Robert Lambert, Middletown leader
Robert "Bob" Lambert, a member of the Middletown City Commission since 1993, died Monday. He was 68.
Mr. Lambert suffered from stomach and liver cancer. He was first treated for cancer in 1995, but continued to serve on the city commission. He lost a re-election bid earlier this month. His current term was to expire in January.
"He loved Middletown. He will be sadly missed by the city commission and this community," said Jim Armbruster, commission chairman.
Mr. Lambert also served on panels reviewing Middletown's city charter and ordinances.
He was born in Middletown and graduated in 1947 from Middletown High School. He also was a veteran of the
Korean War. He leaves his wife, wife, Norma, four children and 10 grandchildren. Services are pending.

Mary Eubank, child advocate
Mary Eubank loved children so much that she worked until age 75 to help them. Mrs. Eubank, 93, died in her Clovis, Calif., home Nov. 10 from a stroke.
She lived in Western Hills for 55 years, said her daughter, Esther Cox, from her Clovis, Calif., home.
"She came to Cincinnati when she was 19 and didn't leave until she retired in 1976," Ms. Cox said.
Mrs. Eubank worked for the State of Ohio's Children's Services department where she helped children.
"She worked so hard to help children and watch out for their interests," Ms. Cox said.
Mrs. Eubank was preceded in death by her husband, Glen F. Eubank. She was active in the Women's Democratic Society and Garden Club as well as the Daughters of America. Arrangements were in care of Clovis Funeral Chapel, Clovis, Calif.

Raymond Bockelman, POW during WWII
A hero to his country and family, Raymond H. Bockelman hurdled life's obstacles with an indestructible smile and rock-solid faith in God.
Mr. Bockelman, 81, died Tuesday at Franciscan Hospital, Mt. Airy Campus.
"The thing we like to think about is that he approached every challenge with a sense of humor, courage and compassion," said his son Paul, of Boston.
And there were challenges.
Mr. Bockelman was a member of the U.S. Army's 3rd Battalion when he was wounded and captured Dec. 4, 1944 by German forces near Strasborg, Germany.
He endured a bitter winter during more than five months of imprisonment, suffering greatly but never losing his zest for life.
"His faith helped him survive," Paul Bockelman said.
And there were great joys.
Mr. Bockelman married his love, Alma Bockelman, and settled in White Oak to raise a family. They were married 51 years.
Mr. Bockelman worked at Formica Inc. for 44 years and lived in White Oak for 46 years.
He dove into family-related activities, coaching baseball and baseball and cofounding the White Oak Athletic Club.
As Mr. Bockelman neared retirement, he became active in the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana chapter of Ex-American Prisoners of War, including a stint as chapter commander.
Other survivors include daughters Patricia Henderson of Columbus, and Peggy Mitchell of Montgomery; sons Raymond "Jay" Bockelman of Portland, Michael Bockelman of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and Joseph Bockelman of Springboro; and 14 grandchildren.
A mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church, 3565 Hubble Rd. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Nurre Brothers Funeral Home, 5907 Cheviot Rd. Memorials: to OKI Chapter of Ex-American Prisoners of War, c/o Clifford Faeth, 3057 Jessup Rd., Cincinnati, 45239.

Neil Olsen, retired from P&G
Neil Adrian Olsen, 67, a retired director of the Internal Audit Division of Procter & Gamble, died Sunday at his home on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Formerly of Cincinnati, Mr. Olsen was a heart transplant recipient.
Mr. Olsen joined P&G in 1952 and worked in several positions in the company's finance department. He retired in 1990.
He was a member and past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and was on the Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Girl Scouts.
He also was a former chairman of Procter & Gamble's Cincinnati United Way campaign.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Kolbe Olsen; a daughter, Connie Olsen of Wilton, Conn.; sisters, Grace Clement of Vero Beach, Fla. and Jacqueline McCann of Orlando, Fla.; and two granddaughters.
Memorial services were today at Christ Lutheran Church in Hilton Head. Memorials: Heart and Lung Transplant Fund, Medical University of South Carolina, Administration Building, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, S.C. 29425, or the charity of donor's choice. Copeland Funeral Home, Hilton Head, is handling arrangements.
