Cornelia Brooks, social worker
Cornelia Blakely Brooks, 82, who spent 30 years as a social worker for the city of Cincinnati, died Monday.
Mrs. Brooks was the aunt of Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge John Andrew West.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., Mrs. Brooks and her sister, Bennie Mae, moved to Cincinnati with their parents.
Mrs. Brooks graduated from Withrow High School in 1933 and from the University of Cincinnati in 1937.
She began her career as a social worker with the Hamilton County Welfare Department, transferred to the city of Cincinnati in 1962 and retired in 1992.
With the city, Mrs. Brooks worked as a relocation specialist for the real estate and law departments. Her major responsibility was finding suitable housing for families displaced as a result of city expansion and urban renewal.
In 1959 she married Orme Brooks, who died in 1983.
Survivors include nephews John Andrew West and Cloyd C. West Jr. and a niece, Phyllis Ann West.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Joseph R. Garr Funeral Home, 930 Findlay St.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gordon McCloud, had 1st surgery
Gordon H. McCloud, 57, the first person from Dearborn County, Indiana, to have open heart surgery 30 years ago, died Thursday.
Mr. McCloud, of Lawrenceburg, Ind., was a former employee in the sanitation department at the Seagrams Distillery.
Mr. McCloud had the groundbreaking surgery when he had an aortic valve replaced in Houston, Texas .
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Fitch-Denny Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, Ind., Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rising Sun First United Church of Christ or Marfan Syndrome Research.

Paul Strasinger, traffic manager
Paul Strasinger, 74, of Mt. Orab, Ohio, died Saturday in Williamsburg, Ohio.
He was a retired traffic manager with Grefco, and a member of Disabled American Veterans and New Life Outreach Ministries. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Gadd Strasinger; a son, Paul Strasinger of Cincinnati; daughters, Gloria Laemmle of Cincinnati and Jeanine Strasinger of Mt. Orab, Ohio; brothers, David Strasinger of Cincinnati and Jack Strasinger of Palmetto, Fla.; a sister, Emma Miller of Ft. Thomas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas.

Darwin Lindsey Schultz, engineer
Retired Cincinnati engineer Darwin Lindsey Schultz enjoyed making furniture, clocks and model airplanes for his children.
When his children grew up, Mr. Schultz turned his sights to his garden, where he grew roses, strawberries and pumpkins.
Family members say Mr. Schultz, of Erlanger, Ky., filled his life with purpose and happiness and always found time for his family.
Mr. Schultz died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Ky. He was 75.
"He had a good sense of humor, and he loved to have fun with his friends," said a son, Darwin Lynn Schultz of Taylor Mill, Ky. "But I think his greatest joy was entertaining his grandchildren. Holidays were always a favorite time of the year. He loved to cook."
Mr. Schultz was a retired engineer with Senco Products in Cincinnati and was a member of Newport Lodge No. 358 F&AM and Scottish Rite. He also was secretary of the Belleacres
Sportsmen Club in Newport. Mr. Schultz's father, Harry, was assistant fire chief in Newport.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, Ky. Visitation: 5-8 tonight with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Memorials: to Camp Sunshine, P.O. Box 75141, Ft. Thomas, Ky. 41075.
