Ernest E. Mosier
Died: Wednesday, April 23, 2003
Age: 84

Ernest E. Mosier, 84, of Van Wert died at 1:48 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born May 10, 1918, in  Jackson Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Lemuel and Myrtle (Dunlap) Mosier. On June 26, 1946, he married Ida M. Myers, who survives.

Mr. Mosier retired in 1981 after 35 years at Borden's Cheese Co. in Van Wert. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served in the European Theatre and British West Indies, he was associated with North Union United Methodist Church, Van Wert, and was a member of the Van Wert American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.

Other survivors include one son, Donald E. (Susan) Mosier of Convoy; four daughters, Paulette (Ron) Ross of Fort Wayne, Ind., Joan (Ron) Rank of Van Wert, Susan (Mike) McClure of Convoy and Connie (Mike) Hart of Scott; one brother, Lemuel (Carol) Mosier Jr. of Van Wert; three sisters, Margaret Clay, Frances Sherrick and Emmagene Anderson, all of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Rolland, Lawrence and Harold Mosier, and a sister, Berniece Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Revs. James Howell and Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, with services conducted by the Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are North Union United Methodist Church or Scott EMS.

Russell Eugene Bricker
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 79

CELINA - Russell Eugene "Gene" Bricker, 79, of Celina died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Lifecare Hospital, Miamisburg.

He was born Sept. 6, 1923, in North Findlay (Hancock County) the son of the late Ross R. and Lucy (Baucher) Bricker. On Aug. 8, 1947, he married Ruth Bauders, who survives at the residence.

Mr. Bricker retired in 1980 from Goodyear in St. Marys with 39 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army Engineers veteran of World War II, serving in Company B 831st Eng. AVN.BN.

Other survivors include:

Sons - Richard A. (Beth) Bricker of Celina and James E. (Connie) Bricker of Oxford

Sister - Marjorie Bricker of Mendon

Four grandchildren, Emily Bricker, Erin Bricker, Shon (Amy) Doseck and Christopher Doseck, also survive.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Bricker, a granddaughter, Heather Bricker, and an infant sister, Ruth Pauline Bricker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dr. Paul Bunnell of Hamilton-Bethel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery, Mendon.

Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roberta A. Wolfe
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 58

WILLSHIRE - Roberta A. "Bobbi" Wolfe, 58, of Willshire died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born June 8, 1944, in Decatur, Ind., the daughter of Ruth E. (Smitley) Wolfe of Willshire and the late Elmo L. Wolfe. On June 25, 1961, she married Gene R. Wolfe, who survives.

Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker.

Other survivors include:

Son - Todd A. Wolfe of Columbus Grove

Daughter - Cindi S. Wolfe of Willshire

Brother - David Wolfe of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Sister - Betty (Harry) Renbarger Jr. of Pennville, Ind.

Three grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. ( Ohio time) Saturday at Willshire United Brethren in Christ Church, Willshire, the Rev. Jody Harr officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery, Willshire.

Calling hours are 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. ( Ohio time) Friday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, Ind.

Ruth Pauline Prichard
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 86

MENDON - Ruth Pauline Prichard, 86, of Mendon died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.

She was born May 29, 1916, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Clement F. and Mary (Crowe) Brown. On Jan. 1, 1941, she married Edwin F. Prichard, who preceded her in death on May 7, 2000.

Mrs. Prichard was a homemaker.

A graduate of York High School, she was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church and the Celina Order of the Eastern Star, formerly Mendon. She served as a 4-H advisor for the York Duchess Club in Van Wert County, on the board of the Van Wert YWCA and was involved with the Friends of Mendon Library, serving as treasurer.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann (Rodney) Dudgeon of Venedocia and Sharon (Joseph) Snayd of Dallas, Texas, and two grandchildren, Wesley (Amanda) Dudgeon of Columbia, S.C., and Kathryn Dudgeon of Canton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Brown and a twin brother, Ralph Brown, and three sisters, Dorothy L. Gamble, Lorita L. Lynch and Lucille Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mendon Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. Paul Bunnell of Mendon United Methodist Church officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Preferred memorials are Mendon United Methodist Church or the M.S. Society.

Charles R. "Cy" Johnson
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 87

Charles R. "Cy" Johnson, 87, of Van Wert died at 5:33 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Lincolnway Nursing Home, Middle Point.

He was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Frank Clifford and E. Orah (Burgner) Johnson. On May 29, 1943, he married Virgil L. Shrider, who preceded him in death on July 21, 1985. In 1987, he married Betty Lou Linninger, who preceded him in death on July 1, 1999.

Mr.  Johnson was the former owner/operator of  Johnson & Medford Welding in Van Wert. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert and Van Wert American Legion Post 178. He was a 1935 graduate of Ridge High School.

Survivors include his stepsons, Bob, Tom and Jim Rhoades, all of Van Wert, and six stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Joe Wilck officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, with military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.

Calling hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is donor's choice.

Virginia E. Missler Kyle
Died: Tuesday, April 22, 2003
Age: 78

Virginia E. Missler Kyle, 78, of Van Wert died at 2:11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Virgil and Helen (Roop) Gamble. On April 8, 1944, she married Paul Missler, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1987. On April 15, 1989, she married Edwin Kyle, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1992.

Mrs. Kyle was a homemaker. A member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, she was also a member of Van Wert County Farm Bureau and the STIC Group of the church.

Survivors include her children, Kent Missler of Ohio City, David Missler of Convoy, Linda K. Missler of Lima and Kathleen (Richard) Kesler of Van Wert; two brothers, Robert (Carol) Gamble of Ohio City and Max (Linda) Gamble of Van Wert, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.

Preferred memorials are the American Diabetes. Association or Van Wert Manor Activities Fund.
