ST. MARYS - Robert L. Donovan, 68, of St. Marys died at 5 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at his residence following an apparent heart attack.
He was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Mercer County. On May 14, 1953, he married Mildred Jane Miller, who survives.
Mr. Donovan retired from Hayes-Albion Corp. (Trim Trends) in Spencerville where he worked in the maintenance department. He farmed and also owned and operated Donovan's Auto Wrecking near Grand Lake St. Marys.

Sons - Dennis (Cheryl) Donovan and Robert (Theresa) Donovan, both of St. Marys

Sister - Carolyn Drake of Montezuma
Three grandchildren and a stepgrandchild also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Chaney.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Herb Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Rita M. Kesler
Died: Thursday, May 29, 2003
Age: 83
DELPHOS - Rita M. Kesler, 83, of Delphos died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Rahrig) Friemoth. On Feb. 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to Hayden Kesler by the Rev. William Friemoth. Her husband preceded her in death on May 15, 1990. Mrs. Kesler was a nurse at Van Wert County Hospital for 37 years, supervising for 14 years. She retired in 1977. She attended Delphos St. John's, graduated from Van Wert High School and was a 1940 graduate of St. Rita's Nursing School. She helped start and organize Visiting Nurses when they first opened and served as chairman of Van Wert Visiting Nurses Advisory Board. An avid doll collector, she was a member of Tri-County Doll Club. She was also a member of the registered nurses association and St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Survivors include two sons, James A. (Carolyn) Kesler and Keith (Lori) Allen of Van Wert; one daughter, Susanne Keister of Delphos; three brothers, Eugene (Dorthy) Friemoth and Don (Irene) Friemoth, both of Van Wert and Elmer E. (Helen) Friemoth of Elida; six grandchildren, Erin (Todd) Hansen, Melissa (Gregory) Odenweller, Erica (Kirk) Berryman, J.D. Keister and Katie and Jamie Allen, and six great-grandchildren, Derek and Jonathon Hansen, Alex and Jeffrey Odenweller and Allison and Adam Berryman. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Louis Friemoth, a sister, Lucille Allen, and a grandson, Kevin Kesler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Todd Dominque officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Calling hours were held 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, where a parish wake service was held Sunday. Preferred memorial is Delphos Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
Laura Rose Atterberry
Died: Thursday, May 29, 2003
Age: 46
DELPHOS - Laura Rose Atterberry, 46, of Delphos died at 8:29 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 22, 1956, in Lima, the daughter of Elizabeth J. (Lucke) Ricker of Delphos and the late Rudolph Wurst. She married Dennis Atterberry.
Mrs. Atterberry was district administrator for Western & Southern Life Insurance Company.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, and an hour prior to service Tuesday at the church.
Ann Rose Balser
Died: Thursday, May 29, 2003
Age: 59
ANTWERP - Ann Rose Balser, 59, of Antwerp died 7 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Paulding, the daughter of the late Lewis L. and Helen M. (Longstreth) Elston. On June 26, 1965, she married Jerry Balser, who survives.
Mrs. Balser worked as a X-ray technician for 35 years.

Sisters - Bonnie Clemens and Maxine Treece, both of Paulding, Carolyn Roth of Tilton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Balser, and a sister, Ruth Stoller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Antwerp United Methodist Church, Antwerp, the Revs. Gregory Swann and Thomas Ketzler officiating. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Paul M. Sipes
Died: Thursday, May 22, 2003
Age: 68
Paul M. Sipes, 68, of Largo, Fla., died May 22, 2003, at home.
He was born in Elnora, Ind., and moved from Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1973. He was a retired school teacher from Pinellas County, Fla., and a volunteer at Bay Pines V.A. Medical Center. He served his country as a Marine in Korea and in the Army in VietNam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion and DAV.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; daughters Sharon Alexeichik of Allen, Texas, Paulette Sipes-Brown of Van Wert, Kelly Shatwell of Oklahoma, Julie Madrigal of Flowery Branch, Ga., Stacy Sipes Brown of Fort Wayne and Shannon Sipes-Cook of Largo, Fla.; three stepsons, Harry, Jeffery, and Russell Swain; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Dollard and Julia Roach; four brothers; four sisters; 27 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
His son, Timothy Patrick Sipes, died in 1956.
Burial was at Bay Pines V.A. Cemetery, Florida, with ashes scattered at John’s Pass, Fla.
Gifts to Fort Wayne V.A. Hospital.
Joseph Perrin
Died: Wednesday, May 21, 2003
Age: 77
DELPHOS - Joseph Perrin, 77, died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born May 30, 1925, in Putnam County, the son of the late William and Helena (Weber) Perrin. On July 15, 1950, he married Ethel Kennedy, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Perrin, a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Antietam, retired from Westinghouse.
Survivors include:
Sons - Bill (Sue) Perrin of Lima and Mike Perrin of Harrod
Daughter - Becky Perrin of Delphos
Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Perrin, and one sister, Mary Fleming.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a VFW service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday followed by a parish wake service at 7:45 p.m. Monday.
