Sunny Lee Zinn Rinbolt

MORRAL -- Sunny Lee Zinn Rinbolt, 61, Morral, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at her residence.

Born Aug. 22, 1941, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Art W. and Bonna Me (Swan) Rinbolt.

She was a customer service representative with Verizon for eight years, a member of Fair Park Community Baptist Church, Eagles Lodge 337 and American Legion Post 584.

She is survived by a son, Larry Zinn of Morral; a grandson, Gage Zinn; and nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Tammy) Mahaffey, Mr. and Mrs. John (Brenda) Mullin, Kimberly Rinbolt, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Jamie) Rogers and Art W. Rinbolt. She was preceded in death by a brother, Art Rinbolt Sr.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Fair Park Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Durtsche officiating. Calling hours will not be observed.

Arrangements are being handled by the Boyd Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Park Community Baptist Church.

Rose 'Teresa' Kelly

DELAWARE -- Rose " Teresa" Kelly, age 89, of Delaware, died early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2003, at Delaware Court Health Care Center.

She was born in Shelby on Aug. 11, 1913, to the late William E. and Lettie M. (Wheeler) Conroy.

Teresa grew up in Marion and graduated from St. Mary High School Class of 1931 and moved to Delaware in 1947 from Clintonville.

She had worked as a retail sales associate, working in the women's department of the former Frank Brothers Dept. Store in Marion and Lazarus in Columbus. She then worked in the boy's department of the former Peoples Store in Delaware. A devoted Catholic and member of St. Mary Church, Delaware, she participated in its many activities and groups. She loved animals, especially cats and dogs.

She is survived by six sons, Martin "Joe" Kelly and Tim Kelly, both of Delaware, Pat (Linda) Kelly of Springhill, Fla., Dennis Kelly, Pete Kelly, and Charles (Robin) Kelly, all of Delaware; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Martin Francis Kelly on June 14, 1983; grandson, Brendan Kelly; daughters-in-law, Jackie and Becki Kelly; and sisters, Mary E. Conroy and Catherine "Louise" Grant.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday with prayer services at 4 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. ( Ohio 36), Delaware. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Delaware, with the Rev. Father David Sizemore Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Delaware.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church.

Donald 'Fats' Flournoy Sr.

MARION -- Donald "Fats" Flournoy Sr., age 63, of 799 Catalina Drive, passed away early Monday morning, July 14, 2003, at his home.

Born in Waynesboro, Ga., on Jan. 27, 1940, to John Henry and Lottie (Bell) Flournoy, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served his country in Vietnam.

Donald was self-employed as an auto mechanic and auto body repairman and was preceded in death by a brother, William M. Flournoy.

Surviving are his wife, the former Audrey Rogers of Marion; his three sons, Staff Sgt. Donald (Shamika) Flournoy Jr., stationed with the U.S. Navy in Hamback, Germany, Marcus (Chasity) Flournoy and William Martin Flournoy, both of Marion; his three daughters, Lottie L. Flournoy, Tiffany D. Flournoy and Tara D. Flournoy, all of Marion; his brother, John H. Flournoy of Marion; his sister, Mrs. Greg (Jill) Allen of Fayetteville, N.C.; his seven grandchildren, Jordan, Samantha, Ahlehja, Marcie, Dillion, Seth and Anita, and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family friends.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas L. Clay officiating. Burial will follow in the historic Marion Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Marion Area United Veterans Council. Friends may call Friday from noon until time of services at the church.

Paul Eugene Rice

UPPER SANDUSKY -- Paul Eugene Rice, 84, County Highway 61, Upper Sandusky, died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Born Aug. 2, 1918, in Marion, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Nina (Price) Rice.

On June 9, 1943, at Central Christian Church in Marion, he married LaVonne Sampson and she survives.

He owned and operated Rice's IGA in Vanlue from 1950-1957 and then Rice's Foodliner in Upper Sandusky from 1957 to 1965. He then worked as parts manager for the following car dealerships: John Neate Inc., Stubbs Bros., and Kohler, all located in Upper Sandusky. He retired in 1983. He was a 1936 graduate of Harding High School and member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in rural Upper Sandusky for more than 22 years. When he was younger he enjoyed bowling and he also enjoyed playing cards, reading and traveling. He had a life membership of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in EAR Theater with 908 Battery of the Field Artillery Battalion of the 83rd Division. He was involved in three major engagements in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland in France.

He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon (Ronald) Kaper of Dayton; a grandson Jeffrey Horne of Beavercreek. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Norman Rice.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Marion Cemetery with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. military graveside rites will also be held. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ and/or Wyandot County Heart Support and/or the American Heart Association and may be sent to Lucas Funeral Home, P.O. Box 207, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Barbara U. (Walter) Heiligenberg

CORTLAND -- Barbara U. (Walter) Heiligenberg, 42, 245 North Colonial Drive, Cortland, died at 9:19 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at her residence.

Born on Oct. 22, 1960, in Marion, she was the daughter of Dale Walter and Christa Patzold.

On April 23, 1983, she married James Heiligenberg who survives.

She was a homemaker and lived in Cortland for 19 years after moving from Marion. She was a member of St. Roberts Catholic Church.

She is also survived by her father; three sons, Lucas, Jacob and Matthew Heiligenberg, all living at home; and a brother, Paul Walter of Marion.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Shafer-Winans and Lamer Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, at St. Roberts Catholic Church in Cortland. Burial is in Hillside Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Marion First Church of the Nazarene.

Scott Brickley

MARION -- Scott Brickley, age 49, of 387 Mount Vernon Ave., passed away at 11:45 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2003, at his home with family and close friends at his side after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Marion on July 14, 1954, to the late Dr. Daniel and Sue (Scott) Brickley, he married the former Tracy Craver who survives at home.

Scott had many interests including being an avid reader and a gifted artist. He also loved participating in community theater productions in California,  Oklahoma and here in Marion at the Palace Theatre.

Also surviving are his daughter, Jane; his brother, Daniel (Gerre) Brickley and his sisters, Mrs. Robert (Sara) McCurdy and Mrs. Russell (Martha) Hamilton.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the historic Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Marion Public Library. Arrangements have been handled for his family by the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home.
