Walter Henry Yenser

PAULDING - Walter Henry Yenser, 73, of Paulding, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at his residence. Born in Paulding County, to Matilda (Klima) and Charles Yenser, he married Deloris I. Boroff on Jan. 7, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2000.
A U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the First Christian Church, Paulding, and the U.A.W. No. 211.
He retired from G.M. Powertrain, Defiance, in 1999, after 48 years.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffery (and wife, Cindy) Yenser of Weston and Joseph (Linda) Yenser of Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Barry (Dorrean) Vance of Paulding and Mrs. Joseph (Waldean) Webber of Bryan; four sisters, Amy Noffsinger of Continental, Emma 'Katie' Brown of Defiance, Viva Brown of Nappanee, Ind. and Evelyn Schlegel of Paulding; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lucy Schmunk Dangler and Virginia Doster, and two brothers William Yenser and Gale Yenser.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and Friday from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Charles Schmunk to officiate. Burial will be in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Paulding, or Paulding County Area Visiting Nurses & Hospice.

Gaylen L. Smith
(1935-2006)

HICKSVILLE - Gaylen L. Smith, 70, of Hicksville, died Monday, April 10, 2006.
Born June 19, 1935, at Kalida, to Dorothy (Heising) and John C. Smith, he married Donna Brannan and she survives.
A 1954 graduate of Hicksville High School, he worked as a tool and die setter at Hayes-Albion, West Unity, for 17 years and Meyer Stamping & Mfg., Fort Wayne, Ind., for 17 years until his retirement.
He was a member of First Church of Christ, Hicksville, and was previously a Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder and Sunday school superintendent at West Milford Church of Christ, Hicksville. He was involved in the community as a Pony League baseball coach, Cub and Weblo Scout leader.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by three sons, Rick (and wife, Lisa) of Toledo, Roy (Pam) of Hicksville and Philip (Lea) of Toledo; three daughters, Gale Smith and Monica Smith, both of Hicksville, and Tina Smith of Kendallville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Leah, Emily, Nathan, Amelia and Grace Smith; two brothers, Robert of Hicksville and Harold of Butler, Ind.; and two sisters, Helen Mooney of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Sandra Essex of Hicksville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eleanor Kornell.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-9 p.m. in the Smith & Brown Funeral Home-Hicksville and Friday from 10-11 a.m. in the First Church of Christ, Hicksville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Ken Wellman to officiate. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
Memorials may be made to the church, Hospice of Defiance County, American Cancer Society or  Johnson Memorial Library.

Donald C. Peffley
(1921-2006)

DEFIANCE - Donald C. Peffley, 85, of Defiance, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at The Toledo Hospital, Toledo.
Born April 7, 1921, in Omaha, Neb., to Anna (Keeler) and Clarence Peffley, he married Laura Schomburg in June 1999 and she survives.
An Army veteran, having served during World War II, he was employed at Dinner Bell Meats as a meat packer until his retirement in 1985.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Defiance, he was a life member and past commander of VFW Post No. 3360 and a member of the Cooties. He was also a member and Past Commander of DAV and was a member of the Jewell Legion, Defiance Eagles, Moose and Elks, and the Defiance Amvets.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lanny (Carole) Graham of Schaumburg, Ill., Mrs. Mike (Sheryl) Epple of Defiance and Mrs. Dave (Jane) Zedaker of Defiance; three sons, Craig (and wife, Paula) Peffley of Montpelier, Mike (Jeanne) Peffley of Defiance and Ben (Jaime) Peffley of Wheelersburg; three stepdaughters, Cindy Abner of Piqua, Mrs. Walter (Laurie) Martishius of Tiffin and Mrs. Doug (Linda) Welly of Bryan; two stepsons, Gary (Karen) Lewis of Defiance and Scott (Amy) Lewis of Defiance; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Reeb of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna Peffley, and his parents.
Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-9 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Craig Peffley to officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance County. Graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 3360.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Fellowship Club.

Inez L. Baker
(1930 - 2006)

MONTPELIER - Inez L. Baker, 75, of Montpelier, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at her home, of apparent natural causes.
Born Aug. 17, 1930, at Montpelier, to Goldie Marie (Peck) and Albert J. Baker, she was a graduate of Montpelier High School.
Employed for many years at the former Kimmel's Drug Store, she was later employed at Beam-Stream, Inc. of Montpelier for several years until her retirement.
She was very active in bowling leagues for many years at NECO Lanes at Montpelier.
There are no surviving relatives.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Baker.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, with Pastor John Rumple to officiate. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice through Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.

Maurice C. Gentit
(1915 - 2006)

STRYKER - Maurice C. Gentit, 90, of Stryker, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Stryker as the result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
Born June 11, 1915, near Stryker, to Nora (Augustine) and Frederick Gentit, he married Ruth Pauline Smith on June 25, 1947, and she preceded him in death in 2000.
An Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, he had worked at Metal Forge in Stryker prior to his retirement.
Surviving are a son, Tom Gentit of Stryker; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Nancy) Wright of Van Wert; three grandchildren; and a stepson, Ronald Coleman of Yarmouth, Maine.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Verle Gentit.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Ernest Belella to officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Stryker.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Joseph Henry Sack
(1903 - 2006)

Joseph Henry Sack, 102, of Bryan and formerly of Toledo, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born Aug. 3, 1903, to Caroline (Franks) and Charles Sack, he married Verna Leona Casey on April 16, 1931, in Toledo, and she preceded him in death on July 16, 1956.
Beginning his career working in the coal and limestone mines of Pennsylvania, he later entered the gas station business, where he worked for 40 years. He owned the first Socony Vacuum Oil Co. Station in the state of Ohio.
Surviving is a son, Gerald (and wife, Barbara) Sack of Bryan; grandchildren, Randy (Lori) Fisher of Bryan, Frank (Amy) Thomas of St. Petersburg, Fla., John (Jody) Shultz of Bryan and James (Michelle) Sack of Edgerton; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Palermo of Hanover, Pa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Fred and Louie Sack, and four sisters, Lucy Amedia, Mary Notares, Margaret Natale and Belle Cimmone.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a scripture service to be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Sister Regina Smith to officiate. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Share Foundation or Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
