LIMA - Carl L. "Kelly" Losh
Died: Monday, December 23, 2002
Age: 91
LIMA - Carl L. "Kelly" Losh, 91, died at 1:26 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Hardin County, the son of the late Harry N. and Bertha (Pugh) Losh. On Sept. 27, 1937, he married Wilda M. Jervis, who survives.
Mr. Losh was a retired driver with Duff Truck Lines & Commercial Motor Freight. He was a member of FOE 370 of Lima, a charter member since 1937 of Teamsters Union 908, Teamsters Retiree Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards (euchre and pinochle).
Other survivors include two sons, Joe E. (Mona) Losh of Elida and Thomas E. (Twyla) Losh of Ohio City; one daughter, Linda L. (Darrell) Clay of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren, Joey, Kelly, Darrell, Jim, Chris, Tommy and Bryan, and three stepgrandchildren, Kevin, Keith and Kent.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence "Happy" Losh and a sister, Bernice "Bea" Buckley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel, the Rev. Doug Adams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are the American Red Cross or Gideons.
CELINA - Marcella (Sally Vining
Died: Sunday, December 22, 2002
Age: 89
CELINA - Marcella (Sally) Vining, 89, of Celina died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born May 24, 1913, in Monroe, Ind., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Agnes (Longenberger) Carver.
On June 10, 1936, she married James Vining, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1986.
Mrs. Vining was homemaker.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Nila (Carl) Swander of Rockford
Brother - Clair Carver of Monroe
Two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Vining, one grandson, Darrick, and two sisters, Betty Carver and Pauline Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, the Rev. Donald Ramsey officiating.
Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery, Willshire.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina, and after 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
ELIDA - Norman E Mayer
Died: Saturday, December 21, 2002
Age: 80
ELIDA - Norman E. Mayer, 80, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center.
He was born March 6, 1922, in Lima, the son of the late Howard and Edith (Jones) Mayer. On May 3, 1947, he married Alice Mox, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Mayer was a farmer. He also worked as a machinist and supervisor at Ford for 25 years until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as Tech 3 in Ordinance.

Daughter - Katherine (Steve) Brekhus of Florida
Brother - Aurther G. Mayer of Florida
Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos, the Rev. William Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are an hour prior to services today at the church.
Arrangements were handled by Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos.
CELINA - Mark "Shark" Staugler
Died: Sunday, October 20, 2002
Age: 44
CELINA - Mark "Shark" Staugler, 44, of Celina died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Celina Manor, Celina, following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 3, 1957, in Celina, the son of Mildred (Brinegar) Staugler and the late Leo Staugler.
Mr. Staugler worked at Huffy Bicycle Plant, Celina, then was a commercial truck driver for Conrad Trucking, Van Wert.

Sisters - Mary Dirksen of Celina and Pat Bruggeman of Carson, Calif.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Lehman Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Nancy Louise Williams Coons
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 60
Nancy Louise Williams Coons, 60, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in Magnolia, Texas .
She was born May 16, 1942, in Van Wert. Her husband Larry survives in Magnolia.

Son - Alan Ryan Coons of Torrance, Calif.

Mother-in-law - Peggy White of Paulding
Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Klein Funeral Chapel, Tomball, Texas .
CONVOY - Ralph E Harting
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 76
CONVOY - Ralph E. Harting, 76, of rural Convoy died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
He was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Van Wert County, the son of the late William E. and M. May (Klinger) Harting.
Mr. Harting, a U.S. Army veteran who served in occupied Japan, was a lifetime farmer in Tully Township, Van Wert County.
Survivors include four brothers, Lawrence (Charlotte) Harting and Gene (Marsha) Harting, both of Van Wert, and Gerald Harting and Roger (Mary) Harting, both of Convoy; one sister, Grace Burley of Convoy, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Delmer Harting, and a sister, Olive Harting, who died at birth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, the Rev. Greg Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Convoy.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Convoy EMS or donor's choice.
LIMA - Josephine D Merkner
Died: Saturday, October 19, 2002
Age: 93
LIMA - Josephine D. Merkner, 93, of Lima, formerly of Chicago Ridge, Ill., died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Lima Health and Rehab.
She was born Oct. 23, 1908, in Liverpool, England, the daughter of the late Thomas and Susannah (Cunningham) Duncanson.
On Nov. 22, 1930, she married Oscar F. Merkner, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1985.
Mrs. Merkner worked with the safety deposit boxes in a bank in Chicago, Ill.
Survivors include:
Son - Lawrence (Helen) Merkner of New Carlisle, Ind.
Daughter - Judy (Robert) Wojtas of Elida
Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Letty, Loretta and Zillah, and a brother Harry Duncanson.
Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date in Chicago.
