Edward Duwel, served Cheviot

Edward W. Duwel, 96, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday in Tennessee. He was a former Cheviot City Council member and a member of the Cheviot Eagles.

He leaves a son, James E. Duwel; daughters, Mary Robke, Elaine Harffman and Carol Vollmer; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Dorothy Dietrich Duwel, preceded him in death.

Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, Bridgetown. Visitation: 5 to 8 Thursday at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Memorials: St. Anthony Friary and Shrine, Cincinnati.

William "Pop' Humbert, owned truck stop

Truck Stop owner William C. "Pop" Humbert, 77, of Loveland, and formerly of Florence, died Monday.

He was a father figure to many people, including local police officers. Every Thanksgiving, officers who had to work the holiday knew they could stop his Crittenden Truck Stop in Northern Kentucky on their break for a hot turkey dinner.

Mr. Humbert attended Cincinnati's Purcell High School, where he played football. Later in life he helped coach football there.

He also was a general manager for Becker Drugs, a large chain in Cincinnati.

At the time, he and his young, growing family were living on a 100-acre farm in Clermont County. In 1972, he left Becker to be his own boss and bought the truck stop.

He leaves sons, Joe, Bill, Dan and John; a daughter, Chris Kelly; sister, Anna Mae Holtzleiter; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife of 33 years, Mary, preceded him in death.

Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Church, Florence. Visitation: 9 to 10:25 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials: Purcell Marian Athletic Boosters. Arrangements: Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, Ky.

Clinton Herby, retired Federated executive

Clinton F. Herby, 86, a retired vice president of the tax department for Federated Department Stores in Cincinnati, died Tuesday.

The Fort Thomas, Ky., resident was a member of the board of directors and the finance committee for St. Luke Hospital East.

He leaves his wife, Anna Mae Francisco Herby; sons, John D. Herby and Clinton F. Herby, both of Fort Thomas; and a daughter, Martha Ann Herby of Germany.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation: noon Friday at the funeral home.

Phillip Andriot, businessman

Phillip Eugene Andriot, the former director of the Northern Kentucky Easter Seal Center, died Wednesday at age 58. Mr. Andriot left the center to open Blinds Direct and Andriot's Printing, both in Newport.

"His main objective was to work hard so we didn't have to, to provide us all the things we'd ever need and more," said a son, Kevin E. Andriot of Flushing, Mich.

Mr. Andriot moved to Lakeside Park in 1971 from Louisville to head the Easter Seal Center in Covington.

In the late 1970s, Mr. Andriot's entrepreneurial instincts led him to open the printing company in Newport. About 10 years later, he and his brother opened Blinds Direct. Both remain family owned and operated businesses.

"Being an entrepreneur, he wanted to try his hand in other things," said his wife of 34 years, Mary Elinor Andriot.

In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by another son, Eric L. Andriot, also of Lakeside Park; daughters, Elizabeth M. Ernst, of Ludlow and Michelle M. Andriot, of Lakeside Park; a brother, David L. Andriot of Louisville; and one grandchild.

Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Jennifer E. Harber, Fort Thomas

Jennifer Elizabeth Harber, 17, of Fort Thomas, Ky., died Tuesday in Covington in a shooting.

She was a junior at Highlands High School where she was a member of the chorus. She formerly worked for Graeter's Ice Cream in Newport and played soccer in the Northern Kentucky Recreational League.

Survivors include her parents, Edward and Beverly Harber of Fort Thomas; a sister, Emily A. Harber of Fort Thomas; and grandparents, Louis and Aileene Achzehner of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Highland United Methodist Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
