon, to Aldina (Vonier) and Edward Grieser, she married Glenferd Frey on Sept. 30, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1998.
A resident of the Wauseon area for many years, she had worked at the former Waldeck's 5¢ & 10¢ Store in Wauseon and at Sheridan Manufacturing Co. in Wauseon.
She did volunteer work at Care & Share in Archbold and was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents and two brothers, Galen Grieser and Herthal Grieser.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel with Pastors Ron Guengerich, Mona Sauder and Randy Nafziger to officiate. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Short Funeral Home, Archbold, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Fairlawn Haven or the donor's favorite charity.

Erma M. Mignerey
(1923 - 2005)

Erma M. Mignerey, 82, of Bryan, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, after battling cancer.
Born May 20, 1923, in Williams County, to Wealthy (Workman) and Marshall C. Leslie, she married Richard E. Mignerey in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
A 1941 graduate of Bryan High School, she lived on a ranch in New Mexico and worked in Colorado and California. Locally, she worked for Toledo Edison, Dr. Vance Hartley, the General Telephone Company and various secretarial jobs including the Millcreek-West Unity Schools.
A writer and prolific poet, she had two children's books published: "Sing Your Own Song" and "Old Mrs. Cluck." She played piano, organ and guitar, using her skills in churches and nursing homes. She also composed many musical compositions and taught piano lessons.
She attended the Victory Barn church in Edgerton and was a former member of the Northwest Ohio Music Teacher's Association and Women Aglow.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Hanson of Bryan; brothers, Alden Leslie of Montpelier and Marshall Leslie of Stryker; and a sister, Mary Alice Carpenter of Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Miller.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Rosene Short to officiate. Burial will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Evelyn Marie Leupp
(1926 - 2005)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Evelyn Marie Leupp, 79, of Birmingham and formerly of Stryker, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, after an extended illness.
Born July 10, 1926, at Archbold, Ohio, to Emma (Schlatter) and Sylvester Grime, she married Charles R. Leupp (of Leupp Brothers Garage) on Jan. 5, 1946, and he preceded her in death in July of 1987.
She was a 1944 graduate of Archbold High School and attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio. She was employed at the 50 Corporation, Bryan, Ohio, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Stryker, and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Stryker.
She lived in Leesburg, Fla. for eight years before moving to Mountain Brook, Ala. to live with her daughter.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Peg) Planson of Birmingham; two grandsons, Craig (and wife, Jennifer) Planson of Willowbrook, Ill. and Scott (Lori) Planson of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Ethan Planson of Willowbrook; and a sister, Helen (Grime) Davidter of Sylvania, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Grime; and a sister, Marlene Grime.
No funeral service is planned. Graveside services at Stryker Cemetery will be conducted at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Marjorie F. Fiser
(1907 - 2005)

PIONEER - Marjorie F. Fiser, 98, of Pioneer, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at her residence.
Born June 11, 1907, in Pioneer, to Lottie M. (Weeder) and Arthur L. Mercer, she married Emerson L. Fiser on Dec. 25, 1926, and he preceded her in death in June of 1983.
A homemaker, she was the oldest native of Pioneer.
Surviving are three daughters, Darlene Kizer of Waldron, Mich., Mary Ellen Walkup of Sturgis, Mich. and Mrs. Ronald (Audree) Schmucker of Pioneer; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Wendel (Martha) Porath of Navarie, Fla.; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Fiser of Pioneer.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James who preceded in February of 2005; three sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home-Pioneer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Nelson Rupp to officiate. Interment will be in Floral Grove, Pioneer.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers.
