Died: Friday, September 27, 2002
TULSA, Okla. -- Larry Dean Prine Sr., 67, of Tulsa, formerly of Delphos, died at 10:38 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
He was born April 29, 1935, in Delphos, the son of the late Clifford and Nora (Stopher) Prine of Delphos. He married Mary E. Milroy, who survives in Tulsa.
Mr. Prine was a retired independent truck driver.
Other survivors include:
Sons -- Larry Jr., Ralph, Dennis, Rodney and Eddie
Daughters -- Patty and Ginny
Sisters -- Margaret and Norma
Brothers -- Robert, William and Jack
Twenty-four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herschel, Richard and Melvin, and two sisters, Lorraine and Twilla.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, the Rev. Glenn Prine officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
MENDON - George J Yocum
Died: Friday, September 27, 2002
Age: 84
MENDON - George J. Yocum, 84, of Mendon died at 4:16 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday.
He was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Rockford, the son of the late Merl and Hazel (Stover) Yocum. He married Donna Marie Anderson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1988.
Mr. Yocum, a farmer, retired from Avco New Idea.
Survivors include:
Sons - Forest (Lynda) Yocum of Canal Winchester, Gene (Angela) Yocum of Spencerville and Dean (Marilyn) Yocum of Marysville
Sisters - Doris Piper and Lucille Reed, both of Rockford
Six grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Christian Church of Rockford, the Rev. Kenneth Whetstone officiating. Burial will be in the New Horizons Church (Stringtown) Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and an hour prior to service time Monday at the church.
Linda Lou Fyffe
Died: Thursday, September 26, 2002
Age: 52
Linda Lou Fyffe, 52, of Van Wert, formerly of Forest Hill, Calif., died at 5:17 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at her Van Wert residence.
She was born Jan. 22, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of Betty (Purk) Brown of Van Wert and the late Robert Thimler. She was adopted by the late John W. Keller. She married Larry Fyffe, who survives in Forest Hill.
Mrs. Fyffe was a homemaker.

Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.

Linda Lou Fyffe

Linda Lou Fyffe, 52, of Van Wert, formerly of Forest Hill, Calif., died at 5:17 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at her residence.

CELINA - Clarence P Art
Died: Wednesday, September 25, 2002
Age: 93
CELINA - Clarence P. Art, 93, of Celina died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at The Gardens at Celina.
He was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Cincinnati, the son of the late John Bernard and Anna (Winkeljohn) Art.
On July 19, 1932, he married Emma Lee Pulskamp, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2001.
Mr. Art had worked as a letter carrier for 36 years for the Celina Post Office.
Survivors include:
Sons - Bernard (Jocelyn) Art of New Bremen and Kenneth E. Art of Celina
Daughters - Rosmarie (Jerry) Amato and Patricia Hoyng, both of Celina, Dorothy Lee (Jerry) Backus of Delphos, Kathleen (Charles) Gorsuch of Hendersonville, N.C., and Georgiann (William) Nungester of Spencerville
Twenty-three grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Art.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
BLANCHESTER - Alexander J Grogg

BLANCHESTER - Alexander J. Grogg, newborn, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 25, 2002, at Clinton Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, the son of James A. and Jenny (Vogt) Grogg of Blanchester, formerly of Delphos.

Paternal grandparents - Judie and Jerry Grogg of Delphos
Maternal grandparents - Anita and Larry Topp of Delphos
He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, John Vogt.
Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday at Walnut Grove Cemetery, the Rev. McNellan Nicholson officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements were handled by Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos.
R. Jack Lininger
Died: Friday, November 30, 2001
Age: 75
R. Jack Lininger, 75, of 2945 Albright Commons, Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away at 1:30 a.m. August 30, 2002, in Marietta, Georgia, after an extended illness. He was a Methodist.
He was born June 27, 1927, in Van Wert, Ohio. He was the second son of the late Ray and Helen (Siple) Lininger. On January 31, 1948 he married Laura Morris of Venedocia, Ohio, who survives in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Jack attended Van Wert High School from 1941-45 and participated on Gil Smith's Cougar Football team. He was recruited by Ohio State University and played both offensive center and defensive linebacker for the Buckeyes. Jack was drafted into the U.S. Army during this time, where he served as a Sergeant at Ft. Lewis, Washington . He continued to play football while he was enlisted from January 1946-February 1947. Jack returned to Ohio State to finish his collegiate career and earned four Varsity letters and a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting. Before graduating, Jack was named to the Omicron chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an Accounting Honorary Society. Jack also earned AP All-American Team honors and All-Big Ten Center in 1949. His team, under Wes Fesler, traveled to the January 2, 1950 Rose Bowl where the Buckeyes defeated previously unbeaten California 17-14. Jack was voted "Most Valuable Player" by his teammates for that game. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and played linebacker and center positions alongside Doak Walker and Bobby Lane in 1950 and 1951.
Jack retired from pro-football and worked for 13 years at Suburban Motor Freight in Columbus, Dayton, and Ft. Wayne. In 1964, he went to work for Aeroquip Corporation-Industrial Division in Jackson, Mich., where he retired as Marketing Manager of Cargo Control in 1983.
During his career, Jack held many memberships including President of the National Piggyback (Railroad) Association, Officer of the Exchange Club, member of the Elk Club, and lifelong member of the Varsity "O" at Ohio Stale.
Jack retired to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in 1983 where he was an avid golfer. He served as President of the Sawgrass-Oakbridge Club Mens Golf Association as well as President of the Tournament Players Club Homeowners Association. Jack also enjoyed working as a ranger at the PGA Tournament Players Club. In 1999, as his disease progressed, Jack moved to Kennesaw, Ga., to be near family.
Jack is also survived by three daughters, Christa J. (Paul) Schofield of Williamston, Michigan, Mary Ellen (Robert) Lenhart of Cordova, Tennessee, and Jackie S. (David) Floyd of Marietta, Georgia. Brothers Richard Lininger and Roger Lininger preceded him in death. He is survived by sister-in-law, Phyllis Lininger and his brother Robert (Janet) Lininger, all of Van Wert, Ohio. His seven surviving grandchildren are Michael G. Schofield of Ann Arbor, Michigan., Jill H. Schofield of Williamston, Michigan, Robert E. Lenhart of Cordova, Tennessee, Spec. Andrew W. Lenhart, U.S. Army-Germany, Jack E. Lenhart of Cordova, Tennessee, Laura E. Floyd and Nicholas H. Floyd of Marietta, Georgia. Jack is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on October 5th at the First United Methodist Church of Van Wert, Ohio. The Rev. James Dunaway will be officiating. A private family burial will be held following the service at Woodland Cemetery. Burial arrangements are by Brickner Funeral Home.
