KENDALLVILLE — Ida Josephine Gisel, 85, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, where she had resided eight days. She had been ill three weeks.

Services will be at 11 a.m. (Indiana time) Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church, 411 Harding St., Kendallville, with the Rev. James Toole officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. (Indiana time) today at the Hite Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Kendallville.

Robert F. Pubentz
Died: Saturday, September 20, 2003
Age: 84

CELINA — Robert F. "Bud" Pubentz, 84, of Celina died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at his residence.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Ed Groff officiating. Burial will be in North Grove Cemetery with military graveside services.

Calling was Sunday at the funeral home.

Jacqueline R. Biggs
Died: Wednesday, October 29, 2003
Age: 74

CELINA — Jacqueline R. "Jackie" Biggs, 74, of Celina died at 2:02 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Katie Hayes officiating.

Visitation is one hour prior to service time Monday at the funeral home.

H. Robert Foreman
Died: Wednesday, October 29, 2003
Age: 75

H. Robert Foreman, 75, of Van Wert died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

He was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of the late Homer Elsworth and Vera Mae (Ankney) Foreman. On Feb. 7, 1948, he married Leota Pearl "Tote" Sigler, who preceded him in death on May 30, 1997.

Mr. Foreman retired in 1988 from Chrysler Corporation after 19 years of service. A World War II veteran he served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. He was a 1946 graduate of Van Wert High School and a life member of both Isaac Van Wert Post 178, American Legion and Robert G. Longwell Post 5803, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Van Wert, and a member of BPO Elks Lodge 1197, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1320 and Masonic Lodge 218, F & AM, all of Van Wert.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Elaine (Dick) Stemen of Catlettsburg, Ky., Susan (David L.) Younts of Middle Point and Debra Whitaker of Belle Center; one brother, Eugene D. (Norma) Foreman of Van Wert; two sisters, Virginia J. (David) Pollock of Van Wert and Shirley (Robert) Adams of Mendon; five grandchildren, Dawn (Wehage) Freeman of Van Wert, Jason Younts of Manchester, Mich., Trenton Younts of Middle Point, Travis Finkhousen of Columbus and Bryan Finkhousen of Tampa, Fla.; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Megan Freeman, Garrett Freeman and Erika Younts, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Lee Foreman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Joachim Willick of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Van Wert officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by combined honor guard from the VFW and American Legion.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where Masonic services will be held Friday evening.

Preferred memorials are Van Wert Dialysis Center or St. Marks Lutheran Church.

Clarence P. Mottinger
Died: Tuesday, October 28, 2003
Age: 68

FREMONT, Ind. — Clarence P. Mottinger, 68, of Fremont died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, in Fremont.

He was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Van Wert, the son of the late Alfred and Lucille (Hoverman) Mottinger. On May 25, 1954, he married Betty Jane Schroeder, who preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 1982. On Dec. 12, 1988, in Fremont, he married Connie S. Clouse, who survives in Fremont.

Mr. Mottinger retired in 1988 from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He also enjoyed golf and loved animals.

Other survivors include two sons, Kent Mottinger of Candler, N.C., and Douglas (Linda) Mottinger of Coldwater, Mich.; two daughters, Kay (Tom) Varley of Bellville and Nikki (Steve) Burrell of Fremont; six grandchildren, Jonathan Varley, Karla Varley, Emily and Kelly Mottinger, Samantha and Christina Jane Burrell, and a sister, Dorothy (Max) Bennett of Ohio City.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Mottinger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, the Rev. Wayne Berkesch officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is American Cancer Society, 2420 N. Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46803.

Virginia I. Sheely
Died: Tuesday, October 28, 2003
Age: 81

PAYNE — Virginia I. Sheely, 81, of Payne died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Payne, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Margaret (Spence) Boyd. On Oct. 11, 1942, she married John Eugene Sheely, who survives.

Mrs. Sheely was a homemaker.

Other survivors include:

Sons — Laurence (Alby) Sheely of Winterhaven, Fla., David (Jan) Sheely of Hudson, Mich., Robert (Marla) Sheely of Hamilton and Kevin (Tina) Sheely of Harlan, Ind.

Daughters — Geneva (Jim Greenwood) Thiese of Hamilton and Melinda (Steve) Lee of Mandeville, La.

Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, the Rev. Amy L. Haines officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery, Payne.

Calling hours are 2-5 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements were handled by Slade Funeral Home, Payne.

Orbie Melvin Colegrove
Died: Tuesday, October 28, 2003
Age: 65

CONVOY — Orbie Melvin Colegrove, 65, of Convoy died at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.

He was born Dec. 8, 1937, in Floyd County, Ky., the son of the late Howard and Ella (Nichols) Colegrove. On March 20, 1956, in Virginia, he married Opal Wilson, who survives at the residence.

Mr. Colegrove was retired. He attended Jennings Road Church of Christ in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jamie L. White of Convoy and Vickie S. (Dennis) Schulte of Van Wert; two sisters, Mary Moore of Marion and Dorothy Thompson of Lorain, and four grandchildren, Denae (Steve) Bishop, Nick Schulte, Jordan White and Tyler White .

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Stainfield Memorial Home, Convoy, the Rev. David Ray of Jennings Road Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Convoy.

Calling hours are 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Convoy.

Preferred memorials are Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses or the Angel Foundation.
