Claudine Hart 12/15/2004

Claudine Hart, age 73, of East Main Street, Cardington, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at Med Central Hospital in Mansfield. She was born July 31, 1931 in Cardington to the late Omar G. and Mabel Marie (Hart) Hart.

She was 1951 graduate of Cardington High School and a member of Cardington First United Methodist Church. Claudine's employment included 20 years at R. B. Powers Company, 10 years at North Electric and 10 years for the local telephone company.

Claudine is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Norma Jean Squires of Cardington and Donna and Charles Martin of Ashley; also by 2 nieces,7 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, December 17, 2004 from 4-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 1PM. Pastor Jay Weaver will officiate and burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Claudine's memory to Heart of Ohio Dialysis Center in care of Gompf Funeral Service, 440 South Center Street Cardington, Ohio 43315 or the donor's choice of charity.

Sable Lynn Cumston 12/12/2004

Sable Lynn Cumston infant daughter of Sabrina L. Hall and William C. Cumston died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

In addition to her parents survivors include maternal grandparents, John and Vicki Dennison of Cambridge; paternal grandparents Diane and Carl Wagner of Marion; maternal great-grandparents Victor and Betty Miller; paternal great-grandmother, Alma Clunk; great-great aunts, Joan Banning of Marion and Sally Rengert and Helen Trefz both of Cardington; great-aunts and great-uncles, Mike and Nancy Mead and Randy and Eileen Hall all of Richwood, Bob and Linda Mermann of Cardington, Rick and Susan Clunk of Radnor; aunts and uncles, Todd and Carletta Feasel of Newark, Jim and Tonia Harrison of Cleveland, Mercie and Shawn Miller, Amy and Gary Dennis, David Hall, Bobby Hall, Adam and Shannon Hall and Corina and Brent Borders; and 10 cousins.

Sable was preceded in death by a cousin, Brock Hall.

Friends may call from 11AM to Noon on Monday, December 20, 2004 at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Graveside services will follow at St. John Lutheran Church (Windfall) Cemetery with Pastor Donald Pletcher officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Gompf Funeral Home, 440 South Center Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315.

Richard K Renz 12/11/2004

Richard K Renz, age 86, of Cardington died Saturday evening December 11, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born May 5, 1918 in Westfield Township to the late Karl T. and Bertha M (Schorr) Renz.

Richard was a 1937 graduate of Cardington High School and a graduate of the Marion Business College. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services where he worked for 40 years.

He was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Jenkins-Vaughan American Legion Post # 97, Cardington and Morrow County Senior Citizens' the Alpha Twig of the Morrow County Hospital and the Aid Association for Lutherans. In 2002, Richard received the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging's Outstanding Senior Citizen Award.

On September 7, 1941 in Cardington, Richard married the former Hazel Haas and she preceded him in death on November 1, 1994.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Renz of Columbus; one son, Norman (Janet) Renz of Reynoldsburg; granddaughter, Julie (Marc) Marlatt; he was also Great Papa to Mariah and Jada; granddaughter, Kristin Renz; one sister, Mrs. Guy (Juanita) Cramer of Delaware and his close friend, Joan Geyer of Edison.

Friends may call Wednesday, December 15, 2004 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 1PM at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cardington with the Reverend Edward Wahl officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Union Cemetery.

Deborah Brandum Short 08/21/2005

Deborah Brandum Short, age 52 of Marion, Ohio, formerly of Cardington, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at OSU Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1953 to Lowell "Clayton" and Thelma M. (Ruggles) Brandum whom survive in Cardington.

A 1971 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School, Deborah had also graduated from Cosmetology School and was a homemaker.

Additional survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, David "Mike" and Tonya Ellis of Lynchburg, OH and Chris and Kelly Ellis of West Chester, OH; two grandchildren, Ashley and Luke; and three siblings and their spouses, Clayton, "Jr" and Betty Brandum, Robert "Doc" and Karolyn Brandum of Cardington and Cathy and Dennis Hayes of Marengo.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 24, 2005 from 5-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 11AM. Pastor Rick Becker will officiate and burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Russell "Rus" A. Staats 08/19/2005

Russell "Rus" A. Staats age 55, of Fulton, Ohio died Friday August 19, 2005 at home after a brief illness.

Rus was born January 25, 1950 in Mansfield to Russell L. and Ardella G. Butterbaugh Staats and graduated from Clearfork High School.

He was a longtime Morrow County resident, an avid reader, movie watcher, Ford and Cleveland Browns fan and loved to target shoot. Rus was a man of few words.

Surviving are "The love of his life", wife Barbara A. Holmes Staats; a son and daughter-in-law Roy "Chip" and Lynn Walde, Jr.; daughter, Michelle Staats and Steven Heimlich; son, Anthony "Tony" Staats and Julie Covrett; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Steve Coburn; 10 grandchildren, Tabatha and Bobbie Ann Walde, Susan, Toni Marie, Tristan and Hannah Staats, Jessie and Jenny Lyons, Jimmie and Stephanie Coburn; 1 great grandson Nicky Walde; and his mother Ardella Grace Staats all of Morrow County; a brother Frank Staats of Phoenix AR; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Ed Little of Marion and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

His father, Russell L. Staats preceded him in death.

Gompf Funeral Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Velvet Ice Cream's Ye Olde Mill, Shelter house # 1, 11324 Mount Vernon Road (ST RT 13), Utica, OH 43080.

Wayne R. Keckler 08/03/2005

Wayne R. Keckler, age 65, of Glendale Street in Cardington died Wednesday evening, August 3, 2005 at Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead. He was born February 13, 1940 in Delaware, Ohio to the late George R. and Glenna M (Coleman) Keckler.

Wayne was 1959 graduate of Cardington High School and worked as an inspector at HPM in Mount Gilead for over 30 years.

Survivors include 2 sons, Michael W. Keckler of Cardington and Robert L. and Linda Keckler of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandchildren, Austin Keckler, Shara Zahn and Selena Houston; 3 great-grandchildren, Shalene Zahn, Jaylen Houston and Desmond Ducharme; a brother and his wife, Sandy and Beverly Keckler of Marion and a sister, Sandra Murphy of Edison.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ronald and Larry Keckler.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Friday, August 5, 2005 from 5-8PM where funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 10AM. Pastor Dennis Braun of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will follow in Glendale Union Cemetery in Cardington.
