David Lloyd-Jones, designer and volunteer

David Lloyd-Jones, a Kroger Co. senior manager for manufacturing/engineering, was a designer like his famous relative, architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He was an amateur magician, and coached Anderson High School's Odyssey of the Mind team with his wife for seven years.

He died unexpectedly Saturday at Mercy Hospital Anderson after collapsing at home. He was 54.

"At least I was home. I was with him," said Vicki Lloyd-Jones, his wife of 30 years. She met him in junior high school, in Joplin, Mo., she said.

"Everybody loved his sense of humor, and he was just so bright," Mrs. Lloyd- Jones said.

Although Mr. Lloyd- Jones never met Frank Lloyd Wright, his grandfather's first cousin, he was influenced by his work.

The house he designed and was building in Manchester, Ohio, as a weekend home and eventual retirement home overlooking the Ohio River showed some of Wright's influences, Mrs. Lloyd- Jones said.

He was active with the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the board of Unity Chapel Inc., and a member of International Brotherhood of Magicians.

He earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.

He also leaves his mother, Barbara Lloyd- Jones of Joplin; a daughter, Jenafer Lloyd-Jones, at home; and a son, David Lloyd- Jones III, of Anderson Township.

James Denight, of Palette Studios

James Paul Denight was so dedicated to the work of his store that some customers knew him only as "Paul at Palette Studios" or "Mr. Palette."

"That really was his life - the store," said his wife, Sharon Denight of Springfield Township.

Mr. Denight, 64, died Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati.

Mr. Denight owned and operated Palette Studios, 2501 Woodburn Ave., Walnut Hills, with his wife for 23 years.

The 80-year-old business had been owned by two generations of another family before him.

He was intimately involved in the work of Palette Studios, which specializes in lamp customizing and repairs.

"People bring us their heirlooms," according to Mrs. Denight.

"We have dealt with the Who's Who of Cincinnati for all the years we've owned it."

Mr. Denight worked as an engineer before buying the store.

He attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and was trained as an operatic tenor.

He also leaves sons, James Paul Denight Jr., and Brian Denight, both of Cincinnati.
