Gilbert J. Volz, leader in construction field
Gilbert J. Volz, 70, owner of Volz Construction Co., died Sunday at Franciscan Hospital-Mt. Airy Campus.
The Western Hills resident was former director of the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio and National Home Builders Associations and past president of the Greater Cincinnati Home Builders Apartment Association.
Mr. Volz also was a member of Archbishop Purcell Council 2798 Knights of Columbus.
He leaves his wife, Ann Murphy
Volz; daughters, Ann Wissemeier and Pamela Lee Noe, both of Bridgetown; a son, Thomas G. Volz of Bridgetown; a sister, Mary Witteride of Bridgetown; and five grandchildren.

Sister Mary Regula, orphanage worker
Sister Mary Regula, S.N.D., who spent many years at St. Aloysius Orphanage in Cincinnati, died Sunday. She was 87.
Sister Mary Regula, formerly Christine Kordt, was born in Wattenscheid, Hontorp, Germany. She became a nun in Germany and moved to the United States in April 1937. She also worked at St. Joseph Orphanage in Cold Spring, Ky.
She leaves a sister, Gertrud Gall of Germany.

James Ferrell Hatfield, worked for caterer
James Ferrell Hatfield, 82, who was a manager with Manor Catering, Cincinnati, died Monday at his home.
The Ft. Thomas, Ky., resident was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Covington Scottish Rite, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Ellen Gabbard Hatfield, died in 1995.
He leaves a daughter, Jacqueline Hatfield Hudepohl of Ft. Thomas; sisters, Ruby Elizabeth Taylor of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Bobbie Katherine May of Cincinnati; brothers, Francis Marion Hatfield of Cincinnati, Chip Channon Hatfield of Taylor Ill, Millard Gordon Hatfield of Johnson City, Tenn., and Clifton Eugene Hatfield of Spring Hill, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Rev. John Burns, pastor and teacher
The Rev. John T. Burns, former assistant pastor at St. Lawrence and St. Antoninus parishes in western Cincinnati, died Monday of a heart attack.
The 68-year-old priest also served at several other parishes in southwestern Ohio, including as assistant pastor at Holy Angels in Sidney; Holy Trinity in Middletown; and St. Luke in Beavercreek.
Father Burns was co-pastor at Mary Help of Christians Parish in Fairborn, Ohio, in 1977, before becoming pastor a year later. He was pastor at Sacred Heart in New Carlisle in 1979 and was tempo
rary administrator of St. Patrick Parish in Fayetteville 1990. He retired in 1994.
Ordained in 1958, Father Burns also taught at Fenwick High School in Middletown and Cincinnati's Mercy High School. He was educated at St. Gregory and Mount St. Mary Seminaries in Cincinnati.

Herbert Hamilton, businessman and pilot
Herbert H. Hamilton, 83, an Indian Hill entrepreneur and pilot, died Monday.
Mr. Hamilton was a pioneer in the nitrogen fertilizer business and was involved in international agri-business for the better part of 40 years. During World War II, he served as a senior officer in the Air Transport Command and continued his flying after the war, piloting his own aircraft out of Lunken Airport well into his later years.
The avid golfer was a member of the Camargo Club, Augusta National and Lyford Cay Club in the Bahamas.
He leaves his wife, Mary Hamilton; daughter, Patricia Hamilton of Athens, Greece; sons, Scott Hamilton, Michael Hamilton and Jeffrey Hamilton, all of Cincinnati, and James Hamilton of Southern Pines, N.C.; and 13 grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Indian Hill Church. Arrangements: Gilligan Funeral Home.
