Pauline Lynch
Died: Friday, March 7, 2003
Age: 79

Pauline Lynch, 79, of Van Wert died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of the late Harvey and Shirley (Robinson) Simpson. On Sept. 9, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla., she married Oscar L. Lynch, who survives.

Mrs. Lynch worked as a production employee for Federal Mogul in Van Wert for 35 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Van Wert.

Other survivors include three sons, Larry E. (Joyce) Lynch of Van Wert and Robert D. (Niema) Lynch and Dr. John (Ann) Saylor, both of Columbus; three brothers, James (Barbara) Simpson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Charles Simpson of Van Wert and Harvey (Georgia) Simpson Jr. of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; two sisters, Billie (Dale) Merriss and Jackie DeBolt, both of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. today at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, and an hour prior to service Tuesday at the church.

Preferred memorials are First Baptist Church or Community Health Professionals Hospice program.

Donna Lynn (Stocklin) James
Died: Friday, March 7, 2003
Age: 46

Donna Lynn (Stocklin) James, 46, of Van Wert died Friday morning, March 7, 2003, at 602 N. Race St., Van Wert.

She was born March 13, 1956, in Lima, the daughter of Dorothy (Barker) Stocklin-Webb of Lima and the late Donald Stocklin. She married Joseph James.

Mrs. James was a homemaker.

Other survivors include one daughter, Jill Burnett of Delphos; four stepdaughters, Shannon James and Nikki James, both of Lima, Lily James of Convoy and Kenya James of Van Wert; one sister-in-law, Roslyn Howard; a brother-in-law, Dwight Howard; a half brother-in-law, Kenny Sullivan; her stepfather, Robert Webb of Lima, and five grandsons, Elliot Ainsworth, Robert Ainsworth, Nicholas Hammond, David Parsons and Tristen Parsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Deal.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Darryl Ramey officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery, Haviland.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are the family.

R. SYRACUSE
Died: Friday, March 7, 2003

SYRACUSE, Ind. -- Catharine R. Burger, 87, of Syracuse, formerly of Delphos, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at Millers Merry Manor in Syracuse.

She was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Otto and Leone (Wulfhorst) Stallkamp. On June 12, 1940, she married Hubert J. Burger, who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1985.

Mrs. Burger worked for both Roth's Meat Market and for the Dairy Whip. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and its Altar Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Beth) Burger of Hampden, Mass.; one daughter, Betty A. (Thomas) Plew of North Webster, Ind.; a sister, Rita (Elmer) Scherger of Delphos, and six grandsons, Craig Burger of Springfield, Mass., Kevin Burger of Boston, Mass., Todd Burger of New Bedford, Mass., Scott Schafler of North Webster, Ehren Plew and Cameron Plew, both of Valparaiso, Ind.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret VonLehmden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Preferred memorial is St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and School, Delphos.

Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Delphos, is in charge of handling arrangements.

PAULDING - Delbert "Del" F F. Baxter
Died: Thursday, March 6, 2003
Age: 84

PAULDING - Delbert "Del" F. Baxter, 84, died at noon Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance.

He was born April 1, 1918, in Latty, the son of the late William Floyd and Emma M. (Driefke) Baxter. On Sept. 29, 1946, he married Edythe F. Yoder, who survives.

Mr. Baxter, a 1936 graduate of Latty High School, was a farmer for 25 years and was employed as an industrial engineer at Grizzly Manufacturing, Paulding, retiring in 1980 after 29 years. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a second lieutenant and B-24 bomber pilot. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Briceton, Gideons International and John Paulding Historical Society.

Other survivors include one son, William (Julie) Baxter of North Manchester, Ind.; a daughter, Ruth Ann (James) Covey of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Christopher, Amy and Rebecca Covey and Lauren and Megan Baxter, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Covey.

He was preceded in death by infant twin sisters, Edith and Edna Baxter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Briceton, the Rev. Joseph Allen officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding, with military graveside services by Paulding Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 587.

Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8-9 a.m. Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Gideon's International or John Paulding Historical Society.

FINDLAY - Tracy Ruhlin-Githens
Died: Thursday, March 6, 2003
Age: 45

FINDLAY - Tracy Ruhlin-Githens, 45, of Findlay died at 2:31 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.

She was born May 8, 1957, in Van Wert, the daughter of Robert D. Ruhlin and Winifred R. (Schaadt) Ruhlin, who survive. On March 17, 1984, at Miami University, Oxford, she married Gregory D. Githens, who survives in Findlay.

Mrs. Ruhlin-Githens had formerly been an adjunct faculty member in the School of Art at the University of Findlay and held a similar position at Bowling Green State University for approximately 10 years. She had been very active and held offices in various art guilds and associations on the local, state and national levels. She had formerly attended Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, Ind.

Calling hours are 2:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Ohio Designer Craftsmen of Columbus, OH, Art Museum at Miami University in Oxford or the Art Gallery of Bowling Green State University.

MENDON - Tennyson Royce "Tenny" Strawn
Died: Thursday, March 6, 2003
Age: 65

MENDON - Tennyson Royce "Tenny" Strawn, 65, of Mendon died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Fla.

He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Rockford, the son of the late Harley Edward and Erma Evelyn (Harb) Strawn. On Aug. 21, 1955, he married Margaret Kline, who survives.

Mr. Strawn retired in 1999 from Chapman's Body Shop, Celina, and attended Mendon Church of God.

Other survivors include two sons, Dennis (Betty) Strawn of Celina and John (Denise) Strawn of Mendon; three daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Zumberge and Rhonda (Mick) Stose, both of Celina, and Christina (John) Sutter of Fort Recovery; one brother, Dean Strawn of Wabash, Ohio; a cousin, Ilo McGlauglin of Celina; 13 grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Hines, Heather Zumberge, Jackie Zumberge, Brooke Zumberge, Jeremy Strawn, Katie Strawn, Kellie Strawn, Megan Stose, Trisha Strawn, Brittany Strawn, Cassandra Sutter, Jonathan Sutter and Jake Sutter, and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hines, Austin Hines and Adan Hines.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dean Strawn, who died Oct. 3, 1968.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Dean Bruce of Mendon Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Williamina D. Scott
Died: Wednesday, March 5, 2003
Age: 88

Williamina D. Scott, 88, of Van Wert died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

She was born June 18, 1914, in Medford, Mass., the daughter of the late William D. and Harriet May (Smith) Ledes. On Aug. 21, 1934, she married Franklin D. Scott, who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1962.

While living in Chicago, Mrs. Scott had been employed by Monogram Mfg. (Matel). In Van Wert she had been an employee of Van Wert Mfg. and retired from Teleflex.

Survivors include one son, Franklin D. (Jerry A.) Scott Jr. of Spencer, Iowa; a daughter, Margaret (William I.) Pontius of Van Wert; two brothers, William Ledes of Belvedere, N.J., and George Ledes of Middlesex, N.J.; a sister, Isabelle Wakefield of Dundee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Huminski.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Lockhaven, Pa., at a later date.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 2-5 and 6-8.

Preferred memorial is Alzheimer's Unit of Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

PAULDING - Mary Elizabeth Weimer
Died: Tuesday, November 26, 2002
Age: 87

PAULDING - Mary Elizabeth Weimer, 87, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Dallas Lamb Foundation, Payne.

She was born Sept. 29, 1915, in Paulding, the daughter of the late George and Elsie (Moore) Weimer.

She was a laborer at Grizzly Manufacturing.

Surviving are nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Ben, John, Frank and Clark Weimer, and three sisters, Agnes Daniels, Helen Rife and Eva Mae Faust.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding.

Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
