Margaret A. Krugh
Died: Wednesday, July 16, 2003
Age: 83

Margaret A. Krugh, 83, of Van Wert died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.

She was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Lewis McKinley and Christena Linora (Rauch) Bolton. On Feb. 26, 1966, she married Brice T. Krugh, who survives.

Mrs. Krugh retired in 1985 from nursing at Van Wert County Hospital. She also supervised nursing at a nursing home in St. Marys. A member of Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert, she was a graduate of York High School and had nurses training in Chillicothe and New York City.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jane A. (David H.) Maxfield of Lancaster County, Pa.; one son, Jim Kistler; a brother, Robert L. (Betty) Bolton of Venedocia; a sister, Ruth Bowsher of Spencerville; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Lewis Bolton, Edwin Richard Bolton and Paul Bolton, and a sister, Helen Virginia Bolton.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck of Calvary Evangelical Church officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery, Mendon.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Van Wert EMS, Gideons International or Channel 44 TV.

Mabel Etzler Foust
Died: Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Age: 95

Mabel Etzler Foust, 95, formerly of Convoy and Van Wert, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

She was born July 25, 1908, in Tully Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late John W. and Effie M. (Terry) Shutt. On Jan. 25, 1930, she married Carl H. Etzler, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1955. On Nov. 18, 1958, she married James E. Foust, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1974.

Mrs. Foust was a homemaker. A former member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy, she was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church since 1986.

Her son, Donald W. Etzler, died Jan. 27, 1994.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, LaDonna Etzler of Convoy; four grandchildren, Carl W. (Jean) Etzler of Ohio City, Shelly (Roger) Miller of Convoy, Douglas (Debbie) Linton of Sumter, S.C., and Philip (Kim) Linton of Ewing, Va.; two brothers, Donald W. Shutt of Convoy and Gaylord W. (Velma) Shutt of Van Wert; one stepson, Carl M. (Betty) Foust of rural Van Wert; three stepdaughters, Ruth Kimberlin of Sturgis, Mich., Eloise Rolsten of Convoy and Marilyn (William) McCracken of Van Wert; 12 great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lorene Oberlitner, and a sister, Charlotte F. Etzler, who died Aug. 28, 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy, the Rev. Janice A. Berthinee of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Convoy.

Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. today at Cowan & Son - Stainfield Memorial Home, Convoy, and an hour prior to service Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials are Christian Education Funds at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

Jack O. Now
Died: Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Age: 77

ROCKFORD — Jack O. Now, 77, of Rockford died at 5:12 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Springview Nursing Home, Lima.

He was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Mishawaka, Ind., the son of the late Jay and Thelma (Siler) Now. On May 30, 1953, he married Joann Hays, who preceded him in death on May 10, 1996.

Mr. Now retired from Shane Hill Nursing Home. He served in World War II.

Survivors include:

Daughters — Rozann (Bob) Maurer of Mercer, Anita (Dan) Edwards of Lima and Judy Now of Corona, Calif.

Brother — William Now of Rockford

Sister — Shirley Roebuck of Celina

Five grandchildren, Megan and Melanie Maurer and Andrew, Seth and Ryan Edwards, also survive.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Sweigart.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer United Methodist Church, Mercer, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Richard D. Feigh
Died: Tuesday, July 29, 2003
Age: 74

DELPHOS — Richard D. "Dick" Feigh, 74, of Delphos died at 7:38 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at SCCI in Lima

He was born July 16, 1929, in Lima, the son of the late Ralph Raymond and Florence Jeanette (Querry) Feigh. He married Ann Elizabeth Landau, who survives in Delphos.

Mr. Feigh retired from the former Lima State Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served as an MP.

Other survivors include:

Son — Steve (Janet) Feigh of Lima

Daughters — Susan (Steve) Heiling of Delphos and Sharon Feigh of Yucca Valley, Calif.

Brother — Ralph (Ruthie) Feigh of Lucerne, Calif.

Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos, with full military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.

Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where a Veterans of Foreign Wars service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lois Throop Johnson
Died: Monday, July 28, 2003
Age: 90

Lois Throop Johnson, 90, of rural Van Wert died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2003, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Schou, China, the daughter of the late Rev. Frank H. and Elsie (McKenzie) Throop. On July 17, 1943, she married James P. Johnson, who survives at the residence.

Mrs.  Johnson retired as a high school teacher at Ohio City-Liberty High School after 37 years teaching English, French and Latin. A 1930 graduate of Columbus Central High School, she had attended two years at the college of Wooster, graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts degree and did graduate work at Wright State University.

She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on its Women’s Association. She was a member of Van Wert County Hospital Twigs II and the Retired Teacher’s Association as well as a former member of the Hyler Chapter 432, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Elaine Johnson, who died Jan. 28, 1993, and three brothers, Dr. Harry Throop, Frank H. Throop and Glenn H. Throop.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Edward W. Jillson of First Presbyterian officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and an hour prior to service Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorial is First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert.

Gwendolyn Goedde
Died: Monday, July 28, 2003
Age: 73

LIMA — Gwendolyn "June" Goedde, 73, of Lima died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2003, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

She was born May 18, 1930, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Carl and Guila Mae (Fritz) Brown. She married Ralph W. Goedde, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1998.

Mrs. Goedde was a homemaker.

Survivors include:

Sons — Kenneth Goedde and Jerry Goedde, both of Lima, and Dennis (Brenda) Goedde of Cypress, Texas

Eight grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Goedde.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, the Rev. Ron Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
