BLUFFTON - Gladys L Youtsey
Died: Friday, December 27, 2002
Age: 70

BLUFFTON - Gladys L. Youtsey, 70, of Bluffton died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 10, 1932, in Antwerp, the daughter of the late Garner Charles and Golda Pearl (Jordan) Peffley. On June 6, 1964, she married Myron J. Youtsey, who survives.

Mrs. Youtsey retired from Triplett Corp., Bluffton.

Other survivors include:

Son - Scott A. Youtsey of Findlay

Daughters - Diane Overmyer of Antwerp and Jacqueline A. Youtsey, Tia Hart, Tammy Judy and Myra McQuistion, all of Bluffton

Brother - Bernard Peffley of Hicksville

Sister - Beatrice Leins of Waterloo, Ind.

Twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ivan and Leonard Youtsey; six brothers, George Peffley, Ted Peffley, Ken Peffley, Clarence Peffley, Charles Peffley Jr. and Richard William Peffley; two sisters, Eileen Foreman and Christine Rickard, and a grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clymer Cemetery, near Mt. Cory, the Rev. Gary Marks officiating.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.

COLUMBUS
Died: Wednesday, December 25, 2002

COLUMBUS, Ind. - Helen H. Rowell, 88, of Columbus, Ind., died at 7;25 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at the Columbus Regional Hospital emergency room.

She was born June 3, 1914, at Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late Scott P. and Inez (Odaffer) Hilliard. On June 29, 1940, in renssalaer, Ind., she married John W. Rowell, who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel, the Revs. Evelyn Brown and Ruth Billington officiating. Burial and graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with the Rev. J. Carter Hiestand officiating.

Calling hours are 9-10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Four Seasons Chapel.

Craig H Eggleston
Died: Wednesday, December 25, 2002
Age: 54

Craig H. Eggleston, 54, of Van Wert died Wednesday morning, Dec. 25, 2002, at his residence.

He was born April 5, 1948, in Marietta, the son of the late Arther G. and Helen H. (Hewson) Eggleston. On June 8, 2002, he married Francesca L. Healy, who survives.

Mr. Eggleston was the owner of Craig's Custom Touch, Van Wert. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was past president and current member of Wetzel Motorcycle Club, National Rifle Association and a member of Van Wert American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars posts.

Other survivors include one son, Craig Heath Eggleston of Van Wert; a daughter, Hollie (Jason) Phillips of Van Wert; two brothers, Scot Eggleston of Decatur, Ind., and David Eggleston of Marietta; three sisters, Harla (Don) Gardner and Jo (Tom) Buchman, both of Marietta, and Beth Araiza of Decatur, Ga., and four grandchildren, Noah Eggleston, Kole, Kaine and Karter Phillips.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Eggleston

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home. military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is the family.

NEW HAVEN
Died: Wednesday, December 25, 2002

NEW HAVEN, Ind. - Frank Mattice, 80, of New Haven died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 20, 1922, in Bad Ax, Mich. He married Melly Mattice, who survives in New Haven.

Mr. Mattice was a farmer and a truck driver for Western Auto for 17 1/2 years, retiring in 1975. He also was a yard person of Hall Lumber in Convoy for 26 years, retiring in 2002.

Other survivors include:

Son - Daniel L. Mattice of Columbia City, Ind.

Daughter - Debra Mattice of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Sister - Eldora Richardson of Sebring, Fla.

Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, New Haven. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven.

Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

DELPHOS - Dorothy A Hayes
Died: Wednesday, December 25, 2002
Age: 88

DELPHOS - Dorothy A. Hayes, 88, of Maumee, formerly of Delphos died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Ridgewood Manor.

She was born April 6, 1914, in Mt. Clemens, Mich., the daughter of the late John W. and Elizabeth (LaPage) Mertz. On June 15, 1941, she married D.E. Gene Hayes, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker.

Survivors include:

Son - Richard E. Hayes of Roswell, Ga.

Daughters - Karen (Dennis) Daly of Toledo and Cathy (Randall) Szalkowski of Maumee

Sisters - Margaret Earl and Mary Ann (Nelson) VenDeVille, both of Kalamazoo, Mich.

Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Alm of Port Richey, Fla.

A memorial services will be held at West Gate Chapel in Toledo at a later date. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at a later date.

Kenneth E. White
Died: Wednesday, March 26, 2003
Age: 85

Kenneth E. White, 85, died at 1:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born July 3, 1917, in Springfield, the son of the late Henry Val and Louvisa (Setty) White . On Nov. 15, 1949, he married Louise Ann Johnson, who preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 1987.

Mr. White, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, was employed by B&O Railroad as a conductor and was also a medical technologist at Paulding Hospital, Paulding, retiring in 1980 after 22 years.

Survivors include:

Sons -- Doug (Pam) White of Bryan, Brett White of Paulding, and Dr. Kenneth White of Lima

Daughters -- Jeanene Aukerman of Fairborn and Jackie Miller of Columbus

Sisters -- Bernice Wellbaum Frey and Berneta Offenbacher, both of Lima

Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Herbert, Cecil, Herschel, Wallace, Ralph, Phillip, Howard and Kermit.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Paulding.

Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-9 pm. today and 8 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Harriet R. Bell
Died: Tuesday, March 25, 2003
Age: 92

Harriet R. Bell, 92, of rural Van Wert died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

She was born March 21, 1911, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late James L. and Ocee Pearl (Boucher) Shively. On Oct. 8, 1932, she married Wilbert H. Bell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1986.

Mrs. Bell was a homemaker and also worked as a seamstress for the John Earl Co. and the Marsh Foundation, both in Van Wert. A member of the Antioch Chapel Church in Van Wert County, she served on the Van Wert County Hospital Lady Board of Managers, was a former 4-H advisor and Sunday School teacher and a former member of the Crestview Farm Wives and Ladies Aid of the church.

Survivors include her children, Jim (Alice) Bell and Carol (Dick) Baxter, both of Van Wert, Alice (Bob) Lake of Grover Hill and Jadine (Ed) Conn of Ohio City; one sister, Margaret DeCamp of Convoy; 23 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Bell and Mabel Bell, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. James Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Vancrest Activities Fund.
