Arthur L. Joseph

Arthur L. Joseph, 80, of Zanesville died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. He was born March 21, 1923 in Connersville, Indiana, a son of the late Jacob & Tillie Steinberg Joseph. Arthur attended The Ohio State University and before completing he was called to World War II, where he served 3 years in the European Theater with the Armored Engineer and also served in the Battle of The Bulge.After the war, Mr. Joseph became President of The Muskingum Iron and Metal Company. He has also served various other companies such as Director of The I.H. Schlezinger Inc. of Columbus, past board member of First Federal Savings and Loan, a founding director of Muskingum Co. Community Foundation, past Exalted Ruler of Elks Club in Zanesville, served on the board of Directors for the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel Inc.and that organizations President of Ohio Valley Chapter, past trustee of The Muskingum Motor Club, 32 degree mason, past president of the Beth Abraham Synagogue, member of B'Nai B'rith, past member of Kiwanis, past board member of Bethesda Hospital, member of Zanesville Country Club, member of Presidential Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, avid golfer, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Arthur greatly enjoyed attending all his grandchildrens sporting events.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley L. Okrent Joseph, whom he married July 11, 1946, his children, Rob & Elaine Joseph and Jack & Bonnie Joseph both of Zanesville, five grandchildren who he will leave his legacy to, Frank and Dick Joseph, Josh Joseph, Noah ( Lyla ) Joseph and Melinda Joseph, brother, Stanley ( Faye ) Joseph of Phoenix, AZ, and cousin, Stanford ( Rona ) Joseph of Cincinnati.

The family will receive friends from noon till service time Sunday, November 23, 2003 at The Beth Abraham Synagogue. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with Rabbi Jeffrey Elson officiating. Burial will follow at Jewish Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers, however memorial contributions may be made to The Muskingum Co. Community Foundation or to The Beth Abraham Synagogue.

Betty J. "Nan " Lutz

Betty J. (Nan) Lutz, age 74, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was born January 20, 1929 in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy Adams Touvell. Mrs. Lutz attended the Sharon Avenue Free Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James K. Lutz, whom she married October31, 1946, one daughter, Pam (Fred) Fenton of Chandlersville, four sons, James K. Lutz of Zanesville, Mike E. (Delia) Lutz of Plant City, FL., Tom L. Lutz of Zanesville, and Jeff A. Lutz of Zanesville, four sisters, Ruth (Paul) Burkett of Zanesville, Cecil (Lawrence) Soller of Adamsville, Dorothy (Dot) (John) Mitchell of Zanesville, and Vera Hartley of Mc Connelsville, two brothers, Walter (Butch) (Shirley) Touvell of Zanesville, and Ralph (Sonny) Touvell of Zanesville, eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Benthol, Shannon Lutz, Misty (Jason) Hill, Amy (Justin) Thompson, Jeff Fenton, Amber Lutz, Kayla Lutz, and Megan Lutz, and three great grandchildren, Mallory Hill, Tyler Benthol, and McKenzie Fenton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Cook.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2003 at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Winner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.

Harold James " Jim " Wilson

Harold James " Jim " Wilson, 76, of Zanesville died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 8, 1927 at Zanesville, a son of the late Everett Wilson and Erma Hall Peairs. He was a rigger welder for Armco Steel for 38 years, was a member of First Christian Church, loved to golf and play baseball, was one of the founders of the Y-City Baseball, enjoyed woodworking in his workshop, but especially making toys and giving them away.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia A. Morris Wilson, whom he married June 6, 1948, daughter, Rebecca ( Jon ) Gaylord of Zanesville, son, David Wilson and companion Jan Kawa of Cumberland, six grandchildren, Bryan Gaylord, Maggie Palko, Katherine Gaylord, J.D. Wilson, Joshua Wilson and Danielle Wilson, brother, Everett ( Mildred ) Wilson of Baltimore, Maryland and his faithful and loving companion, Mitzi.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a son, Jamie Morris Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20 at First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road with Rev. Dawn L. Remster and Rev. Pat Matheny officiating. A caring cremation will take place after the services at the church and a graveside service will be held a Zanesville Memorial Park at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice or to First Christian Church.

Virginia June Gard Scott, 84, of Zanesville, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.She was born June 27, 1919 in Muskingum Co. to the late Thomas and Hazel Dell Powell Gard. She had lived most of her life in around Zanesville. Mom or grandma to many, she was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and also enjoyed the Cleveland Indians. She will be missed by a loving family, many friends and neighbors. She was a long time member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She leaves behind to mourn her loss, five children; Judith Ann ( Jon ) Bilinski of Gregory, Michigan, M. Sue Shaw of Zanesville, Linda A. ( Herman ) Harrell of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Clifton E. Powell of Buckeye Lake and Dick L. Powell of Henderson, Nevada, a grandson, Scott Shaw, whom she helped to raise, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband, George Scott who died in 1971, two brothers, Arthur and Lee Gard and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2003 at The Mt. Olive Methodist Church Hopewell, Ohio.with Pastor Charles E. Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 8 a.m. till service time at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of The Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville.

Jay N. Long

Jay N. Long, 67, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1936, in Franklin, PA., the son of the late Ralph and Anna Irwin Long. Mr. Long was a retired mould maker at Anchor Glass in Zanesville, a member of the Faith Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge of Perfection # 710 F & AM at Oil City, PA.,member of the Amrou Grotto # 45, and a life member of the A.F.G.W.U..

Surviving are his wife, Adrian (Kay) Daniels Long,whom he married January 16, 1959, daughter, Debra Kay Smith, of Oil City, PA., son, Steven (Debra) Long, of Wood River, IL., sister, Roxanne Berlin of St Petersburg FL., two brothers, Charles E. Long of Oil City, PA., and Robert M. Long of Sparks Nevada, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio, with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Amrou Grotto will hold services at the funeral home prior to services.

Richard George Fuller

Richard George Fuller, 80, of Zanesville, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Newark Health Care Center. He was born January 17, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Keith L. Fuller and Florence Brackney Fuller. He spent his childhood years in Hastings, Michigan ... and teenage years in New York and New Jersey. He graduated from Nutley High School, Nutley, N.J. in 1941 and attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., before and after World War II, serving in communications for the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Ocean area.

After graduating from Rutgers in 1948 with a B.S. Degree in Ceramic Engineering, his primary industrial employment assignments were as Vice President and plant manager at McNicol China Co., Clarksburg, W.Va., manager of quality control at Cambridge Manufacturing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio; Chief Ceramic Engineer at Nelson McCoy Pottery Co., Roseville, Ohio from which he retired in 1986. After retirement he engaged in ceramic consulting.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judith Owen and Barbara Owen.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Worthington Fuller, whom he married July 17, 1954, of the home, son, Keith ( Cindy ) Fuller and three grandsons, Luke, Adam and Ethan all of Tiffin, Ohio, daughter, Lisa Fuller and granddaughter Katie Maleckar, both of Arlington, Virginia.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Zanesville, member of the Amateur Radio Club and an Emeritus member of the American Ceramic Society.

No calling hours will be observed, private memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2003 at Grace United Methodist Church, 516 Shinnick Street, Zanesville. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.

Mary Anders

Mary N. Lindsley Anders, 72, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2003 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was born December 30, 1930 in Bethesda Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles R. & Verna Lewis Grimm. Mrs. Anders was a retired Assistant Service Manage at Sears, a member of the South Zanesville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. She was a member of the Zanes and Janes Dance Club.

Surviving are her two sons and daughters in-law, Alan and Susan Lindsley of Fayetteville, N. C., Mark and Debborah Lindsley of Pataskala, Oh., two sisters, Lena Battista of Quency, Mass., and Iva Lou Hupp of Bakersfield, CA., six grandchildren, Stephen Lindsley, Sarah Lindsley, Katherine Lindsley, and Evan Lindsley, all of Fayetteville, N. C., Shawna ( Blake) Arthur of Athens, and Kacie Lindsley of Pataskala Oh.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Terry Lindsley,who died April of 1993, and her second husband, Gene Anders, who died in 2000, by an infant daughter, Joan Ellen Lindsley, by one sister Nina Grimm Douglas, and two brothers, Charles Grimm and John Grimm.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville.Funeral services will be held at the South Zanesville United Methodist Church, at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003 with the Rev. Joy French officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Animall Shelter or to the South Zanesville United Methodist Church.

Margaret Aggas

Margaret L. " Peggy " Aggas, 79, of Zanesville died peacefully at 4:20 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003 with her daughters by her side. She was born January 16, 1924 at Muskingum Co., Ohio a daughter of the late William J. & Nettie Ruth Hale Embree Sr. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Hopewell High School in 1941.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Aggas and Cindy Aggas both of Zanesville, grandson John Robertson of Texas, three brothers, William J. ( Kay ) Embree of Zanesville, David J. ( Dorcella ) Embree of South Zanesville, Daniel J. Embree of Zanesville, sister, Ruth ( Oats) Johns of Plain City, Ohio.

She was preceded in death in addition to parents, her husband, Kenneth B. Aggas, who died October 5, 1996, two sisters, Mary Blackwood and Bonnie Embree, brother, Robert E. Embree.

No calling hours will be observed. A caring cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m.Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Zanesville Memorial Park with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice.

John Thomas Maris

John Thomas Maris, 83, of Zanesville died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at his home. He was born September 6, 1920 at Morgan Co., Ohio a son of the late Rolla Oakley and Goldie Humphrey Maris. He retired from Racine Hydraulics as a welder and had previously worked for Hazel Atlas. He was a World War II Army Veteran, member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and enjoyed traveling and being with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret L. Tipton Maris, whom he married December 31, 1941, two daughters, Carol K. George of Zanesville and Jacque D. Maris of the home, two grandsons, Timothy P. George and Thomas A. George both of Zanesville and his loyal best friend Chilli Dogs.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by brother, Charles Maris.

No calling hours will be held, a caring cremation has taken place and memorial services at a later date. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue has been entrusted with arrangements.
