Jack R. Brown

Jack R. Brown, 84 of Massillon, formerly of Zanesville, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2003 at Meadow Wind Care Center, Massillon. He was born June 1, 1918 at Zanesville, a son of the late Floran & Clara Schneider Brown. He retired in 1977 at Brockway Glass as an operator. He was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles, and United Comercial Travelers.

Surviving are daughter, Judy ( James ) Buchanan of Massillon, brother, Harold Brown of Solon, two grandchildren, James J. ( Lori ) Buchanan of Fostoria, Sherry L. ( Forrest ) Sunkle of Massillon, two great grandchildren, Chancelor & Cameron Sunkle both of Massillon, special nephew Ralph Brown of Mt. Vernon and several nieces & nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Brown, who died February 28, 1995, three brothers, Charles, Edgar and Donald Brown.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and from 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2003 till service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bolin Funeral Home with Rev. Tom England officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Florence I. Bowen

Florence Irene Bowen, 83, of Westlake, Ohio formerly of Zanesville, Ohio died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2003 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in Westlake. She was born June 4, 1919 in Newcomerstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles W. & Helen E. Neighbor Hartman. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Zanesville.

Surviving are one son, John A. ( Candace) Bowen of Lakewood, Ohio, four grandchildren, Jennifer Bowen, Corey Bowen, Jeff Bowen and John David Perkins, sister-in-law, Mabel Hartman of Cambridge, Ohio.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Bowen, two brothers, Gene Hartman and Bernard L. Hartman

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2003. Burial will follow at East State Street Cemetery, Newcomerstown, Ohio.

Daniel L. Irvin

Daniel L. Irvin, 44 of Gaysport, died at 12:00 noon Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at his home.He was born November 24, 1958 at Zanesville a son of Verona Jean Argo Irvin of Gaysport and the late William E. Irvin Sr. He was a custodian for Zanesville City Schools and a bus driver.

Surviving are his mother, Verona Jean Irvin, daughter, Jessica M. Irvin, three sons, Justin D., Joseph L. & Jeffrey A. Irvin all of the home; sister, Marilyn ( Glenn ) Romine of Zanesville, three brothers; William E. Irvin Jr., Richard W. ( Marilyn ) Irvin both of Zanesville and Timothy J. Irvin of the home, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Irvin Sr. who died April 18, 1990

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Zanesville. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with arrangements.

Hazel L. Russi

Hazel Lucille Russi, age 88, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 at Mark Rest Center, McConnelsville, Ohio. She was born November 22, 1914 in Zanesville the daughter of the late Earl G. and Osie R. Fogle Painter. Mrs. Russi served as secretary at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church for thirty years, served as the organist at the former Ridge Ave. United Presbyterian Church for twenty two years and later became the organist at the Immanuel United Church of Christ.Mrs. Russi was the organist at Bolin Funeral Home for thirty four years. She was a member of the Coburn United Methodist Church where she played for the Men's Bible Class for many years and also attended the Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Carl Dean) Rector of Zanesville, and Kay (Thomas) Bottomley of Hilton Head Island, S. C., six grandchildren, Michael (Barb) Vagnier, Tim Vagnier, Todd Carolyn) Vagnier, Wendy (Pat) Archer and Brad (Lisa) Rector and Robin (Matt) Powell, eleven great grandchildren, a sister in-law Dorothy Painter of Zanesville, and a special niece Ann Carr of Zanesville and including other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph L. Russi (Oct. 12, 1989), two brothers, Robert W. Painter and Russell F. Painter and a Great Grandson, Jeremiah Binkley (7/1/1999)

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville Ohio. Funeral services will be held at Bolin Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 30, 2003 with the Rev. John Earhart officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park

Karen S. Gallagher

Karen S. Gallagher, 54, of Zanesville died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at her home. She was born December 12. 1948 in Zanesville a daughter of the late Walter N. & Betty Parsons Reed.

Surviving are two sons, Charles T. Gallagher and Robert Gallagher both of Zanesville; two sisters, Dianna ( Charles ) Lichiello and Kim ( Doug ) Wilson both of Zanesville; brother, Daniel Martha ) Reed of Zanesville.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Gallagher, who died April 24, 1997

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Graveside services will be held at11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lowell, Ohio with Rev. John Earhart officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice.

Leanna M. Beers
Leanna M. Beers, 77, of Adamsville died at 9:54 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born March 8, 1926 at Adamsville a daughter of the late O. Bruce & Mabel Cogsil Vinsel. She was a homemaker, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and had taught music lessons in her home and for Mike Ward Music and C.A. House.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen S. ( Charles ) Young, son William L. Beers both of Adamsville, Five grandchildren, Charles ( Angie ) Young, Christopher ( Mary ) Young, Marcus Young, William Lee Beers, and Leann ( Greg ) Batross, nine great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clay E. Beers, who died November 27, 1987, two sisters, Ombra Radcliffe and Louise Vinsel.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 with Pastor Steve Rude officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery, Adamsville.

Helen L. Fraunfelter

Helen L. Fraunfelter, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 7:34 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Genesis Bethesda Hospital. She was born July 5, 1917 in Steubenville, Ohio the daughter of the late William P. and Edna Mae Arthurs Conner. Mrs. Fraunfelter was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and retired 1987 as a saleslady at the J. C. Penny Co.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lou (Samuel) Gantz of Cardington,Oh., Carol S. Tolson of Zanesville, and Beverly K. Mills of Zanesville, sister Marjorie Hendershot of Weirton,WV., seven grandchildren, Jeffrey R. (Beth) Gantz, Lori Lyn (Russ) Clapper, Kelli J. (Scott) Wohlgamuth, Kip A. (Connie) Bauer, Kimberly S. McGuire, Lisa K. (Mark) Nader and Troy A. Mills, eleven great grandchildren, Courtney and Sheena Bateman, Justin Gantz, Andrew and Jennifer Wohlgamuth, Madison McGuire, MacKenzie Mason,Mitchell Nader, Brady and Gavyn Mills

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John H. Fraunfelter, who died September 25, 1984, by two sisters, Grace E. Moore and Virginia West, brother James P. Conner, two sons in-law, Rev. Richard Tolson and Jeffrey L. Mills.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard R. Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church,40 north 6th St., Zanesville, Ohio

Floyd Grandstaff

Floyd A. Grandstaff, 86, of Zanesville, died at 9:40 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born September 11, 1916 at Zanesville a son of the late Albert & Velma Burr Grandstaff. He retired from The Ohio Department Of Transportation as a truck driver. He was a member of the Woodlawn Church Of Christ, VFW George Selsam Post 1058, D.A.V. and was a World War II Army Veteran where he served from October 7, 1942 to November 9, 1945. While in the Army he served in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe and he received four bronze stars.

Surviving are his loving wife, Virginia M. Spinks Boise Grandstaff, whom he married May 9, 1982 of the home; sister, Bonnie Collins of Zanesville and adopted granddaughter, Brook McFee of Byesville.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Frazier.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m Thursday, may 22, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday with Evangelist Rod Stockdale officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military rites at the grave.

Patricia L. Waltman

Patricia L. Waltman, age 76, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 7:50 p.m. Friday May 16, 2003 at her residence. She was born September 8, 1926, in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Glenn and Alta Young Farquhar. Mrs. Waltman was a member of the Market St. Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Crusader's Sunday School Class, a member of the Sarah Circle, a member of the Zanesville Country Club, a member of the Bethesda Guild and a avid golfer and card player.

Surviving are two sons, Rev. Stephen R. (Ann) Waltman of Worthington, Oh. and Douglas A. (Jean) Waltman of Zanesville, one sister, Janice (Frank) Straight of Phoenix AZ., five grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Joseph, Stephen II, and Jonathan, and a sister in-law, Isabele.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty three years, Ralph E. Waltman, who died August 6, 1990, one brother Ralph Farquhar and a brother in-law Donald Waltman.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Monday,May 19, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, and one hour prior to service time at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Market St. Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Market St Baptist Church, 140 N. 6th St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Justin Paul Hershberger

Justin Paul Hershberger age 22, of Nashport, Ohio, died at 11:p.m. Monday, May 12, 2003 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born July 20, 1980 in Zanesville, the son of Susann Pfeifer Hershberger and the late Fred W. Hershberger. Mr. Hershberger was a food stocker at Pick'NSave. He was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School and attended Ohio State University.

Surviving are his mother, Susann Hershberger of the home, one sister Shala (Scott) Rossiter of ElCajon CA., three brothers, Matt Hershberger of Zanesville, Aaron (Kristy) Hershberger of Cincinnati, Oh.,and Nathan Hershberger of Columbus, Oh.,maternal grandmother, Jean Pfeifer of Stow Oh., and one nephew, Kyle Rossiter of ElCajon CA.
