Lawrence R. Whitman
(1919 - 2006)

Lawrence R. Whitman, 86, of Bryan, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at his residence.
Born Dec. 9, 1919, at Dekalb County, Ind., to Zella (Huntington) and Henry A. Whitman, he married Betty J. Kittredge and she survives.
An employee of General Motors prior to his retirement, he attended Melbern United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, William (and wife, Marilyn) Whitman, Donald (Regina) Whitman and Jack (Vickie) Whitman, all of Bryan, and John (Debby) Whitman of Montpelier; a daughter, Mrs. Marlin (Ruth Marie) Grimm of West Unity; 12 grandchildren, Debra Wilson of Montpelier, Steve Grimm of Lima, Brenda Jasmund of Millbrook, Ala., Marty Whitman of Bryan, Todd Whitman of Melbern, Scott Whitman of Bryan, Kim Pringle of Bryan, Wendy Schaper of Bryan, Doug Grimm of Bryan, Derek Whitman of Montpelier, Kevin Whitman of Bryan and Erin Whitman of Bloomington, Ill.; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Whitman of Bryan; and a sister, Mrs. John (Beulah) McQuade of Detroit, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hal Whitman; a sister, Zola Whitman; and a grandson, David Grimm.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Bill Priest to officiate. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Melbern United Methodist Church or the Community Hospitals and Wellness Center Hospice program.

Florence B. Grime
(1914 - 2006)

ARCHBOLD - Florence B. Grime, 91, of Archbold, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
Born Aug. 13, 1914, in Stryker, to Gertrude (Coy) and John Curtis, she married John Grime on Aug. 3, 1933, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
Prior to her retirement, she had written the "Flowing Along" column in the Fulton County Expositor, had worked as a correspondent for the Defiance Crescent and had worked in the Archbold High School cafeteria for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Archbold.
Surviving are a daughter, Deanna Ziegler of Findlay; two sons, Howard (and wife, Mary) Grime of Defiance and John "Gene" (Cindy) Grime of Napoleon; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (June) Curtis of Sherwood and Tom (Betty) Curtis of Riverview, Mich.; and a daughter-in-law, Violet Grime of Archbold.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Grime; a daughter, Teresa Van Pelt; a brother, Lawrence Curtis; and four sisters, Ella Mae Sauers, Evelyn Vargo, Isabel Psurny and Rosie Buehrer.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-8 p.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, Archbold.
Funeral mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Father Gary Ferguson to officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Cemetery, near Archbold.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of arrangements.

Betty J. Bishop
(1935 - 2006)

Betty J. Bishop, 70, of rural Bryan, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at her residence.
Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Winchester, Ind., to Ruby (Eveson) and Everett Smith, she married Daniel L. Bishop on Dec. 10, 1954, and he survives.
A factory worker at Ohio Art, Spangler Candy Co. and Harmon and Handy in Archbold until her retirement, she was also a self-taught artist specializing in oil painting.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Craig Bishop; daughters, Mrs. Dan (Pamela) Shuck and Mrs. Mike (Dina) Culler, all of Bryan; grandchildren, James Bishop of West Unity, Collin and Sarah Bishop of Sherwood, Elizabeth Saylor of Nez Perce, Idaho, Salli  Jones of Cincinnati, Nick and Bernie  Jones and Sean and Sam Culler, all of Bryan; a great-granddaughter, Dacey Kay Bishop of West Unity; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1965; her mother in 2001; a sister, Edna Paxton in 1997; and a brother, Everett I. Smith in 1998.
Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home-Bryan has been entrusted with the arrangements and services. Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospice.

Domingo C. Resendez Sr.
(1930 - 2005)

Domingo C. Resendez Sr., 75, of Bryan, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Del Rio, Texas, while visiting relatives.
Born Jan. 19, 1930, in Hidalgo County, Texas, to Gabina (Contreras) and Pilar Resendez, he married Juanita Pena on Aug. 23, 1952, in Texas, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 1987.
He was employed by General Motors in Defiance for 35 years before his retirement.
Surviving are four sons, Domingo P. (and wife, Vicki) Resendez Jr. and Pilar (Yolanda) Resendez, both of Bryan, Gualupe (Debbie) Resendez of Montpelier and Mariano Resendez of Hicksville; four daughters, Mrs. Pablo (Ruth) Cuenca of Edgerton, Mrs. Francisco (Millie) Ramirez of Wauseon, Mrs. Rosendo (Elizabeth) Zuniga of Edgerton and Mrs. Enrique (Esther) Rubio of Edgerton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home-Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Rene Mejia to officiate. Burial will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.

Helen E. Starr

EDON - Helen E. Starr, 87, formerly of Edon, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Center in Montpelier, where she was a resident the past four years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Christian Union Church near Edon, with her grandson, the Rev. Kevin Starr, to officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Christian Union Church, Edon.

Gerald L. Prucha

LOUISVILLE - Gerald L. Prucha, 76, of Louisville, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East.
A native of Lorain, he was a retired lawyer, having worked in Lorain.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard and Ned Prucha; four nieces and two nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Highlands Family-Owned Funeral is in charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Ann (Luderman) Celenko
(1956 - 2006)

Rebecca Ann (Luderman) Celenko, 49, died at her home in Bryan on Dec. 30, 2005.
Born Dec. 30, 1956, at Defiance, she was the daughter of Jeannine (Speiser) and Robert Luderman.
A 1976 graduate of Hicksville High School, she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood.
Surviving are her parents, Jeannine and Robert Luderman of Hicksville; a brother, Bob (and wife, Lori) Luderman Jr. of Ayersville; a sister, Maria Gaugler of Springboro; grandmother, Laura Luderman Pirtle of Bryan; four nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by three grandparents.
Visitation will be held today from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to the service in St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, with the Rev. Robert D. Eble to officiate.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sherwood.
Memorials may be made to the church or to the donor's choice.
