Age: 37

Dawn Renee Brown Endicott, 37, of Van Wert died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born April 29, 1965, in Lima, the daughter of Charles Edgar "Ed" Lewis of Van Wert and Judith A. (Jenkins) Lewis of Bluffton. On Sept. 17, 2001, she married Michael Lee Endicott, who survives.

Mrs. Endicott, a 1983 graduate of Van Wert High School, was employed at Van Wert County Hospital and Studio A. Salon, Van Wert.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jordan Brown and Haley Brown, both of Van Wert; one brother, Bret (Melissa) Lewis of Van Wert, and her grandmother, Katherine Jenkins of Van Wert.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Donald Clinger of Bluffton Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery in Washington Township.

Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Lupus Foundation or the children.

NAPOLEON - Larry L. Etzler
Died: Wednesday, February 26, 2003
Age: 65

NAPOLEON - Larry L. Etzler, 65, of Napoleon died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 26, 2003, at Toledo Hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, the Revs. Norman Koy and Peter Marcis officiating.

Calling hours are 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements were handled by Snyder Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Robert J Davis
Died: Tuesday, February 25, 2003
Age: 74

Robert J. Davis, 74, of Van Wert died at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at his residence.

He was born April 10, 1928, in Willshire Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Ira G. and Cora E. (Handwerk) Davis. On Dec. 24, 1949, he married Patricia M. Flanagan.

Mr. Davis, a 1947 graduate of Van Wert High School, retired from Continental Can Co. (Greif Bros.) in 1983. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Robert G. Longwell Post 5803, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Van Wert as well as a life member of Elks Lodge 1197, Van Wert.

Survivors include one son, Richard B. (Ronda) Davis of Van Wert; four daughters, Roberta J. (Dennis) Myers of Washington, Mo., Rebecca (Bob) Proffitt and Rhonda Krick, both of Van Wert, and Regina (Ken) Draper of Kenton; five sisters, Mrs. Janet Crosley, Mrs. Marion Winters, Mrs. Betty Miller and Mrs. Helen Wahmhoff, all of Van Wert, and Mrs. Annabelle Landrum of Grover Hill; 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Christian Davis and Richard Guy Davis, and two sisters, Dorothy Jean Sickmiller and Margaret Ellinger.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military services conducted by combined VFW and American Legion unit.

Visitation will be private.

Preferred memorial is Community Health Professionals - Hospice.

Arrangements were handled by Cowan & Son Funeral Home.

Rosalie J. Gamble
Died: Tuesday, February 25, 2003
Age: 75

Rosalie J. Gamble, 75, of Versailles, formerly of Van Wert, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles.

She was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Harry E. And Dora O. (Whitcraft) Adams. On April 7, 1947, she married Richard M. Gamble, who preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1992.

Mrs. Gamble retired as assistant vice president for Peoples Band & Trust, Van Wert. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert Woman's Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Circle of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, all in Van Wert.

Survivors include two sons, Dana (Cassie) Gamble of Chillicothe and Gary (Candy) Gamble of Greenville; one brother, Harry (Pat) Adams of Three Rivers, Mich.; six grandchildren, Justin, Taryn, Adam, Michelle Gamble and Krystal and April Kreitzer, and a great-grandchild, Maddie Gamble.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Joe Wilck officiating. Burial. will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 12:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is the church.

PAULDING - Marie Lenore Neal
Died: Tuesday, February 25, 2003
Age: 81

PAULDING - Marie Lenore Neal, 81, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Hawthorn Court Nursing Home, Paulding.

She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Lucas County, the daughter of the late Brant and Edna (Pittman) Barfell. She was formerly married to Clyde "Mike" Williamson, who preceded her in death in 1981. She married Kermit L. Neal, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1986.

Mrs. Neal was formerly employed at Meijers, Fort Wayne, Ind., retiring in 2002.

Survivors include:

Sons - James (Claudine) Williamson of Greenup, Ky., Jerry (Connie) Williamson and Steve Williamson, both of Paulding

Daughter - Cindy Lee Williamson of Antwerp

Twelve grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by one son, Pert; a daughter, Kathryn Fisher; four brothers; a sister, and one granddaughter, Kimberly Bennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Marguerite Thurman Pennell
Died: Tuesday, February 25, 2003
Age: 91

Marguerite Thurman Pennell, 91, of Van Wert died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home.

She was born June 12, 1911, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Noble Elvis and Josephine (Keltner) Thurman. On Aug. 20, 1936, she married Laurence E. Pennell, who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1984.

Mrs. Pennell retired in 1976 from Van Wert City Schools as a sixth grade teacher at Anthony Wayne and Franklin Elementary schools. She had also taught at Marsh Foundation and Van Wert County Schools. A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert, she was a charter member of the Van Wert County Historical Society, had an avid interest in Ohio history and genealogy and had attended Miami University.

Survivors include one son, Laurence E. (Robin) Pennell of Van Wert; a daughter, Margaret Ann Greene of Harpswell, Maine, and five grandchildren, Chad Greene, Jennifer, Erin and John Mackel, and Lauren Elizabeth Pennell.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen "Molly" Pennell Mackel, and a grandson, William Mackel.

Graveside services will be held at 3:15 p.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, the Rev. Joe Wilck officiating.

Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.

CONVOY - Lola A. Gibson
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 92

CONVOY - Lola A. Gibson, 92, of Convoy, formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Convoy Care Center, Convoy.

She was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Wabash County, Ind., the daughter of the late Edwin H. and Electa E. (Curless) White .

Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker.

Survivors include:

Sons - Edwin William (Jean) Gibson of Convoy and Gary Lee (Jayne) Gibson of Bluffton, Ind.

Brother - Edwin H. (Patricia) White of Sebring, Fla.

Sister - Joanna J. (Roger) Ranck of LaFontaine, Ind.

Seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Convoy, the Rev. Jan Berthinee officiating. Burial will be in Matlock Cemetery, rural Wabash, Ind.

There will be no visitation.

Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, is in charge of services.

ANTWERP - Betty L. Humbarger
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 83

ANTWERP - Betty L. Humbarger, 83, of Antwerp died at 8:50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance.

She was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Antwerp, the daughter of the late Harry and Delia (Peffley) Friend. On March 29, 1939, she married Wayne Humbarger, who survives in Antwerp.

Mrs. Humbarger was a tester for 25 years at Dana Weatherhead, Antwerp. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America.

Other survivors include two sons, Ted Humbarger of Van Wert and Lynn Humbarger of Antwerp; three brothers, Willis Friend, Richard Friend and Jim Friend, all of Antwerp; one sister, Janet DeLong of Antwerp; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Derwood Friend, Robert Friend, Budd Friend and Williard Friend, and a sister, Clarice Friend.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, the Rev. Jim Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.

Calling hours 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are First Baptist Church of Antwerp or Brookview Healthcare Center Activity Fund.
