Reva Brill Wallace

Reva Brill Wallace, age 93, of 1854 Norwood Blvd., died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday April 17, 2003 at the Helen Purcell Home. She was born April 17, 1910 in Quaker City, Ohio the daughter of the late Ferman and Odessa Householder Brill. Mrs. Wallace was a Presbyterian by faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley (William) Sprout of Circleville, Ohio, four grandchildren, Susan (Ken) Vincent and James Sprout, both of Cincinnati Oh., Peggy (Jeff) Stutz of Mansfield Oh. and Patty (Roger) Hinton of Carmel Ind., several nieces & nephews including a special niece Nevadel Young of Zanesville.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard W. Wallace,who died January 18, 1977, a daughter Frances Odgen, grandson William Randal Sprout, sisters, Frieda Miller,Velva Miller,Verna Blackstone, Helen Power, and brother Herbert Brill.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003 at Zanesville Memorial Park with the Rev. John Edwards officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville is entrusted with arrangements.

C. Norman Sheets

C. Norman Sheets, 85 of Zanesville died at 6:25p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 at his home. He was born September 29, 1917 at Lost Creek, WV. a son of the late Melvelle B. & Hallie Doyle Sheets. He retired from Central Ohio Coal Company as a Heavy Equipment Operator, member of the United Mine Workers Union, Member of Local 1604, he was a World War II Marine Veteran serving in the South Pacific.

Surviving are two daughters, Sanna Lowe of Columbus & Connie ( Robert ) Gossman of Crooksville, one son, Norman " Spike" ( Amanda) Sheets of Zanesville, six grandsons, Slade ( Dawn ) Lowe of Groveport, James ( Kristen ) Lowe of Carroll, Joseph Lowe of Columbus, Eric ( Stephanie ) Fusner of Crooksville, Scott Sheets and Mark Sheets both of Zanesville; two great grandchildren Kirsten Fusner & Caden Lowe.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Hosler Sheets who died September 24, 1992.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. till service time Saturday at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Tim Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or to Genesis Hospice.

Evelyn May Long Hawkins
Evelyn May Long Hawkins, 83 of Zanesville died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at her home. She was born May 19, 1919 in Cumberland, a daughter of the late Ivan Edgar & Edna May Wilson Long.She was a Homecare Provider and a Presbyterian by faith.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Alberta Susan Mason of Zanesville, three grandchildren, Buddy Joe Ritterbeck Jr, Jodee Lynne Ritterbeck & Jeremee Lee Ritterbeck, Three great grandchildren, Solomon Rogers, Correy Stewart Jr., & Alisha Sue Ritterbeck, one brother, Edgar ( Eloise ) Long of Zanesville and many nieces & nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bertrand Albert Hawkins who died in 1977.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 and from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville were services will be held at 1:00 Saturday, April 19, 2003 with Rev. William Loy officiating. Burial will follow at Adamsville Baptist Cemetery, Adamsville.

Donald L. Bridwell
Donald L. ( Whizzer) Bridwell, age 60, 0f Zanesville, Ohio, died at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born June 2, 1942, in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late Lewis W. and Lorna Weber Bridwell. Mr. Bridwell was a professional entertainer, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Dianne Smitley Bridwell, whom he married October 19, 1996, of the home, one son Donald McClellan of Columbus, Ohio, one step daughter, Lisa Talley of Zanesville, two step sons, Bret Talley of Cinncinatti, Ohio, and Tim (Tracy) Talley of Zanesville, one sister Sue (Gene) Shaggs of Groveport, and one step granddaughter, Tristin Talley.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Zanesville, and from 11:00 a.m. till service time at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at the North Terrace Church of Christ on Bowers Lane with Mr. Bill Meaige officiating. A caring cremation will follow the service with burial to follow at St Paul Cemetery at a later date.

Ralph L. Bogard
Ralph L. Bogard, age 77 of Zanesville died at 4:55 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born December 21, 1925 at Muskingum County, a son of the late Jay W. & Elsie S. Slyder Bogard. He retired after 27 1/2 years of service as a policeman for the City of Zanesville. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, former member of Coburn United Methodist Church for 27 years, member of the Couples Class, World War II Army Veteran, member of the D.A.V., Lifetime member of the Clint Kramer Chapter, Fraternal Order of Police, Zanesville Barber Shoppers, & Zane Trail Kampers.

Surviving are his wife, Mary L. James Bogard, whom he married February 24, 1947 of the home, one daughter, Sally Bogard of Zanesville, three sons, John L. ( Karen) Bogard of Zanesville, Gary L. ( Cheryl ) Bogard of Mansfield, & Thomas L. Bogard of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Esther Wilson and Eleanor Eveland both of Zanesville, Bonnie Cooper of Newark; five grandchildren, Angela, Robert Scott, Leonard, Steven, & Richard; eight great grandchildren, Ashli, Christopher, Angie, Steven, Damien, Jesse, David Wayne, & Kaitlynn.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janette and one brother Charles.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. service time at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Coburn United Methodist Church with Rev. Doris Flynn. officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park. VFW George Selsam Post 1058 will hold military rites at the grave.

Lulu Smith Nowell
Lulu May Smith Nowell, age 94, of Zanesville, Ohio,died at 3:15 am Saturday April 12, 2003 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home. She was born February 23, 1909, in Madison Twp.,Perry County, the daughter of the late Charles Austin and Martha Augusta Koehler Crossan. She was a retired head checker at the Krogers Co.,a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 52.

Surviving are a son, C. W. Smith of Zanesville, three grandchildren, Marla K. Freeman of Mansfield, OH, Kerry (Jeanna) Smith of Crystal River, FL.,and Denise (Paul) Allen Jr. of Zanesville,three great grandchildren, Kyle(Angie) Freeman of Shelby Oh.,Natalie Allen and Ryan Allen,both of Zanesville,two great great grand daughters of Shelby Oh.,two step daughters, Eileen Herring of Mansfield Oh.,and Maxine Mc Cormick of Zanesville, four step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, and twelve step great great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence B. Smith (1966),her second husband Harry Nowell (1973), and a daughter in-law Marjorie A. Smith (2002)

No calling hours will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave. Zanesville, Oh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Presbyteriuan Church.

William ( Bill) Burns, Jr.

William ( Bill) Burns, Jr., age 68, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 8:00 p.m. Saturday April 5, 2003 at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital. He was born November 9, 1934, in Zanesville the son of the late William and Matilda Krouskoupf Burns Sr. Mr. Burns was a member of the Central Trinity United Methodist Church and retired in shipping at the Armco Steel Corp.Bill was an avid fudge maker (known as the candy man) and he enjoyed sharing his fudge with his friends in the community.

Surviving are his wife, Connie K. Carter Burns of the home, two daughters, Molly (David) Smith of Zanesville, Julie (Brian) Cater of Hilliard, one sister Dorothy (Lou) Smith of Palm Desert, CA., one brother, Joe (Janet) Burns of Zanesville, five grandchildren, Ryan,Brandon, Jamie,  Taylor and Paige, one niece Barbara J. Smith of Gardenia CA., two nephews, Tom Smith of Las Vegas NV., and Bryan (Tasha) Lucas of Zanesville, a sister in-law and brother in-law, Jan & Jim Lucas of Zanesville.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 8, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville,and from 11:00 am till service time at the church. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at the Central Trinity United Methodist with Pastor Skip Colvin officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Douglas Charles McAvoy
Douglas Charles McAvoy, 45 of Zanesville, died at 12:27 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born August 4, 1957 in Zanesville a son of Shirley Gilloggly McAvoy and the late Paul B. McAvoy. He had worked at Genesis Bethesda Hospital and Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in the Food Service Department. He was a methodist by faith, loved ceremics, and enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are his mother, Shirley Gillogly McAvoy of Zanesville, two brothers, Jeffery Paul McAvoy & Timothy ( Barbara) McAvoy both of Zanesville, niece, Kimberly Williams and nephew Michael McAvoy both of Zanesville, three Aunts, Mary Hivnor of McConnelsville, Pat Anderson of Kissimmee, Florida,& Betty Ault of Cambridge and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul B. McAvoy in 1979.

The family will receive Doug's friends Tuesday, April 8, 2003 from 6-7 p.m. a Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. A caring cremation has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice- Morrison House.

SANDRA SUE SWINGLE

Sandra Sue Swingle, 60, of Nashport, Ohio, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday April 2, 2003 at the Arthur James Cancer Center. She was born September 26, 1942, in Pandora, Ohio the daughter of Dale E. & Janet Krohn Snavely. Mrs. Swingle was a member of the Maranatha Bible Church.

Surviving are her husband, H. James Swingle, whom she married December 2, 1967, of the home, her parents Dale E. and Janet Krohn Snavely of Holgate Ohio, three daughters, Stephanie (Matthew) Kirkham of Fairmount Ill., Rebecca (Kirk) Flinte of Greenville SC., Jennifer (Dean) Whisnant of Greenville SC., two sons, James J. Swingle of Greenville, SC., and Stephen S. Swingle of Nashport, Ohio, two brothers,Dale R. (Tamara) Snavely of Sebring FL., and Stephen K. (Margaret) Snavely of Defiance Ohio, two grandchildren, Kathryn Sue Kirkham and Benjamin James Kirkham, both of Fairmont, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a sister Cheryl Rochester.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday April 4, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The casket will be closed at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 5, 2003 at the Maranatha Bible Church with Pastor L., Dale Mc Callister officiating. Burial will follow at Irville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maranatha Missions or to the Wilds Christian Camp Association.

Muriel M. Catlett

Muriel M. Catlett, 54 of Zanesville died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003 at her home. She was born July 8, 1948 at South Zanesville. She was a stock clerk for Krogers. She was a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Catlett, whom she married May 16, 1970 of the home, her parents, Delmer & Janet Masterson Miller of South Zanesville, brother, Mike ( Carol ) Miller of Nashport, a sister, Jana Dunn of Gaysport and a special niece Kellie Catlett of Zanesville.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, with Pastor Joy French officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
