H. Richard Beckner

H. Richard "Rick" Beckner, 35, of Van Wert died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was born June 20, 1968, in Van Wert, the son of Harold Beckner and Pam (Rupert) Beckner, who survive in Delphos. On Sept. 28, 1991, he married Kristina Arn, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Beckner worked at Federal Mogul, Van Wert, as a press operator. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert and the Van Wert Eagles.
Other survivors include a son, Bryce Beckner at home and a sister Holly Schrader of Delphos.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Timothy Burden officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is to the family.
Anna L. Kiess

Age: 87
DECATUR, Ind. — Anna L. Kiess, 87, of Decatur, died Sunday, Oct., 5, 2003, at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
Her daughter, Carol (Julian) Cramer survives in Van Wert.
Angela Jean Mason
Died: Friday, October 24, 2003
Age: 35
CONVOY — Angela Jean Mason, 35, of rural Convoy died at 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, from ALS at home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1968, in Defiance, the daughter of Bobbie Battin of Ney and the late Wayne Brown. On June 5, 1990, in Phoenix, Ariz., she married Robert J. "Bob" Mason Jr., who survives in Convoy.
Other survivors include her stepfather, Lale Battin of Ney; her grandmother, Elizabeth Killion of Defiance; one daughter, Jessica (Nick) Disbro of Edon; one son, Tyler at home; two brothers, Bill Battin of Florida and James Battin of Sherwood; four sisters, Sarah Goller of Ney, Ruth (Bernard) Hahn of Napoleon, Tina (Dave) Fox of Florida and Jenny Brown of Bloomington, Ind., and two grandchildren, Trenton and Reece Disbro.
Mrs. Mason, a 1987 graduate of Fairview High School, had been employed at Roundy’s, Van Wert. She was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are ALS Association, Van Wert Hospice and Tyler Mason Fund.
Karen Sueanne Alt
Died: Thursday, October 23, 2003
Age: 47
CELINA — Karen Sueanne Alt, 47, formerly of Celina, who had been a resident of the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston for many years, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina, the Rev. Thomas Arheit officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Anna D. (Youtsey) Williams
Died: Wednesday, October 22, 2003
Age: 81
LIMA — Anna D. (Youtsey) Williams, 81, died at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Frank and Magdelina (Pala) Studenka. On Feb. 9, 1984, she married Stewart J. Williams, a 48-year engineer for CSX, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1995.
Mrs. Williams was a retired professional cosmetologist. She owned and operated Ann’s Beauty Shop in Wapakoneta for many years. Prior to that, she was a long-time employee of the R.G. Dunn Cigar Factory, Delphos. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, George (Deborah) Youtsey of Wapakoneta; five daughters, Linda (DeWayne) Willingham and Patty (Rodney) Pulfer, both of Convoy, Connie Copus of Lima, Cindy (Paul) Niese of Columbus Grove and Vikki (Rick) Barton of Lima; one sister-in-law, Virginia Studenka of Lima; 12 grandchildren, Kim (Craig) Shively, Thom (Lora) Griffith, Kelly (Eric) Stachler, Christopher Pulfer, David Copus Jr., Tracey (Kristi) Copus, Sarah (Jeremy) Saam, John (Shannon) Youtsey, Dustin (Kelly) Bush, A.J. Pope, Amanda Niese and Ryan Niese, and 7 great-grandchildren, Megan Shively, Daniel Shively, Michael Griffith, Jacob Griffith, Trevor Mobley, Blake Youtsey and Caiden Bush.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, John Studenka, Charles Studenka, Steve Studenka, Joe Studenka, Frank Studenka and Louis Studenka.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, the Rev. Tina Dietsch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. today and an hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is donor’s choice.
Ethel E. Wallace
Died: Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Age: 98
Ethel E. Wallace, 98, of Van Wert died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born March 21, 1905, in York Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Nathan and Sarah (Roush) Dunifon. On Sept. 6, 1930, she married Sherman H. Wallace, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2000.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a 1925 graduate of Van Wert High School and Cincinnati Missionary Training School. She worked for a year at a children’s home in Helena, Mont.
Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis (Walter) Koch of Elida, Marlene (Jack) McHenney of Van Wert and Naomi (Rex) Moore of Decatur, Ind.; a son, David (Nancy) Wallace of New Haven; 14 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Doyt and Thomas Dunifon, and one sister, Mable Strickler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 3:30-8:30 p.m. today at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert.
Preferred memorials are First United Methodist Church-Hospice-Activities Fund of Vancrest Health Care Center.
Naomi Leupp
Died: Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Age: 93
ARCHBOLD — Naomi Leupp, 93, of Archbold died Tuesday morning, Oct. 21, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill at Rockford where she had resided since March 2003.
She was born Oct. 6, 1910, near Pettisville, the daughter of the late Ezra and Cora (Miller) Frey. On Feb. 19, 1931, she married Orlen Leupp, who preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1973.
Mrs. Leupp was head cook at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold for many years and prior to that was a cook at Detwiler Memorial Hospital in Wauseon.
Survivors include:
Sons — Ron (Viv) Leupp of Wichita, Kan., Leslie Leupp of Huntingdon, Pa., and Larry Leupp of Wauseon
Daughters — Donna (Gerry) Mast of Elkhart, Ind., Joan (Bill) Long of Rockford, Janice (Don) Hancock of Berne, Ind., Judy (Gary) Sears and Karen (Steve) Schnitkey, both of Archbold
Brother — Vernon (Marie) Frey of Archbold
Sister — Orpha Frey of Archbold
Eighteen grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, and three brothers, Wilbur Frey, Roy Frey and Glenferd Frey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Mennonite Church, near Archbold, with the Revs. Jeffrey Smith, Charles Gautsche and Eric Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.
