Narcisa Adella Salazar
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Age: 88

Narcisa Adella Salazar, 88, of Van Wert died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert.

She was born Oct. 28, 1914, in San Louis Positi, Mexico, the daughter of the late Fermin and Luz (Banda) Nieto. She married Pedro Salazar, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include:

Son — Rudolph Salazar of Deerfield, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Felix Salazar.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Michael Edward Lehmann
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Age: 65

Michael Edward Lehmann, 65, of Delphos, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at his residence.

He was born April 2, 1938 in Delphos, the son of Morris "Didd" and Martha (Holdgreve) Lehmann. On Dec. 26, 1959, he married Marthanne Guthrie, who survives in Delphos.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos, and graduated from Delphos St. John's High School in 1956. He was a member of the Delphos Canal Commission, Delphos Eagles, Delphos V.F.W., Delphos Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Delphos Jaycees and Delphos Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Lehmann was a retired owner of Lehmann's Furniture Store in Delphos. He served in the United States Navy, and served two years on the USS Lake Champlain as an electrician.

He is survived by one son, Chris F. Lehmann of Delphos, one sister, Diana Ireland of Delphos and a daughter, Susan (Ed) Miller of Elida. He is also survived by a son-in-law, Charles E. Klausing of Elida and grandchildren Josh and Rachel Miller and Nicole, Justin and Scott Klausing.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Klausing, who died in 2000.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2003 at St. John's the Evangelistic Catholic Church in Delphos. military grave rites will be conducted by the Delphos VA Council. Father Thomas Gorman will officiate.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, July 26 and 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at Harter & Son Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27. Memorial contributions can be made to Delphos Canal Commission, St. Rita's Hospice, American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.

Dorothy M. Death
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Age: 91

Dorothy M. Death, 91, of Van Wert, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Haven of Help in Van Wert.

She was born July 29, 1911 in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Azalea D. (Anspach) and Stephen N. Lee. In 1965, she married Dale Death, who preceded her in death in March of 1974.

Survivors include a son, Donald G. (Pat)  Johnson of Van Wert; two daughters, Dorothy L. (Robert) Stemen and Carolyn M. (Richard) Goodwin, both of Van Wert; a brother, Glen A. Lee of Convoy; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Troy A.  Johnson died July 19 of 2003 and a brother, Bill Lee and two sisters, Florence E. Lee and an infant sister are also deceased.

Mrs. Death retired from Federal Mogul in 1973 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Silver Seals Retirees of Federal Mogul.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Bill Jeffress officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Adams County, Ind.

Preferred memorials are the donor's choice.

Mildred A. Young
Died: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Age: 90

OAKWOOD — Mildred A. Young, 90, died at 5:37 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at the Paradise Oaks Health Care Center in Cloverdale, where she had been a resident since 1998. She was a former resident of Oakwood.

She was born Sept. 5, 1912, in Brown Township, Paulding County, the daughter of Alva and Margaret (Stephen) Benedict. On Feb. 9, 1935, in Defiance, she married Donald N. Young, who preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1999.

She was a homemaker, a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and a member of the church's friendship class.

She is survived by a niece, Ann Fredrick of Dayton and a nephew, Jim Corkwell of Hicksville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Everett Benedict, and two sisters, Pauline Hanson and Ruth Arnold.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, in the Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding. Burial will be in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Oakwood. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 25 and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Oakwood United Methodist Church.

Edythe Ann Neiswander
Died: Tuesday, July 22, 2003
Age: 67

CHESTERFIELD — Edythe Ann Neiswander, 67, born in Van Wert on July 15, 1936, died on July 22, 2003 at home in Chesterfield, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Olive Jackson, and her brother, Jerry L. Jackson. She is survived by her husband, H. Richard Neiswander; one son, David E. (Christina) Neiswander; three daughters, Jean Ann (Paul) Burgener, Tarren Neiswander and Amy (Michael) Smith; one brother, John Richard Jackson; and five grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Burgener, Quinton and Carrie Ann Smith, and Grace Neiswander.

Mrs. Neiswander gladly served her Lord through 25 years of service as a secretary for the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Deputy Grand Matron for District Number 1 in Ohio in 1987.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bliley Funeral Homes‚ Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., Richmond Va.

A Celebration of Ann's Life will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church, 5900 Hull Street Rd. Richmond Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship - attn: Donor Services, P.O. Box 3202, Redlands, CA 92373

John F. Flagg Jr.
Died: Saturday, August 02, 2003
Age: 76

CONVOY — John F. Flagg Jr., 76, of rural Convoy died at 9:47 a.m. (EDT) Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.

He was born July 5, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of the late John F. and Lila (Sweet) Flagg. On Dec. 5, 1973, he married Donna L. Figert, who survives of Convoy.

Mr. Flagg was an electrician for the former IBEW No. 107 Union in Grand Rapids, Mich., for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and also served in the Merchant Marines and Coast Guard.

Other survivors include:

Children — Judy Klunejko and Michele D. Flagg, both of Grand Rapids, and Sherry K. Bouwman of Kalamazoo, Mich.

Stepchildren — Tim (April) Miller of Payne, Gwen (Gary)  Johnson of Rochester, Mich., Penny J. Dillinger of Ossian, Ind., and Marvin K. Miller of Zanesville

Brother — Fred (Chyoko) Flagg of Seattle, Wash.

Sister — Loraine Flagg of Lansing, Mich.

Fifteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, the Rev. Bud Walls officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Vincent Cemetery, Paulding County, with military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.

Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

G. Milford Holland
Died: Saturday, August 02, 2003
Age: 83

G. Milford Holland, 83, of Van Wert died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Lincolnway Home, Middle Point.

He was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Van Wert, the son of the late John C. and Rose A. (Berger) Holland.

Mr. Holland retired from the former Continental Can Co. after 42 years of employment. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where he had been an usher for many years, a 1938 graduate of the former Ridge High School and a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.

Other survivors include a sister, Margaret Holland of Van Wert; seven nephews, James Holland of Van Wert, Lee Holland of Chester, Va., Clifford Holland of Anadale, N.J., Richard Pobjecky of Titusville, Fla., David Pobjecky of Auburndale, Fla., Robert Pobjecky of Winterhaven, Fla., and Thomas Pobjecky of Tallahassee, Fla.; two nieces, Sharon Owens of Marion, Ohio, and Ann Sivills of Winterhaven, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Pobjecky, and three brothers, John E. Holland, Harold L. Holland and Richard K. Holland.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services conducted by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 pm. Tuesday.

Preferred memorial is charity of donor’s choice.
