Donna C. Duncan, 87, formerly of Van Wert died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.

Arrangements are pending at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.

Bruce Sandel
Died: Saturday, May 17, 2003
Age: 55

CONVOY - Bruce Sandel, 55, of Convoy died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his residence.

He was born April 3, 1948, in Mansfield, the son of Louise (Collins) Sandel of Van Wert and the late Robert Sandel. On March 8, 1976, he married Linda Greenway, who survives in Convoy.

Mr. Sandel, a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War era, was a surveyor.

Other survivors include:

Daughters - Heather Sandel of Van Wert, Nicole Wells of Statesboro, Ga., Kelly Sandel of Mansfield and Kim Wegal of Columbus

Son - Nathan Sandel of Statesboro

Brother - Dennis Sandel of Convoy

Sister - Linda Stoddard of Van Wert

Ten grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Michael W. Saylor officiating.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tracy Lee Peck
Died: Tuesday, August 05, 2003
Age: 47

CORNING, N.Y. — Tracy Lee Peck, 47, of Corning, formerly of Van Wert, presently of Greeneville, Tenn., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at her residence.

She was the daughter of Alfred Gleason of Corning and the late Louise Gleason. She married Jeffrey Peck, who survives.

Mrs. Peck was a nurse for many years in Van Wert before moving to Greeneville where she worked as a nurse at Takoma Adventist Hospital.

Survivors include:

Son — Jonathan Payne of Van Wert

Stepdaughter — Diana Peck of Bradenton, Fla.

Stepsons — Michael Peck of Bradenton, Stephen (Deanne) Peck of Raynham, Mass.

Sister — Nancy (Richard) Fratarcangelo of Corning

Brothers — John (Colleen) Gleason of Corning and Michael Gleason of Indian Trail, N.C.

Five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Carpenters Funeral Home, Corning. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning, the Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating.

Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Doughty Steven Funeral Home, Greeneville, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Carpenters Funeral Home.

Rolland I. Pratt
Died: Tuesday, August 05, 2003
Age: 81

Rolland I. Pratt, 81, of Van Wert died at 5:49 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Maumee, the son of the late Leroy "Roy" and Elsie (Brown) Pratt. His first wife, Evelyn (Runion) Pratt passed away Sept. 16, 1980. He married Doris Carlisle, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Pratt retired from Martin Marietta as a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was also an avid race fan and supporter of the Cleveland Browns.

Other survivors include three children, Deanna (Abraham) Snyder of Maryland, Rolland (Joan) Pratt of Oregon, Ohio, and Ted (Diane) Pratt of Fremont; stepchildren, Harold Webster of Columbus, and Charles Webster, Elizabeth (Bruce) Fleming and Jeffrey (Laura) Webster, all of Scott; three brothers, Joseph Pratt of Scott, Albert (Faith) Pratt of Oakwood and Paul Pratt of Florida; four sisters, Grace McCague of Oakwood, Eleanor Runion of Woodville, Alma (Roger) Rhoades of Grover Hill and Bonnie Gilford of Pioneer; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Edith Corn; three brothers, Jason, David and Delmar; four sisters, Edna, Alice, Ida and Norma, and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Rob Ratliff officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Westwood Cemetery, Woodville.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is the American Heart Association.

Anita M. Myers
Died: Tuesday, August 05, 2003
Age: 87

Anita M. Myers, 87, of Van Wert died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie G. (Edwards) McPike. On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Robert W. Myers, who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1998.

Mrs. Myers had worked at the former A & P Grocery Store in Van Wert for over 23 years. She was a graduate of Hoaglin  Jackson School and a member of the former Hyler Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star which merged with the Van Wert Chapter of OES. She enjoyed making wedding cakes, gardening and raising sheep.

Survivors include a son, Keith Myers of Van Wert.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is donor’s choice.

Helen Marie Renner Lewis
Died: Monday, August 04, 2003
Age: 81

GOMER — Helen Marie Renner Lewis, 81, of Gomer died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Shawnee Manor in Lima.

She was born July 16, 1922, in Putnam County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Jessie M. (Caskey) Renner. She married Richard E. Lewis, who preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Lewis retired from The Commercial Bank.

Survivors include:

Sons — Kyle (Sharon) Lewis of Lima and Lyle (Lynette) Lewis of Elida

Daughter — Carla (John) Olds of Lima

Sisters — Methel Benroth of Bluffton, Mary (David) Humphreys of Elida, Marjorie (Thomas) Bourne of Arizona and Norma (Lewis) Martz of Cairo

Brother — John H. Renner of Elida

Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Renner and Orman Renner.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gomer United Church of Christ, the Rev. Brian Knoderer and youth pastor Adam Lewis (Helen’s grandson) officiating. Burial will be in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements were handled by Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos.

Rosemary Oglesbee
Died: Monday, August 04, 2003
Age: 80

Rosemary Oglesbee, 80, of Van Wert died at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Edith (Dunlap) Webster. On May 4, 1942, she married William Emerson Oglesbee, who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2002.

Mrs. Oglesbee was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Roger D. (Mary) Oglesbee of Van Wert; one daughter, Mary Ann (Ivan) Rockwell of Traverse City, Mich.; two sisters, Geraldine Mengerink and Beatrice Trammel, both of Van Wert; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Oglesbee of Piqua; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William E. Oglesbee.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at King Cemetery, the Rev. Neil Hammons of Trinity Friends Church officiating.

Private family visitation is planned.

Arrangements were handled by Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert

Preferred memorial is donor’s choice.
