Lula Kirschner, of Higginsport
Lula Kirschner, 51, of Higginsport, Ohio, died Sunday.
Ms. Kirschner was a member of the village council and a former mayor of Higginsport. She also was a poll worker for the Brown County Board of Elections.
She leaves her husband, John; daughter, Angie Tolin of Georgetown, Ohio; son, Charlie Kirschner of Higginsport; sisters Barb Poe and Jane McCarthy, both of Michigan, and Doris Ann Ross of Bethel, Ohio; brothers, Riley Crawford of Center, Ala., Joe Crawford of Felicity, Ohio, and Preston Crawford of Florida; and two grandchilren.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cahall Funeral Home, Ripley, Ohio.

Sister Patricia Ann Duran, teacher
Sister Patricia Ann Duran, a retired teacher in schools in Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, died Sunday of a heart attack. She was 72.
Sister Patricia Ann, a member of the Notre Dame de Namur order, died at the Mount Notre Dame Health Center in Reading.
Two of Sister Patricia Ann's hobbies were playing guitar and piano.
She was born in Columbus and entered the convent in 1941. She taught religion at St. James of the Valley School in Wyoming in the mid 1940s and at St. Xavier High School in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She also taught at numerous schools in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio.
Sister Patricia Ann taught religion at a school in Arizona and later became its principal. In the late 1980s and up to 1991, she worked in Brigham City, Utah, then returned to the convent in Reading. While she was semi-retired, she drove other sisters to appointments.
Mass will be at 7 tonight at the Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 701 E. Columbia Ave., Reading. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service. Memorials: to the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E. Columbia Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45215.

James A. Bond, ferry pilot
James Andrew Bond, a veteran Ohio River ferry pilot from Ghent, Ky., died Tuesday.
Mr. Bond, 77, also an Army veteran of World War II, was the former owner of Bond's Marathon Station in Ghent.
He later became the pilot of the Martha A. Graham-Ghent and Vevay Ferry.
Mr. Bond retired from the job when a bridge was built across the Markland Dam in 1978.
He then became a custodian with Kentucky Utilities Ghent Generating Station.
"He was a colorful local guy," said his daughter, Barbara Taylor, of Louisville, Ky.
"He was a historian for Ghent. I believe he even was the mayor of Ghent for a while," she said.
In his spare time, Mr. Bond enjoyed making wine. He had his own label, "Ruptured Duck," and gave away bottles to his friends.
Other survivors are a son, Robbie Bond of Bowling Green, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Church, Carrollton, Ky. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to the church, 507 Fifth St., Carrollton, 41008.
