Philip L. Shriver, respected CPA
Philip L. Shriver, president of Shriver & Co. accounting firm, died Feb. 17 at his Anderson Township home.
Mr. Shriver was founder and director of Anderson Bank Co., and a director of Vanguard Financial Co.
He was a past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of Ohio Certified Public Accountants and one of the initial members of the AcPhilip Shriver
counting Review Services Committee of the American Institute of CPAs.
Mr. Shriver was a member of Coldstream Country Club and Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.
"Many of Dad's clients were also his friends," said his son, Doug Shriver of Anderson Township.
Other survivors include daughters Linda Timmons of San Antonio and Nanette McCarthy of Amberley Village, and six grandchildren. His wife, Joan Shriver, died in 1997.
Services were Friday at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Blue Ash. Memorials: the Shriver Scholarship Fund, in care of OSCPA Educational Foundation, Box 1810, Dublin, Ohio, 43017.

Joan Nix Craig, church counselor
Joan E. Nix Craig, 53, of Mt. Healthy, died Saturday. Ms. Craig was a counselor and served in many capacities at Union Baptist Church, including deaconess, Sunday school teacher and youth ministry supervisor.
She was a substitute teacher with the Cincinnati Public Schools and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. At the time of her death, she was pursuing a master's degree in Christian counseling.
She leaves her husband, Theodore Craig; daughters Kimberly Chenault and Angela Powell; a son, Ricardo Powell; sisters Lois Brock and Deborah Kelly; brothers Willie E. Nix and Michael Nix; and 11 grandchildren.

Lawyer Roy Ketz, never forgot others
Almost daily, Roy Ketz could be found stopping fellow lawyers around the Hamilton County Courthouse and on nearby streets, getting them to sign congratulatory, get-well or condolences cards.
He did that for more than four decades, paying for the cards and stamps himself, and endeared himself to generations of lawyers and judges.
"He believed he wrote 130,000 cards to lawyers, judges, their families and many others. He always said that life is short and he wanted to make the world a better place," said his wife of 41 years, Gloria L. Ketz.
Mr. Ketz died Tuesday in Jewish Hospital. He practiced law more than 50 years.
"He was totally unselfish and through his cards he wanted to wish everyone well," said Common Pleas Judge Thomas Nurre. "He was a very special person. He will be missed by all members of the bar."
The Bond Hill resident and graduate of Chase College of Law was a member of the Cincinnati and Ohio bar associations, the Lawyers Club and B'nai B'rith Lodge Four. He was a voracious reader and history buff. He also loved the opera, ballet and musical concerts.
In 1980 he was honored by B'nai B'rith and in 1991 he received the Trustees Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association.
He also leaves a daughter, Judith Lynne Ketz, and sister, Anne Wainscott of Ludlow, Ky.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Weil Funeral Home, Avondale.

Teacher Helen Grace Dornette loved nature
Helen Grace Dornette, 90, a former science teacher at Withrow High School, died Monday at Franciscan Hospital's Western Hills campus.
The former Mariemont resident was an authority on wild flowers and birds of Cincinnati and Michigan. Ms. Dornette also loved shelling in Florida and summered in the Le Cheneaux Islands of Michigan.
Ms. Dornette was a member of the Madisonville United Methodist Church, the Madisonville Garden Club, the Monday Club and Marielders.
She leaves many cousins and friends.

Sister Helen Robers, educator
Sister of Charity Helen Robers, who had a 50-year teaching career, died Tuesday.
Formerly known as Sister Myra Joseph, she taught at St. William, Annunciation, Resurrection, St. Gabriel and St. Martin de Porres schools. She also taught at St. Savior, St. Matthew, St. Jude and St. Francis Seraph schools.
Sister Helen tutored at St. Francis Seraph School in Over-the-Rhine during her retirement.
"Sister Helen always impressed me as a very prayerful and conscientious religious," said Sister of Charity Carita Kemble, a longtime friend. "She was also great at seeing the funny side of things and having a good time."
She leaves sisters Marion Buschmann, Margaret Artmayer and Eleanor Robers, all of North College Hill, Alma Blessing of Michigan and Sister of Charity Rosemary Robers of Price Hill; and a brother, John Robers of Mt. Airy.

Thomas Eckles, AAA agent
Thomas S. Eckles, 86, of Northside, died Tuesday. Mr. Eckles was a retired travel agent for AAA.
He was active in community theater, a proficient lighting designer, honorary member of the Drama Workshop an advisor for the Southgate Chorus and the College of Mount St. Joseph Theater.

Lois Zemke, dedicated to family, church
Lois Zemke is being remembered by her family for her devotion to them and her church.
Mrs. Zemke, 53, of Symmes Township and formerly of Montgomery, died Tuesday.
A homemaker, she also was active at Church of the Saviour United Methodist Church in Montgomery, where she taught Bible classes.
She leaves her husband, Douglas E. Zemke; sons, Craig M. Zemke and Steven T. Zemke; her parents, the Rev. Ridell Kelsey and Margaret Kelsey; brothers, Wayne Kelsey and Bruce Kelsey and a sister, Elizabeth Hasler.
