LOUIS DANIEL ZIEGLER, 88, a long-time business leader and community volunteer, died Wednesday at Christ Hospital.
Mr. Ziegler worked for 50 years at the Magnus Metal Co. until his retirement in the early 1970s. He began his career as an office clerk and worked his way up to an executive position. During his tenure with the company, he oversaw operations in California, Texas and Ohio. Eventually, he was placed in charge of all production operations for the company.
His volunteer activities included regular visits to the sick and elderly at local nursing homes. He also was an active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church of Cincinnati.
Mr. Ziegler's son, Ronald L. Ziegler, was press secretary to President Richard Nixon and now is president of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores in Alexandria, Va.
He also leaves his wife, Ruby; daughter, Anita Macadam, of Middletown, Ohio; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Cincinnati. Visitation: noon Saturday at the church.

ROSELLA M. RUTEMILLER MOELLER, 95, a retired clerk with the old Cincinnati Times-Star and a Pink Lady volunteer at St. George and St. Francis-St. George hospitals, died Wednesday. Mrs. Moeller was a Westwood resident.
She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Church, the St. Cecilia Ladies Sodality, the Rosary-Altar Society and St. Angela Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Legion of Mary and St. Aloysius Orphanage Society.
She leaves sons, Leroy Moeller of Bridgetown, Paul Moeller of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dave Moeller of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

George Bruestle, P&G engineer
George G. Bruestle, 74, of Western Hills, a retired Procter & Gamble senior engineer, died Wednesday.
Retiring after 34 years, Mr. Bruestle was instrumental in the design and installation of power plants in Florida, Georgia and Alberta, Canada.
Procter & Gamble honored him for his outstanding contributions to technical safety as founder of the combustion safety program and as a leader in thermal safety. He represented the firm on national fire safety committees.
A Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Mr. Bruestle held degrees in physics and mechanical engineering.
Mr. Bruestle was a 1940 graduate of Western Hills High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, on active duty on a destroyer in both the Mediterranean and the South Pacific. During the war Mr. Bruestle also was an instructor at Midshipman's School at Columbia University, teaching classes on a boat on the Hudson River.
An avid boater, he was a founder of the Brookville Lake Sailing Association.
Mr. Bruestle was a member of the May Festival Chorus and appeared as a soloist with many church and community choirs.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Roettger Bruestle; sons Jeffrey T. Bruestle, Eric G. Bruestle and Douglas J. Bruestle, all of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Mausoleum Chapel in Spring Grove Cemetery; visitation begins there at 2 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Fine Arts Fund, Beech Acres or the charity of the donor's choice.

Esther E. Liggett, taught in Georgetown
Esther Elizabeth Liggett, 80, of Georgetown, Ohio, died Thursday. She was a retired teacher with the Georgetown Exempted Village School District and a Sunday school teacher at Georgetown United Methodist Church.
She was a substitute editor with the Georgetown News Democrat and a contributing reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer. She was a charter member and officer of the Georgetown Junior Women's Club, and a member of Carey Bavis American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary, Georgetown. She was a member of Brown County General Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and was a former Girl Scout leader.
She leaves daughters, Marian Miller of Delhi Township and Coralie Caron of Columbus; a son, James G. "Ted" Liggett of Sidney, Ohio; brothers, Bill O'Keefe of Levittown, Pa., Bernard O'Keefe and Bertram O'Keefe, both of Lexington, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

Alfred L. Weiner, dermatologist, longtime UC faculty member
Dr. Alfred L. Weiner was a perfectionist.
The Cincinnati dermatologist treated thousands of patients, trained hundreds of doctors and presided over several dermatological societies in a 58-year medical career.
"He wanted to do everything right," said his son, Stewart Weiner. "He was an all-around good guy and everybody loved him."
Dr. Weiner, 86, of Amberley Village, opened his medical practice in 1939 and didn't retire until three months ago. He died Monday of kidney failure.
He was an emeritus professor of dermatology at the University of Cincinnati, past director of the Jewish Hospital Department of Dermatology and past president of the Cincinnati Dermatological Society.
Dr. Weiner was a graduate of Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati, where he was captain of the baseball team. He later became an excellent golfer.
Dr. Weiner was a UC professor of dermatology for more than 50 years and wrote numerous articles for medical publications. He was a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the founder and charter president of two national dermatologic organizations - the Noah Worcester Dermatological Society and the Masters Dermatological Association.
He was co-founder and president of Milford Medical Offices, the first local physician group to have satellite offices. Dr. Weiner also was past president of Losantiville Country Club and a member of the board of governors of the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association.
Dr. Weiner was preceded in death by his wife, Janet. He also leaves daughters Wendy Wasserman of Cincinnati and Tobie Weiner of Cambridge, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wise Center, Amberley Village. Arrangements: Weil Funeral Home.
