Leroy L. Miles 07/20/2005

Leroy L. Miles, age 78, of Fairview Street, Marion, died early Wednesday morning, July 20, 2005 at his residence. He was born September 26, 1926 in Columbus to the late Walter and Mary (Robinson) Miles.

Leroy served with the US Army during World War II with the 8th Engineering Squadron and served in Japan for 3 years. He worked at HPM for 12 years and as a realtor at Smith-Crest Realty for 12 years.

In November 1989 he married Yvonne Martin Miles and she survives in Marion.

Additional survivors include a son, James Miles of New Salem, OH and a daughter, Karen Jaynes; 3 step-children, Max and Cathy Lowe, Dean Lowe, and Dwight and Michelle Lowe all of Marion; several grandchildren, including Heather, and step-grandchildren, Amanda, Christin, Amber, Michael, Brandy, Glenn, Brooks and Brittany; a sister Ruby Moore of Fredericktown and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Leroy was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Miles and his first wife, Phyllis (Estes) Miles.

Friends may call Friday, July 22, 2005 from Noon to 2PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where funeral services will be held at 2PM. Pastor Kenneth Wert will officiate and burial follow in Fulton Cemetery with full military honors.

Ruth L. Bayer 07/14/2005

Ruth L. Bayer, age 87, formerly of Mt. Gilead, died Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Sandpiper Courtyard in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Ruth had been a resident of Mt. Pleasant since 1996. She was born January 12, 1918 in Delaware County to the late Ira and Imo (Healea) Lawyer.

On June 11, 1938 she married William Bayer and he preceded her in death July 10, 1990.

Ruth was a 1935 graduate of Mount Gilead High School and attended 2 years of business school. Ruth retired in 1971 from Morrow Rural Electric Co-Op and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. During her retirement years Ruth lived in Kissimmee, FL and Okeechobee, FL. While in Okeechobee Ruth was an American Red Cross and Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Judith Bayer-Griffin and Frank Griffin of Georgetown, SC; a brother and sister in law, Robert and Betty Lawyer of Mount Gilead and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son Gary W. Bayer.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home on Sunday, July 17, 2005 from 12:30 to 1:30PM. Funeral services will follow immediately with Pastor Bruce Hartley of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

William P. Wilcox 07/11/2005

William P. Wilcox, age 52, of Fredericktown, OH died early Monday morning July 11, 2005 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby. He was born December 1, 1952 in Wharton, WV to the late Norman E. and Jewell I. (Castle) Wilcox.

William is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; and 10 great nieces and nephews; 1 sister and her husband, Joyce and Merton Watson of Fredericktown; and three brothers and their wives, Danny and Helena Wilcox of Fredericktown, David and Nona Wilcox of West Virginia and Gary and Vicki Wilcox of Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Wilcox.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington from 1-3PM. Funeral services will follow at 3PM. Burial will be in Family Memorial Garden, Madison, West Virginia.

Jaizlyn Juliavanna Muscari 07/10/2005

Jaizlyn Juliavanna Muscari, infant daughter of Amber J. Reed and Jason G. Muscari was stillborn July 10, 2005 at 4:47AM in Grady Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Jaizlyn is survived by Maternal grandparents Paris and Crystal Reed of Cardington and Jerry and Nancy Sargent of Mt. Gilead; paternal grandparents, Pete and Nora Muscari of Mt. Gilead and Gloria Giraro of Huston Texas ; great-grandparents Zelma Ferrell of Cardington, Edward Giraro of Cleveland, Jane White of Athens and Paris and Shirley Reed of Cardington; ten aunts Amy, Sara, Shawna, Carmon, Brandy, Daniel, Natasha, Leona, Ashley and Suzzane; seven uncles P.J., Jeff, Mike, Audie, Mitch, Brandon and Thomas; maternal great aunts and uncles John and Carla, Jannie and Gary, Randy and Nelva, Robert Jr., Sherry and Glenn, Regina and Steve, Kevin, Tom and Kathy, Delila and Don, Loran and Nora, Donna and Debbie and Pat and Shelia; paternal great aunts and uncles, Damon, Max, Joe, Tony, Jane, Joe, Judy, Pam, Jennifer, Sarah, Nina, Sam, John and Abraham; ten cousins and many other family members..

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Service in Cardington on Wednesday July 13, 2005 from 5-7PM. Services will be held immediately following with Jeff Bentz officiating.

Audrey L. Dornon, 07/05/2005

Audrey L. Dornon, age 74, of County Road 11, Cardington, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Woodside Village Care Center in Mt. Gilead. She was born in Greenwich, Ohio on June 24, 1931.

Audrey graduated from Floral City HS in Florida and attended Business Management School for 2 years. She was retired from Flexible Bus Company in Delaware and had previously worked at Cords and Cable in Iberia as a supervisor and at Waco in Cardington. Audrey was a member of Moose Lodge # 448; she loved playing bingo, her fish pond and flowers.

On February 12, 1951 in Fredericktown, OH she married Robert Dornon and he survives in Cardington.

Additional survivors include 2 sons, Robert Dornon and Russell and Debbie Dornon all of Cardington, a daughter, Joanna Beveridge of Cardington; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Dakota, and Zachary; a brother, Arthur Anderson of Wildwood, FL and two sisters, Alma Chaffee of Norwalk, OH and Delores Blunk of Martinsville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Belle Anderson, step-father, L. Anderson and a sister, Joanne Hartrum

Friends may call Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 6-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral service will be held Thursday, at 11AM. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Cleo R. Shaw 06/30/2005

Cleo R. Shaw, age 98, formerly of Cardington and Mt. Gilead, died Thursday morning June 30, 2005 at Newark Heathcare Centre in Newark. She was born near Cardington, on August 12, 1906 to the late Marion and Grace (Hickson) Howard.

On June 16, 1929, in Cardington she married Victor Shaw and he preceded her in death.

Throughout her lifetime Cleo was a member of the Cardington Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the church choir, she was a member of the Cardington Garden Club, and was active in the Key Ministries.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Janice and James Rengert of Newark; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Ann Rengert of Columbus, Dennis and Deborah Rengert of Marion and Cynthia and Joe Kacsandi of Sagamore Hills; 5 great-granddaughters and 2 step great-grandsons.

In addition to her parents Cleo was preceded in death by a sister Ilo VanHouten.

A graveside service will be held Saturday July 2, 2005 at 11AM in the Glendale Union Cemetery in Cardington. Gompf Funeral Service in Cardington is handling the arrangements. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Licking County, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055 or the Cardington Church of the Nazarene, 328 Water Street Cardington, Ohio 43315.
