CELINA - Arthur Cecil Dull

CELINA -- Arthur Cecil Dull, 90, of Celina died at 7:20 a.m. ( Ohio time) Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at The Laurels of Shane Hill.
He was born Jan. 24, 1912, in Van Wert County, Glenmore, the son of the late Benjamin N. and Florence B. Johnson Dull.
Mr. Dull retired in 1976 from National Seal, Van Wert, with 11 years of service, a former salesman at McConnell's in Decatur, Ind., with 13 years of service and former employee of GE in Decatur with four years of service.
He was affiliated with St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, and Van Wert Eagles Aerie 886.
Survivors include two sons, Roger W. Dall of Carol Stream, Ill., and Charles W. Dull of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; two nieces, Pauline (Richard) Strickler of Celina and Joanna Stoops-Foreman of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Timothy Dull, Peter Dull, Andrew Dull, Rex Dall and Chris Dall, and six great-grandchildren, Jordan Dull, Sam Dull, Cuyler Dull, Conner Dall, Matthew Dall and Madeline Dall.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Mildred McConkey, Beatrice Ocie Crabill, Eileen Reed, Anna Chilcote, Ercie McConnell and Minnie Brown.
Funeral services will be held at noon (Indiana time) Saturday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Greenbrier Cemetery, rural Ohio City.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to service time (Indiana time) Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Laurels of Shane Hill.
DELPHOS - Gene Best
Died: Monday, September 9, 2002
Age: 69
DELPHOS -- Gene Best, 69, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Delphos, the son of the late Frank and Vera (Holde) Best.
On April 4, 1955, he married Kay MacWhinney, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Best was general foreman at Fruehauf and also sold AFLAC Insurance in more recent years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Two grandchildren, Justin Harris and Jayden Harris, also survive.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Best, and three sisters, Evelyn Jones, Helen Bible and Phyllis Kettler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harter and Son Funeral Home, Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.

Treva B. Witherow Yoh
Died: Monday, September 9, 2002
Age: 85
Treva B. Witherow Yoh, 85, of Van Wert died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at Lincolnway Nursing Home, Van Wert.
She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Adam and Maude (Oliver) Alt. She married Cary Witherow, who preceded her in death in 1970. She married Joshua Yoh, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Yoh retired in 1981 from Mersman Manufacturing in Celina. She had also worked at Continental Can and National Seal, both in Van Wert. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Van Wert.
Survivors include three sons, Cary (Sarah) Witherow of Warrenton, Va., Robert (Portia) Witherow and Carl (Jill) Witherow, both of Van Wert; a daughter, Verona (Terry) Eikenbary of Van Wert; six stepchildren, Gregg Yoh, Penny Yoh and Vivian (Ric) Beebe, all of Defiance, Jay (Jennifer) Yoh and Kenneth Yoh, both of Van Wert, and Connie Lange of Celina; one brother, Adrian (Norma) Alt of North Carolina; two sisters, Clela (Cletus) Stoephel of Van Wert and Gloria (Everett) Hanefeld of Continental; eight grandchildren; 22 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Sue Peters; four brothers, John, Orville, Lorin and Bevan Alt, and two sisters, Ada Alt and Mabel Dickey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Doug Stockton officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Alzheimers Association.
Robert W Zinn
Died: Monday, September 9, 2002
Age: 73
Robert W. Zinn, 73, of Van Wert died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
He was born June 10, 1929, in Van Wert, the son of the late Edwin and Margaret (Wallace) Zinn. On June 17, 1950, in Convoy, he married Joan M. McNamara, who survives.
Mr. Zinn retired in 1989 after 32 years as a salesman/owner of Pollock's Furniture Store in Van Wert.
He was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church in Van Wert County and the former Pleasant Grange for over 50 years.
Other survivors include one son, Randy (Barbara) Zinn of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter, Julie Zinn of Van Wert; one sister, Martha Jean (Robert) Lybarger of Van Wert, and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Laura and Alex Zinn, all of Bloomington.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Richard Birk officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elsa Malkin Brenner
Died: Sunday, September 8, 2002
Age: 71
Elsa Malkin Brenner, 71, the daughter of Morris and Sara Magidson Malkin, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
A graduate of The Rayan School and Youngstown College, Mrs. Brenner was a registered medical technologist.
She was a fine pianist and performed at the Butler Gallery of American Art and at meetings of the Youngstown Monday Musical Society.
Mrs. Brenner leaves her husband, Paul T. Brenner, her children, Cheryl Torsney and husband Eric Hansmann of Morgantown, W.Va., and Jeffrey Stambor and wife, Lisa Shepard Stambor, of Calistoga, Calif.; her grandchildren, Benjamin and Edward Torsney, both of Morgantown, and Kaela and Lucie Stambor, both of Calistoga; her beloved sister, Charlotte Malkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and stepchildren and stepgrandchildren of her current marriage.

Lenore A Kennedy
Died: Sunday, September 8, 2002
Age: 93
Lenore A. Kennedy, 93, of Van Wert died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late William T. and Sylvia (Terry) Hoeken. In November 1929, in Van Wert, she married Merl L. "Tim" Kennedy, who preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1984.
Mrs. Kennedy taught junior high school in Van Wert for almost 30 years. A member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert for over 80 years, she was active in Van Wert County Historical Society for many years. She was a member of Van Wert Woman's Club, had taught knitting to the 4-H Club for many years, was a member of Van Wert Chapter of DAR and had been active in many various community organizations over the years.
Survivors include one son, Michael L. (Madeline) Kennedy of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, William L. Hoeken of Van Wert; one grandson, Robert P. (Brenda) Kennedy of Bronson, Mich.; three great-grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Kennedy of Grand Rapids, Mich., Charity (Marko) Smith and Lacy Kennedy, both of Van Wert, and two great-great-grandchildren, Gavin and Paige Smith of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a infant daughter, Ann Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Van Wert County Historical Society or the church.
MONROEVILLE
Died: Sunday, September 8, 2002
MONROEVILLE, Ind. -- Robert H. Schrader, 51, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of the late Samuel L. and Lucille Y. Schrader. His wife, Linda, survives in Monroeville.
He was a machinist with Chrysler, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of UAW Local 685 and American Legion Post 420.
