Three years later, she joined the AP fea tures staff in New York. She remained there for the rest of her career, aside from a brief assign ment to the AP's business news staff. She lived in Bedford Hills, N.Y., at the time of her death.
In 1979, as part of its Mike Berger Awards, Co lumbia University's Graduate School of Journalism singled out for special mention Ms. Bartlett's story on New York apartment house doormen.
In 1981, she received a certificate of merit from the American Bar Association for a two-part series she wrote on a lack of compensation for crime vic tims.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Dave Goldberg, the AP's pro football writer, and by her brother, Joseph Bartlett Jr. Funeral arrange ments were pending in Cincinnati.
