Kent McGough, led Ohio GOP
COLUMBUS - Kent McGough, a former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party who helped James Rhodes recapture the governor's office in 1974, has died following a stroke.
Mr. McGough, 80, died Wednesday in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Mr. McGough, who headed the state party from 1973 to 1977, spent one day last week with about 20 old friends from his political years, including Rhodes, his son John said.
Mr. McGough, a native of Lima, Ohio, retired in 1992 from the governmental affairs consulting firm he founded in Columbus. He and his wife, Wilda, had a retirement home in Boca Raton, Fla.
He was a graduate of Miami University and was a member of the university's board of trustees from 1979 to 1988.
Mr. McGough served as chairman of the Allen County Republican Party from 1954 to 1974, then was elected to the Republican State Committee.
He went on to terms as state party treasurer in 1968 and 1972, then the state chairmanship.
In 1974 he helped Rhodes, a former two-term governor, unseat Democratic Gov. John Gilligan. Rhodes completed two more terms to become Ohio's longest-serving governor.
Mr. McGough also served as delegate or alternate delegate at six national Republican conventions.
He served as chairman of the rules committee for the 1976 Republican National Convention and also served as chairman of the Ohio delegation at that convention.
He later became an adviser to the Reagan and Bush re-election efforts. Besides his wife and children Debra and John, Mr. McGough is survived by children Sandra M. Shelar of Gaithersburg, Md., and Cindy Long of Columbus, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Hugh Sensibaugh, Lockland pastor
The Rev. Hugh Faris Sensibaugh, 82, a retired minister who pastored Lockland Christian Church for 46 years, died Thursday.
Ordained in 1939, the Frazeysburg, Ohio, native's first ministerial position was at the Lockland Christian Church, then known as Second Christian Church.
There were fewer than 100 members in the small mission church, but by the time he retired in 1985, membership had grown to 2,654.
A graduate of Christian Normal Institute (now Kentucky Christian College) in Grayson, Ky., he held degrees from Cincinnati Bible Seminary.
He was a former Kentucky Christian College trustee and board chairman; former president of the Cincinnati Bible Seminary Alumni Association, and the former president of the Christians' Hour Broadcasting Association reaching 2 million listeners.
Other activities included trustee of the Christian Benevolent Association of Cincinnati, a member of the Scottish Rite, a former chaplain of the Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Mid-West Gun Collectors Association.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rose Ledbetter Sensibaugh; daughter, Sybil Atkinson of Pulaski, Va.; sons: Mike Sensi baugh of St. Louis, David Sensibaugh, of Kingsport, Tenn., Rod Sensibaugh of Fairfax, Va., and Dan Sensibaugh of Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Lockland Christian Church. Visitation is 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Sister Barbara Mary Busch, taught more than 40 years
Sister Barbara Mary Busch, a Sister of Charity whose teaching career spanned more than 40 years, died Friday at age 65.
The Cincinnati native began working at St. Rita School for the Deaf in 1956, teaching a variety of subjects and for 31 years coaching the girls' baseball team.
Educated by the Sisters of Charity at St. Lawrence School and Seton High School, she entered the community in 1949 and was a Sister of Charity for 48 years.
Prior to coming to St. Rita School for the Deaf, her first teaching job was at St. Louis School in Mt. Clemens, Mich. for four years.
She took a leadership role and served on many committees in the Sister of Charity Order, including her election in 1993 as one of a three-member team serving the Sisters in the Cincinnati Townhall Network. She was named to the St. Rita Hall of Fame.
Survivors: three sisters, Sisters of Charity Brenda and Barbara Busch and Linda Culman; and brother Kenneth Busch, and many nieces and nephews, all of Cincinnati.
Visitation: 4 p.m. today, followed by a 7 p.m. mass in the Motherhouse Chapel, 5900 Delhi Road.
