Raymond A. Wannemacher
Died: Monday, March 17, 2003
Age: 81

OTTOVILLE - Raymond A. Wannemacher, 81, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Putnam County, the son of the late Walter and Adeline (Schwertner) Wannemacher. On Nov. 22, 1956, he married Mildred R. Siefker, who preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1993.

Mr. Wannemacher was owner and operator of Ray Wannemacher Construction for over 50 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville and its Holy Name Society, the Lions Club, and was a past member of the Ottoville Village Council and past council president.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph R. Wannemacher and William "Bill" (Suzanne) Wannemacher, both of Ottoville; one daughter, Judy M. Wannemacher of Ottoville; a sister, Mildred (Arnold) Luersman of Delphos, and three grandchildren, Tara Wannemacher, Adria Wannemacher and Eric Wannemacher, all of Ottoville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ludwin Wannemacher and Richard Wannemacher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, the Rev. Tony Borgia officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ottoville.

Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Ottoville, where a parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Preferred memorials are St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery or Ottoville EMS.

Gwendolyn H. Knodel
Died: Sunday, March 16, 2003
Age: 90

Gwendolyn H. Knodel, 90, of Van Wert died at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Convoy Care Center, Convoy.

She was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Daniel and Winnie (Snyder) Jerome. On July 11, 1933, she married William Dale "Whitie" Knodel, who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1982.

Mrs. Knodel had worked at the Montgomery Ward store in Van Wert and retired from Van Wert High School cafeteria after 17 years. She was a 1930 graduate of Van Wert High School and a lifetime member of the Wesley United Methodist church and church choir.

Survivors include two sons, William Richard "Dick" (Judy) Knodel and Michael L. (Linda) Knodel, both of Van Wert; two daughters, Shirley (Robert A.) Young and Debra Knodel, both of Van Wert; two brothers, Graydon Jerome of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Dan Jerome of Van Wert; one sister, Kay (Rex) Rodman of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Louise Stemen of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Kathy Neal, Timothy Young, Brad Knodel, Tanya Carlton, Ryan Knodel, Heidi Arney and J.J. Knodel; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Linda Young; four brothers, Richard, Robert, Maynard and James Jerome; a foster brother, Paul Mason, and one sister, Catherine G. Roth.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Douglas Stockton officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Preferred memorial is Wesley United Methodist Church.

Herbert D. Martin
Died: Sunday, March 16, 2003
Age: 92

MONROEVILLE, Ind. - Herbert D. Martin, 92, a resident of the Monroeville area for most of his life, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center following a two month illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Monroeville Church of the Nazarene, the Revs. Milton Wilson and Dale B. Worcester officiating. Burial will be in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, and one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church.

Mary Alice Drake
Died: Friday, March 14, 2003
Age: 89

MENDON - Mary Alice Drake, 89, formerly of Mendon, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina, Celina.

She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Mercer County, the daughter of the late Earl O. and Chloe B. (Andrews) Poor. On April 11, 1937, she married Joseph B. Drake, who preceded her in death on July 28, 1985.

Mrs. Drake was a homemaker.

Survivors include:

Son - Joseph H. (Carolyn Ann) Drake of Celina

Daughter - Marjorie A. (Larry W.) Fetters of Celina

Brother - Robert (Becky) Poor of Elwood, Ind.

Sister - Miriam Poor of Silver Springs, Fla.

Two granddaughters, Tess (Gary) Glass and Debora (Steve) Shaffer, both of Lima, and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Blacketer and Eric Alwine, both of Celina, also survive.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven E. Drake, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2003; five brothers, Lowell, Russell, Donald and Byron Poor and Everett Poor in infancy, and seven sisters, Janice McCallister, Irene Duker, Emma Schierholdt, Anna C. Poor, Betty Lormor, Pauline Brookhart and Dorothy Clyde Poor in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Bruce Strine of Celina First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Marcia L. Gamble
Died: Friday, March 14, 2003
Age: 71

Marcia L. Gamble, 71, of Van Wert died at 4 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Mrs. Gamble had worked at Federal Mogul/National Seal Corp. in Van Wert for almost 43 years.

Survivors include:

Children -- Rusty (Linda) Gamble, Tina (Tom) Wannemacher and Toni Collins, all of Van Wert

Six grandsons and five granddaughters also survive.

There will be no visitation or services. A private family burial will be held.

Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.

Glendora M. Glendora M. Baer
Died: Friday, March 14, 2003
Age: 82

Glendora M. Baer, 82, of Convoy, formerly of Toledo, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at Convoy Care Center, Convoy.

She was born July 15, 1920, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Glenn Baer and Annetta E. (Upp) Baer.

Miss Baer had attended the former Union School in Van Wert County.

Survivors include three brothers, Robert D. (JoAnne) Baer of Van Wert, and Donald K. (Judy) Baer and Charles E. (Linda) Baer, both of Convoy; five sisters, Juanita Black of Convoy, Betty (Milo) Wyandt and Bonnie (Earl) Speelman, both of Van Wert, NaDonna (Ralph) Schumm of Bluffton, Ind., and Jeannette Smith of Bronson, Mich, one sister-in-law, Harriet J. Baer of Van Wert, and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl D. Baer and Walter E. Baer, one sister, Anna Kathryn Rase, and a half sister, Vera Nortley

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.

Visitation will be held at Brickner Funeral Home from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions are to donor's choice.

Georgia Victoria Mason
Died: Friday, March 14, 2003
Age: 89

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Georgia Victoria Mason, 89, of Fort Wayne died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, at Whitley County Memorial Hospital, Columbia City, Ind.

She was born May 24, 1913, in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Walter Jacob and Gladys Mae (Hart) Fronefield. On Nov. 27, 1937, in Pleasant Mills, Ind., she married Charles R. Mason, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1968.

Mrs. Mason retired from Federal Mogul, Van Wert, in 1969 with 25 years of service.

She was active in the Over Fifty Club of First Assembly of God Church, Fort Wayne, and had attended Middle Point School. She enjoyed flower gardening and quilting.

Survivors include two sons, Robert J. (Colleen) Mason of Glendale, Ariz., and C. Richard (Janet) Mason of Frankfort, Ind.; two daughters, Della Mae McClain of Crowley, Texas, and Marjorie Louise (Larry) Knafel of Columbia City, Ind.; one brother, H. Gene (Marjorie) Fronefield of Ohio City; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Van Jack Fronefield and Walter John Fronefield, and four sisters, Dorothy Fronefield, Helen Irene Cox, N. Louise Breese and Marjorie Crisenberry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Bob Monroe of First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery, Union Township, Mercer County.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William H. King
Died: Wednesday, March 26, 2003
Age: 75

William H. King, 75, of Celina, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at St. Marys Living Center, St. Marys.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys, with graveside military rites conducted by the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Harriet R. Bell
Died: Tuesday, March 25, 2003
Age: 92

Harriet R. Bell, 92, of rural Van Wert died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

She was born March 21, 1911, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late James L. and Ocee Pearl (Boucher) Shively. On Oct. 8, 1932, she married Wilbert H. Bell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1986.

Mrs. Bell was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress for the John Earl Co. and the Marsh Foundation, both in Van Wert. A member of the Antioch Chapel Church in Van Wert County, she served on the Van Wert County Hospital Lady Board of Managers, was a former 4-H advisor and Sunday School teacher and a former member of the Crestview Farm Wives and Ladies Aid of the church.

Survivors include her children, Jim (Alice) Bell and Carol (Dick) Baxter, both of Van Wert, Alice (Bob) Lake of Grover Hill and Jadine (Ed) Conn of Ohio City; one sister, Margaret DeCamp of Convoy; 23 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Bell and Mabel Bell, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Vancrest Activities Fund.
