DELPHOS - Gilbert A. "Gip" Wehri
Died: Monday, November 25, 2002
Age: 78

DELPHOS - Gilbert A. "Gip" Wehri, 78, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born June 20, 1924, in Kalida, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Miller) Wehri.

On Sept. 12, 1953, he married Velma Hugel, who survives in Delphos.

Mr. Wehri retired after 33 years at Fruehauf and worked for many years part time at Royster Clark.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving from 1944-46 in the European Theater, Operation Germany.

Other survivors include:

Son - Dennis (Janice) Wehri of Edgerton

Daughters - Janet (Gene) Siefker and Bonnie (Paul) Merschman, both of Delphos, Louise (Rick) Westbay of Fryburg, Elaine (Bob) Wehri of Fort Jennings and Diane "Turtle" (Brian) Eickholt of Ottoville

Sisters -Margaret Dickman, Lucille Schroeder and Joanie (Dick) Selmet, all of Ottawa, Rosie Clementz of Kalida, Leona (Gerald) Youngpeter of Fort Jennings, Mary Ann (Bob) Kaple and Jean (Nub) Boecker, both of Ottoville, and Agnes Ulm of Delphos

Brothers - Clete (Dolores) Wehri and Hubert (Joyce) Wehri, both of Kalida

Brother-in-law - Richard Hugel

Twenty grandchildren, two stepgreat-granddaughters and one great-grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Luella Wehri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church cemetery with military burial rite conducted by Delphos Veterans Council.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a rosary service is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday followed by a parish wake service at 8 p.m.

Milferd L Gilgenbach
Died: Saturday, November 23, 2002
Age: 75

Milferd L. Gilgenbach, 75, of rural Van Wert, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima.

He was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Henry County, the son of the late Phillip Gilgenbach and the late Agnes (Limbaugh) Gilgenbach. On Aug. 17, 1949, he married Betty (Selhorst) Gilgenbach, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Gilgenbach was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. He was a past director of Federal Land Bank/Ag Credit, at Scott Equity Exchange, a trustee for Hoaglin Township for 14 years, a member of Lincolnview Athletic Booster Club, the VFW Post 8847 in New Bavaria and VFW Post 2873 in Grover Hill.

Other survivors include six daughters, Karen (John) Saxton of Oakwood, Connie Jo (Jerome) Niese of New Bavaria, Sandy (Greg) Miller of Lima, Dianne (Denny) Byrne, Cindy (Arnie) Miller and Lisa (Al) Osting all of Van Wert; a sister, Lucille Johnston of Continental; two brothers, Robert Gilgenbach of New Bavaria and Gerald Gilgenbach of Toledo; nineteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cecelia, Kathleen and Geraldine; three brothers Clarence, Chester and his twin Wilferd; a son-in-law, Butch Giesige; a grandaughter, Lyndsey Byrne and a great-grandaugher, Langdyn Wannamacher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Joseph M. Schmelzer officiating.

Calling hours will be from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. A Parish Rosary will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Lincolnview track & field fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

DELPHOS -Theresa Alspaugh
Died: Friday, November 22, 2002
Age: 88

DELPHOS -Theresa Alspaugh, 88, of Delphos, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born June 29, 1914 in Delphos, the daughter of Ben and Anna (Klausing) Bracker. In Sept. of 1939, she married Milford W. Alspaugh, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Alspaugh worked as an office assistant at Alspaugh's Body Shop.

Survivors include:

Sons - Ron (Jan) Alspaugh of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Denny (Linda) Alspaugh of Duniden, Fla.

Brother - George Braker of Lima

Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos. A C.L.C. service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Geraldine "Gerry" E Fox
Died: Friday, November 22, 2002
Age: 79

Geraldine "Gerry" E. Fox, 79, of Elida, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 18, 1923 in Malinta, the daughter of the late Henry and Verda Beck Kinder. On May 17, 1944, she married Adelbert E. Fox, who survives.

Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and worked for the Elida Election Board for 25 years. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and the Smart Club at the church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling and caravan camping. She was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy.

Other survivors include two sons, Thomas E. (Melba) Fox of San Obispo, Calif. and Paul D. (Georgia) Fox of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Pamela J. (Dennis) Boss of Lima; a sister, Henrietta Kinder Oakes of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren, Craig Long, Paul M. Fox, Cindy Dick, Dawn M. Fox, Nancy Burrell, Corina Wreede, Charlene Holycross and Steve Johnston; and 10 great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Long, Kayla Dick, Erica Dick, Elizabeth Burrell, Kaitlin Wreede, Zackery Holycross, Travis Holycross, Ryan Johnston, Austin Johnston and Magan Johnston.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Raymond Kinder, a sister, Donna Kinder Fransted and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel, the Rev. Howard Allison officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Elida. military rites are by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1275. Friends can call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church and St. Rita's Hospice.

Marvin L Foster
Died: Thursday, November 21, 2002
Age: 57

Marvin L. Foster, 57, of Van Wert, died at 3:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.

He was born April 25, 1945 in Rockford, the son of the late Ralph Albert Foster and the late Betty Catherine (Case) Foster. On June 27, 1965, he married Pamela A. (Hoverman) Foster, who survives.

Mr. Foster retired from Aeroquip (Eaton) Corporation in May of 2000 with 33 years of service. He was a 1963 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended the First Baptist Church of Van Wert. He was also an avid fisherman.

Other survivors include two daughters, Tracy Lynn (Nathan) McClellan of Van Wert and Nicole Renee (Randall) Evans of Elsworth AFB, S.D.; a brother, James M. Foster of Van Wert; two sisters, Helen (Jerry) Roberts of Convoy and Lori A. (Richard) Stollsteimer of Van Wert; and mother-in-law, Pat Hoverman of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. John A. Rager officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour ahead of service at the church. military graveside services by Harvey Lewis Post 346, American Legion, Ohio City.

Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes. Association or Gideon's International.

DELPHOS - Mary Lou Rekart
Died: Thursday, November 21, 2002
Age: 75

DELPHOS - Mary Lou Rekart, 75, of Delphos, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927 in Delphos, the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Boley) Best. On Oct. 26, 1946, she married William G Rekart, who survives.

Mrs. Rekart was a homemaker.

Other survivors include:

Sons - Dr. Michael (Josephine) Rekart of Vancouver, British Columbia, Patrick W. Rekart of Bangkok, Thailand, Richard T. Rekart of Houston, Texas, Thomas K (Jennifer) Rekart of Delphos and Paul E. Rekart of Cincinnatti

Daughter - Mary F. (Michael) LeValley

Nine grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a son Mathew J. Rekart.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Delphos with Father Thomas Gorman officiating. A wake service will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Roger M Whitcraft
Died: Thursday, November 21, 2002
Age: 71

Roger M. Whitcraft, 71, of 6 Coldbrook Drive, died at 6:13 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Born March 23, 1931, in Van Wert, Ohio, he moved from Ohio in 1964. He married Patricia J. Webb on April 28, 1979, in Lafayette, and she survives.

Mr. Whitcraft served in the Navy from Jan. 3, 1951, to Nov. 4, 1954, during the Korean War. He worked at Lafayette Instrument for 28 years, retiring in 1994. For the past eight years he had worked part time at Steiner Enterprise.

Mr. Whitcraft was a member of American Legion Post 11 and a past member of the Cloud Jockeys. His hobbies were woodworking, building model ships and remote control aircraft.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Tina Thelen (husband: David) of West Lafayette and Dianna Whitcraft of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Lisa Vester (husband: Richard) and Cynthia Prien (husband: Kevin), both of Lafayette; a brother, Richard Whitcraft (wife: Gloria) of Van Wert, Ohio; and two sisters, LaRita  Jones (husband: Rick) of Louisville, Ky., and Donna Stuckey (husband: Ron) of Van Wert. Five grandchildren, Shane Polley, Dana Childress, Derek Childress, Shelley Vester and Matt Vester also survive.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Funeral Home in Lafayette, the Rev. Daniel May officiating. Memorials are to the donor's choice. Burial is in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
